Your Hidden Symmetry
Page 16
When I was writing The Wisdom of Your Child’s Face, I did a lot of research on the latest findings in Western theories of child development. One of the most compelling studies I discovered was about how you can actually predict a child’s future success based on one particular aspect of their parents’ behavior toward them. It’s not what you’d think—it doesn’t depend on how often parents praise their child or how many times they say, “I love you.”
In fact, the single most important predictor of a child’s happiness and success is how much they feel recognized by their parents. If they feel their parents understand and acknowledge who they are, they have a genuine sense of acceptance, love, and connection. They feel free to be themselves for the rest of their lives.
Yet I don’t think this ends in childhood. I think we all yearn to feel truly seen by the people in our lives, and it’s even more important to be able to see ourselves with love and acceptance as well. This work gives us that gift. Knowing that there’s a hidden symmetry to your personality allows you to step out of all the old limiting ways you’ve been viewing yourself and reclaim your true spirit. Just like everything else in nature, there’s an inherent grace, rhythm, and purpose to you and to your life that’s beautiful and right. And in the next chapter, Louise Hay gives you affirmations to help you embrace your true nature and live with joy.
CHAPTER 9
LOUISE HAY’S
AFFIRMATIONS
FOR YOUR TRUE
NATURE
As you recall, the ancient principles in this book are the result of research over thousands of years that developed a sophisticated map of how all of life works, and that can be applied to any system to see if it’s complete and true. In the Introduction, I described my amazed discovery that these principles completely validate Louise Hay’s work with affirmations. If you lay the map of the Five Elements and Nine Star Ki over the structure of her work, each affirmation is a perfect fit for one of the nine numbers.
So Louise’s information can be powerful here in supporting you as you move fully into the most joyful expression of your true spirit. The affirmations that follow were designed by Louise to help you remember who you really are and step into the beauty of your true nature.
Find the list of affirmations that matches your first number and choose one, two, or three of the phrases listed to work with each day. Select the ones that grab your attention or appeal to you the most, but also feel free to change it up and use other affirmations in that category, depending on what you sense you need at that time.
You don’t have to only work with the affirmations that match your first number. You can use the affirmations for any of your three numbers in different ways. For example, if you’re a 9.1.4, definitely use the affirmations for Nine—but if you’re stressed or upset, you might also want to use the ones listed for the One nature, since that’s who you become during those times. And when it comes to your career or the challenges you recognize as belonging to your third number, then turn to the affirmations listed for Four.

Now that you’ve explored the hidden symmetry of your true nature, we’ll look at the patterns that affect you as you journey through time. In Part II, you’ll learn how your life has different cycles and seasons just as in the natural world, and how you can align with them.

CHAPTER 10
YOUR TEN
DECADES AND
FOUR GATES
Our journey through life seems pretty haphazard. Things appear to happen as a result of our own efforts, as a consequence of random events, or because of what we view as good or bad luck. But there is an invisible symmetry to life as well, a rhythm of cycles that we all predictably move through; and in each phase of time, our attention will naturally be focused in a certain direction. Each stage of life is designed to guide us, to help us make further progress in our own personal evolution.
When you discover where you are in these cycles, you can understand why you’re feeling the way you are and how your experiences during this period fall into a specific pattern. Each stretch of time gives you certain homework, too; if you do the work assigned for that phase, you make the most progress. Then the next stage of life builds on that to be even more positive and powerful.
Having this information allows you to finally be in the right place at the right time, to go with the flow of your specific journey rather than fight the current. And it’s never too late to align with these patterns. As you read this chapter, if you find that in some stages you were headed in the wrong direction, you can trust that the lessons will reappear again for an opportunity to get back on the right path. After all, life loves you and wants you to succeed.
We’ll start out by examining the rhythm of the decades. Each is associated with one or more of the Nine Star Ki numbers, but in this case, it’s not important to define them that way. Instead we can simply focus on the theme of each phase.
While each decade is important, there are certain periods within them that are more significant. For one thing, each threshold you cross as you move from one ten-year stage to the next is considered to be a powerful turning point—for instance, stepping from age 29 to 30. But there are four of these transitions that are especially critical. The Chinese call them the Four Gates, and they occur as you turn 40, 50, 60, and 70. When you pass through each of these gates, you may experience a significant break with the past, so we’ll look especially closely at the meanings of these periods as we explore those decades.
