My mind is a powerful tool that I can use however I wish. I choose only what is best for me.

My life is filled with love and joy because my life is a divine idea in expression.

These affirmations add to all the knowledge and tools you’ve gained in the first two parts of this book, from discovering each aspect of your own hidden symmetry to understanding the cycles you pass through as you grow and evolve. In the final chapters, we’ll look at how this all comes together, first through Louise’s personal experience and then in your own journey.

  PART III

  WUWEI—

  ACTION

  WITHOUT

  EFFORT

“When the stories of our life no longer bind us, we

discover within them something greater. We discover

that within the very limitations of form, of our maleness

and femaleness, of our parenthood and our childhood,

of gravity on the earth and the changing of the seasons,

is the freedom and harmony we have sought for so

long. Our individual life is an expression of the whole

mystery, and in it we can rest in the center of the

movement, the center of all worlds.”

  CHAPTER 13

  LOUISE HAY’S

  HIDDEN SYMMETRY

I first met Louise Hay when she came to one of my workshops. A few weeks before, the organizer had called me to say, “You’ll never guess who’s coming to your workshop! Louise Hay!”

“Uh, gosh, that’s—fantastic!” I said, as my knees started knocking together. Since then, I’ve learned from Louise that this is a common experience. Everyone is so nervous at first to meet the great Louise Hay!

My jitters continued until a moment in the workshop that I still remember so clearly. At the first morning break, Louise threw her arms around me and said, “This is one of the very best workshops I’ve ever been to!”

Wow, a combination of relief, joy, and pure honor surged through me at that point. Louise participated in the class with great gusto, and since that time has attended many of my workshops and retreats, always the brightest light in the room.

I had to laugh out loud when I discovered Louise’s Nine Star Ki numbers: 2.4.3. She and I are both Twos. No wonder I felt an immediate resonance with her on first sight, despite my knocking knees! But that wasn’t the only thing that tickled me. Of course a Two would name her company Hay House. With the theme of home so closely associated with the Two nature, how perfect to give your business that name rather than Hay, Inc.; Hay Books; or Hay Publishing! Louise said she’d always thought that if she ever started a business, she wanted to name it Hay House—that it just felt right.

Two is the number that most strongly represents the power of the feminine overall, and this is why Louise’s focus would naturally be on empowering women. She says, “While everything I teach always applies equally to men and women, my biggest desire has been to empower women. Women have been downtrodden for far too long all over the world, and the women raise the male children. Enlightened women can teach little boys how to participate in a joyous, loving, kind world that everyone will want to live in.”

The Two also represents holding a place of love for the world as Mother—the Divine Feminine strength, which is total acceptance of who another person is as perfect and lovable. I can easily visualize Louise’s powerful affirmations being like the ideal mother’s voice in your ear, speaking positive and loving truths for you and your life.

Over the years, I’ve done readings for many members of the Hay House family. With great delight, I discovered that all of the people I happen to have read have the first numbers of Two, Five, or Eight—personalities based on the themes of home, community, nurturing, and compassionately helping others! Of course, no one was hired because of their birth timing. Instead, this simply shows that a system that’s healthy and in balance will attract peopl
e who are naturally aligned with its purpose.

In her own journey, Louise is a shining example of what can happen for a Two at midlife when that door opens to offer a way to step into their power. It wasn’t until her 50s that she really became the figure we now know, and she founded Hay House as she entered her 60s. Not every Two will be able to go through that door when it opens, though. The less conscious they are and the less personal work they’ve done, the less likely it is that they’ll even notice the opportunity, let alone take advantage of it. I believe that the degree of personal power a Two can attain in the second half of life depends on the amount of inner work they’ve done in the first half, as well as the continuing effort they make from there. Louise’s achievements are certainly a testament to her personal work all these years, which I see her still devoted to every day.

So we certainly see Louise’s Two nature showing up in her life, but most people haven’t been privy to her emotional self, her Four. This second number shows her inner adaptability but also potential feelings of uncertainty in times of stress. This can also result in a kind of Get me out of here! reaction that makes someone want to flee—at the worst, a desire to get out of life. Louise shared with me that because of the terrible abuse and trauma she suffered as a young child, when she was nine years old, she ate what she thought were poison berries in an attempt to escape. She lay down to die, only to discover that the berries her mother had always warned her about weren’t deadly after all. It hurts my heart to even begin to imagine what that little girl went through.

And then we turn to Louise’s third number: Three. This is the most entrepreneurial of all the numbers, so it’s no surprise that she started the business of Hay House and was able to make it such a great success. And even in the specifics of her work with affirmations, recall that one fundamental theme of Three has to do with what you say to yourself, and another theme is about change. So how perfect it is that Louise’s destiny might have to do with changing your thoughts!

Hope, optimism, growth, and change are all patterns that run deep in the Three Warrior purpose as a catalyst, an agent of positive change for the world. Certainly we can see Louise fully living her true calling here, and millions around the world have benefited in the process.
