With the helmet hanging from my hand, I reached up and ran my fingers over her temple, slowly tucking her hair behind her ear on one side and then the other. My fingers grazed lightly across the fading scar over her temple, and her breath hitched. With my eyes on her, I dropped my hand and raised my other with the helmet. Gently, I pushed it down over her head, my body heating when her eyes stayed locked on me.

After I hooked the straps under her chin, I finally spoke. “I’ll get on first, then you get on behind me and lock your arms around my waist. You need to hang on tight.”

  “Okay.” She nodded.

Turning, I swung my leg over the bike and slid forward. She took a step closer, and I grinned while she looked down at the seat. “I don’t think I’m going to fit.”

  “You’ll fit.”

She nodded and swung her leg over the bike, wiggling around behind me until I laid my hand on her thigh. Once she slid in tight against my back, I pointed at the foot pegs. “Put your feet on those.”

Again, she followed my instructions but still hadn’t wrapped her arms around my waist. Reaching back, I grabbed her arms and pulled them around me. She laid her palms flat against my stomach, and for the first time, I wondered if this was a good idea. My cock swelled to the point of being uncomfortable when she wiggled her ass to get situated. I should just grab my truck and drive her home. I should, but I wasn’t. I’d wanted this since Bull mentioned putting her on his bike the night Becs had Wyatt, so I wasn’t losing my chance.

I started up the bike and felt her body tighten even further around me when I pulled out of the space and headed across the parking lot. Her hands pressed firmly against my stomach, and she shifted her body, fitting herself securely against my back. A rush of heat shot through me at the thought she needed me, and she was clinging to me to keep her safe.

After a few turns, her body began to roll with the bike, almost naturally, and I considered taking her for a longer ride. But almost immediately, I discarded that thought. I wanted to get her home because I had every intention of staying the night.

I laid my hand on her knee and slowly slid it along her thigh while we drove through town toward her apartment. The farther my hand traveled up her thigh, the tighter she squeezed her arms around me, which did nothing but encourage me.

When her apartment complex came into view, I pulled in and found a parking spot. Putting my feet on the ground, I shut off the engine and laid my hands over hers. When she leaned her body further into mine, I dropped my head and groaned before pulling her hands from my body, knowing we needed to take this inside. Reaching down, I wrapped my hand around her thigh and squeezed gently.

  “What?” she yelled.

Grinning, I shifted to see her. “You need to get off first.”

  “Oh, right.”

She swung her leg off the bike, and I did the same. Unhooking the straps, I pulled the helmet from her head. “What did you think?”

Her eyes were wide. “That was fun. More fun than I thought it would be.”

I hung the helmet on the handlebar and reached down for her hand. We moved silently into her building and onto the elevator. I waited until she pushed the button for her floor, and the doors began closing to drop her hand, wrap my arms around her waist, and pull her against me.

Running my hand down over her ass, I dropped my head until my lips were next to her ear. “I’m staying the night.”

She laid her hands on either side of my neck, and whispered, “You weren’t invited.”

I pulled back and looked into her eyes. “I will be.”

She tilted her head back and stood on her tiptoes at the same moment I dropped my head and crushed our lips together. I kissed her hungrily, forgetting every fucking promise I’d made to myself to stay away from her for her own safety. When I heard the sound of the elevator doors sliding open, I jerked my mouth from her and once again grabbed her hand to pull her down the hallway. She shoved her key in the lock and had just moved into the apartment when she turned and wrapped her arms around my neck.

Slamming the door behind me, I squatted and picked her up while I pressed my lips back to hers. I carried her into the bedroom and lowered us both to the bed, neither of us breaking the kiss. It was as if we were desperate for each other and couldn’t stand any type of separation.

When I finally pulled away, it was only to get rid of some of the damn clothes getting in our way. Pushing to my knees, I straddled her and grabbed the collar of my T-shirt behind my neck to pull it over my head. Throwing it to the floor, I watched her lean up and shrug her arms out of my jacket before throwing it on the bed beside us. I wasted no time in yanking her shirt up and over her head, followed quickly by her bra.

She lay back down, both of us still in our jeans, and I settled over her. “This is a bad idea.”

“Probably.” I pushed a strand of hair off her face.

“I don’t care.” She ran her hands up my chest and wrapped them around my neck.

  I grinned. “Good.”

Dropping my head, I pressed our lips together and kissed her hungrily, but I wanted to slow this down. Ignoring my cock, I ran my hands down over her body, pushing them between us to lay over her breasts. Christ, she was built.

I pulled my mouth from hers and wrapped my finger and thumb around each of her nipples. She moaned loudly, and her eyes filled with heat. “You have any idea what this body does to me?”

  “No,” she breathed out.

Dropping my head, I ran my tongue up her neck and bit down on her earlobe. “I can’t stop thinking about it or the way you felt under my hands. It’s driving me fucking crazy.” She arched her back when I slid my tongue around her ear. “Never wanted someone as much I want you.” She sighed when I ran my hand down over her stomach and unbuttoned her jeans. “Never wanted to talk to someone or fuck someone as much as you.”

“Bear.” She moaned when I dipped my hand in her pants and slid it beneath her underwear. She was soaked without me doing much of anything, and I slowly ran my fingers through her wetness.

“Fuck, you’re wet.” I lifted my head and laid my lips against hers. “You always this wet for me?”

“Yeah.” She nodded and arched her back when I slid my finger into her. “Bear,” she repeated but then lifted her hands and laid them on my cheeks. “What’s your real name?”

I pumped my finger slowly, and her pussy clamped hard when she arched her back again. “John Pierce.”

“John.” She moaned, and I stilled. I’d never given my name to a woman. I didn’t share that part of myself, preferring the anonymity of my road name, but I wanted to hear my name on her lips, especially when she came apart for me.

She opened her eyes and ran her hands down my chest toward the snap on my jeans. Leaning to the side, I added a second finger and began pumping them into her, but harder this time while she undid my jeans and pushed them down over my hips. I laid my thumb over her clit, and she stilled with her hands on my hips. Rubbing her clit, I continued pumping my fingers while she squirmed and moaned, her face flushed with arousal. It only took a few more pumps before she called out my name and came hard, squeezing the fuck out of my fingers.

Watching her come apart was the hottest thing I’d ever seen, and I couldn’t wait another minute to get inside her. I stood and took off my boots before shoving my jeans and boxer briefs to the floor. Stepping out of them, I crawled back onto the bed and tore her jeans and panties from her body. I cursed when I realized I’d left the damn condom in my jeans, so I leaned over the edge of the bed to grab one from my pocket. I had it on and was back over her in a matter of seconds. Sliding between her legs, I grinned at the blissed expression she wore.

She lifted her legs and positioned her thighs beside my hips. “I want to feel you.”

Those words, her expression, and her scent all pushed me to the breaking point. I thrust into her and pumped my hips hard. She wrapped her body around mine and held on while I continued to race toward the biggest orgasm o
f my life, and from the sounds of it, she wasn’t that far behind me.

She arched her back, and I laid my forehead against hers. “Come for me again.”

“Yes,” she breathed out loudly before once again tightening around me and exploding.

It only took a few more hard thrusts before I groaned and dropped my head to her chest. She ran her hands over my back, now covered in sweat, and slowly let her legs slide back to lay flat on the bed.

After a long moment, I lifted my head and stared into her gorgeous blue eyes. “Invite me.”

She watched me quietly for a minute before smiling softly. “Would you like to stay the night?”

I propped myself up on my elbow. “More than I should.”

Her smile faded. “Are you worried someone saw us come in together?”

“Word will get out that Bull was too drunk to drive. Good excuse for me bringing you.” I told her what I’d hoped would be the case when I decided to bring her home, but in all honesty, I didn’t care at that moment at the clubhouse. I wanted time with her, with no one else around, and I would’ve sacrificed anything to get it.

She watched me closely. “What’s the excuse for staying?”

“Couldn’t talk myself into leaving.” Lifting my finger, I once again trailed it across the scar over her temple. The scar that tormented me. “I hate seeing this.”

“I know.” She reached up and laid her hand on my cheek. “Your jaw clenches every time you look at it.”

“My shit should’ve never touched you.” I ran my thumb along her bottom lip, surprised she’d been watching me so closely. “I’m going to do everything I can to keep it from touching you again.”

  “I know that too.”

I wasn’t even sure I could keep her safe, but her belief in me caused a warmth to spread through my chest. Leaning down, I ran my lips across hers slowly. “We’re gonna figure this out.”

Her eyes blinked slowly, and I knew she was close to sleep, so I dropped my head and kissed her softly. Pushing off her, I walked into the bathroom and got rid of the condom before going back to the bed, climbing in, and wrapping my arms around her. She was already softly snoring, which made me grin.

We couldn’t be together, at least not publicly, because it wasn’t safe. I needed to find out why Hawk was in town and what he wanted before I let down my guard. And I needed to do that soon.

As I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep, only one thought remained in my mind.

I was never letting her go.

  CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

  BEAR

Staring at the house across the street, I knew I needed to get this shit done. I’d spent the night with Josie and woke knowing I wasn’t going to stop wanting her, no matter how hard this would be for us. I wanted to tell her this morning about Dominic starting to work for us because she was still worried about him, but I didn’t out of respect for Dominic. Not to mention the less she knew, the safer she’d be. After last night, her safety became even more important to me. I’d woken her with a kiss and told her I had a meeting, but I’d have a prospect drop off her car. I’d also promised to talk to her later. She seemed leery, and I understood why. Our entire relationship had been rocky, but I was going to fix that.

I just had no idea how to do that and keep it under the radar.

Frowning at the house, I realized I still had no idea who ran the operation. Dominic told me he’d only ever met the guy who gave him his orders, and everyone just called him boss. Dominic never asked too many questions, which was smart. The less they thought he knew, the less of a target he’d be. And after what Gunner got on the foster dad, we needed Dominic out of the situation with no suspicion.

We watched an SUV pull into the driveway, and I glanced at Gunner, who was also frowning. Dominic said the foster family insisted they all go to church together on Sunday morning, which I thought was pretty fucking hypocritical, considering he got a kid a job moving drugs.

The kids got out, and Dominic glanced back at us before stepping up to walk beside his twin sisters. I waited until they were inside the house before I turned to Gunner. “Ready?”

Gunner jerked up his chin. “Can’t scare his sisters.”

“We do it quietly, get the dad to meet with us alone.”

Gunner nodded and reached for his door handle. Doing the same, I pushed my door open and stepped out. We crossed the street and walked up the front steps of the small yellow house with the bright red door. Reaching up, I rang the bell and waited.

It didn’t take long until a man pulled the door open. His eyes widened when they ran over our vests, but especially our club name and positions where he lingered a little longer. That wasn’t new. We were used to being studied and feared, even though we hated it.

Although today I wanted him to fear us.

  Because he should.

“Can I help you?” he finally asked.

  “You Brian Colson?”

  “Who’s asking?”

So this was how he wanted to play it. Then, by all means, let’s fucking play. “I think you know.”

He narrowed his eyes. “What do you want?”

“Need to speak with you privately,” I replied.

His eyebrows drew together. “Regarding what? I don’t answer to any Sinners.”

I thought his choice of words was odd, but I ignored that for now and moved on. “A personal matter.”

He shook his head. “I have no personal business with you.”

He took a step back and started to close the door, but I slapped my hand against it. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”

“Told you before, I have no personal business with a Sinner.”

“And I told you we need to talk. I don’t like repeating myself, Colson, and I won’t do it again.”

He swallowed hard and finally conceded. “Need to tell my wife.”

“You have one minute.” I lowered my voice. “And then we come in.”

He nodded quickly and backed up, closing the door. I glanced behind me at Gunner. “Check the back. Make sure he doesn’t have an exit.”

Gunner turned and jogged down the few steps before turning the corner and heading toward the back of the little house. There couldn’t be that many entrances and exits in this small of a home, but there had to be at least one door back there.

In less than a minute, I heard a grunt and leaned over the porch railing to watch Gunner drag the man along the side of the house. Shaking my head, even though I wasn’t surprised, I jogged down the front steps and met them at the bottom.

“You’re either a dumbass, or you think we are.” When he didn’t respond, I continued. “You were gonna just leave your wife and foster kids in that house with a threat standing right outside your door?” My face twisted in disgust. “You’re an even bigger fucking loser than I already thought you were.”

“I figured you’d follow me away from the house.” He tried to defend his actions.

  Gunner snorted. “No, you didn’t.”

“Just a word of warning,” I stated quietly. “There isn’t anywhere you can run or hide that I won’t find you.”

He held up his hands. “I don’t want any trouble.”

Shaking my head, I decided to just move on. I didn’t have the patience for men like him. Men who put themselves ahead of their loved ones. In my book, they all needed to be put down, but I stopped doing that shit years ago. At times like this, I wished I hadn’t left that part of me behind.

“I’m gonna get straight to the point.” I started, and he lowered his hands. “You have a foster kid living with you who you put in a bad spot, and you’re gonna fix that.” He narrowed his eyes, but I kept talking. “I’ve offered Dominic a job, so that means you’re gonna tell the fuckers who gave him a job running drugs that he no longer works for them.” I stepped in closer to him so I could lower my voice even more. “And if there’s any retribution, any mark on that kid or any targets put on him, you will personally answer to me.” I held his sta
re and meant every word I said. “And you do not want to answer to me.”

“Kid’s a liar,” he snarled. “He got that job and then brought drugs into my home. I’ve been protecting my wife and those damn kids from what the little bastard has been doing.”

I sighed heavily and glanced at Gunner, who shook his head. Looking back at the man in front of me, I responded. “You’re wasting my time. The kid will not be working tonight so you need to take out your phone and call his boss.”

“Right now?” His expression turned panicked.

  “Now,” I growled.

That hadn’t been my original intention, but after spending less than five minutes with this man, I already knew he’d do anything to save his own ass. Dominic had already been at the job too long and a week longer than I’d wanted, but we needed to be smart, and when Dominic told us they had a big shipment coming in and required all hands on deck, I knew removing him sooner would’ve been a mistake. He could’ve gotten hurt, and I wouldn’t have been there to intervene. I tried to convince him to stay with us for the week, but he refused to leave his sisters, which I understood and respected.

But it made my job a lot harder.

“I make that call, he’s out of my house for good,” he warned. “Don’t need the boss coming around here looking for him.”

I chuckled. “Not gonna happen. The kid stays until he graduates.”

“State doesn’t require that I keep him.” He narrowed his eyes. “I can toss him anytime.”

“Well…” I crossed my arms over my chest. “Guess we’re at an impasse, and it would seem like you have the upper hand.”

  Colson smirked. “Seems that way.”

“Too bad shit is almost never what it seems.” I dropped my arms and put my hands on my hips. “You are going to keep Dominic as long as he wants to stay, and you are going to make sure his boss leaves him alone.”

He shrugged. “Why would I do that?”

I pulled out my phone and tapped on my videos before turning it around and playing it for him. I smiled as his face paled while he watched himself shooting up. “Seems like you have a little heroin problem, and I’m holding that evidence in my hand.” His expression while he watched told me all I needed to know. “I guess this is one thing that is what it seems.”
