Reed (A Redemption Romance Book 5)

Cupping my cheek, he lifted my face and leaned down to kiss me sweetly. "You're amazing, Gillian, but I didn't want to finish in your mouth," with his explanation, I blushed and glanced away, feeling embarrassed. "No, baby, no, I don't ever want you to be shy with me, not ever. When we're together like this, there's not much you could do that would be wrong, okay? I loved every second of what you were doing. You better prepare yourself though because sometimes, I'm going to whisper naughty things in your ear."
My body shivered that time, and continued to shake with anticipation and a good bit of fear as Reed pressed me back onto the bed, moved me to the center of it and came down over me. His completely naked body blanketed my mostly nude one and I felt that thick, hot shaft pressing me right exactly where I wanted him to be.
"Do you want to slow down?" He asked, but I quickly shook my head. The last thing I wanted to do was for him to slow down. I was right exactly where I wanted to be, naked, on my bed with Reed Allen. He worshiped me, kissing me everywhere and when he slid my delicate panties down my legs, I lifted up and helped him. When he was over me once more, he asked, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure, Reed. I need you," I whispered, though my throat was so dry it was hard to get the words out. I lifted my arms toward him, inviting him to come to me.
Surprisingly, he rolled off me. "What are you doing?" I asked sharply and watched as he fished a condom out of the back pocket of the jeans he had left lying on the floor. Letting out a breath of relief, I watched with avid fascination as he tore open the package and rolled the latex down. The tattoos on his biceps and chest moved as he flexed and I gave a questioning look when he squeezed the head firmly.
"I'm so close, baby, your sweet mouth - so fucking close."
A Cheshire cat grin spread across my face and I marveled when he covered me once more. One of his hands played between my folds, fingers pressing in and spreading my wetness all around. He paid special attention to my clit, his mouth laving my nipples and within seconds I was cumming, swift and long. I could feel my insides quivering and clenching around his thick fingers that were spearing me.
I felt him, the thick head of him, as he lined up right where he needed to be and slowly pressed inside. He was so big, so thick that even with my excitement, it was a tight fit. I felt stuffed full and couldn't imagine that he could go any deeper.
"Reed," I cried, the shock of fullness and slight pain making me question what would happen next.
"Do you want me to stop?"
"God, no. No, it's just, oohhh," I moaned the last as his finger pressed my clit again.
"You ready?"
"Yeah."
Reed kissed me, passion and need seeping from one to the other, as he pressed in more and more until he met with my resistance. I felt him retreat just a little and the surge forward.
"Reed!" I shrieked, man, that hurt. He was pressed all the way in to me, and I knew that he'd broken through my barrier and was now fully seated inside. I couldn't stop the single tear that ran down the side of my face and Reed didn't miss it. He kissed away the tear and held himself completely still inside me.
"I'm so sorry, Gilli, I didn't want to hurt you."
"I know, it's okay, it's getting better." Surprisingly, that was true. The pain had been so sharp I thought it would last forever, but it was already almost gone. All I felt was full, and I needed him to move inside me, to bring me the pleasure I was sure only he could. My hand ran down over his back and I cupped his ass, urging him to do just that.
He took my cue and began slowly at first and over long minutes, sped up. He filled me over and over again, and I could feel something amazing just out of reach. I was grasping him, trying to pull him in even deeper, but whatever it was that my body was searching for was just out of my reach.
"I'm close, baby. Can you get there?"
Shaking my head, I told him, "No, I don't know - I can't, it's right there, but I can't." Before I even finished speaking, he slipped his hand between us again and pressed on that magic button. He knew just what to do to get me to fall apart. It was completely different that time, so full, so amazing. As my entire body tensed, I felt the spasms inside, I clenched him and dug my fingernails into his cheeks to push him in even more.
"God, Reed, oh my, Reed," I cried as I felt my entire world tilt and break apart. Reed tensed too and after a couple of seconds he let out a guttural moan, so loud and so deep that I was sure everyone in town could hear him. I didn't care. I floated, my body spent, my muscles so relaxed and my mind had turned to mush. He stayed planted inside me for a long time, rolling slightly to the side and taking me with him, he pulled my leg up over his hip to keep us connected. Reed's hands stroked my hair, my face, down my arm and clasped my hand in his.
"Gillian, look at me baby."
My eyes fluttered open and I stared, he was looking through my eyes, deep into my soul, and I was sure he could see every secret I had hidden there.
"You okay?"
"More than okay." I smiled, but the serious look on his face didn't change and I began to worry that I'd done something wrong. My brows furrowed and I started to look away, but again, he didn't let me.
"You are the most amazing woman I've ever met, baby. You humble me."
I gasped with emotion at his heartfelt words and I couldn't help the smile that crept across my face. "You better be careful; you might just make me fall in love with you." I was teasing, but realized too late at what my words must have sounded like.
"I hope so, because I'm pretty sure I'm about to fall right along side you." We laid, kissed and caressed for a few more minutes, until Reed finally pulled out. I glanced down and saw the evidence of my innocence clearly smearing his latex covered cock. He was looking down at it too, and I almost turned away in embarrassment, but hesitated when I noticed the reverence on his face.
"Reed?" I questioned, needing to know what he was thinking right then.
"I can't, you're so precious to me, Gillian. I just can't believe that you gave me such a beautiful gift."
My heart skipped and I knew, in that moment that if he were the last man that ever touched me, it would be a beautiful life.
Chapter 7
Present Day
"Reed, man we've got to go, but seriously, you should stay back. Wait here, this might not be anything." I glared at Gavin, I knew what he was suggesting held merit, but there was no way I was going to send my boys, my brothers along with about a half-million other officers both federal and local into an unsure situation to find my girls. I had to go. If they were there, I wanted to hold them and for them to know that I will always be there for them.
Months Earlier...
Reed
"Allen," I grumbled my usual greeting into the phone. Gilli shifted against me, but thankfully stayed asleep. If I was being called into work, I was going to seriously consider declining for the first time in my career. This woman, this amazingly beautiful woman was in my arms and I never wanted to move.
The phone felt strange, I pulled it away from my ear and looked at it, realizing that it wasn't mine - it was Gillian's. Looking over at the clock, I saw that it was just after three in the morning. A chill swept down my spine, and I knew that nothing good would come to my girl from a middle of the night call.
"Hello," I called, encouraging whomever was on the line to speak up.
"Is this Gillian Young's number," an official sounding man asked.
"Who's calling?" I shifted in the bed, trying and failing to not wake Gillian. As I scooted to the edge of the bed, I saw her sleepy eyes blink and focus on me. Leaning down, I kissed her head and covered the phone and reassured her, "It's okay, baby, let me see what's going on." She nodded and rolled back over, not realizing that I was on her phone.
"This is officer Michael Draper with the Shreveport Police Department. May I speak with Ms. Young please?"
"Shit," I muttered into the phone and walked naked out the bedroom and into the front room. "I'm Reed Allen, Gillian's boyfrie
nd. What's the situation?"
"You on the job?"
"ATF," I explained. There was something in the way we spoke, our tone or the words we chose that always gave us away as law enforcement to others on the job. I couldn't say that I knew what it was exactly, but I had experienced the same thing many times.
"Okay, I believe Ms. Young's cousin is a Ms. Melissa Dougherty, are you acquainted with Ms. Dougherty?"
"Not personally, though I know of her."
"Unfortunately, Ms. Dougherty was found DOA about an hour ago, I'm very sorry for Ms. Young's loss."
"Where is the little girl?" I asked, frantically trying to remember if I knew the neighbor's name.
"Kelly Dougherty is with a Mrs. Francis Pierce, she is Ms. Dougherty's neighbor."
Glancing down at my watch, I thought about the drive and considered how quickly we could get there at this time of night. It was about two hundred miles, but at that time of night, there wouldn't be any traffic.
"Is Kelly safe with the neighbor until we can get there?"
"Yes, Mrs. Pierce has assured us that she knows the child well and will keep her until CPS can arrive."
"Is there a next of kin listed?" I asked, wondering if someone else would need to come and take custody of the little girl.
"I understand that Ms. Dougherty's parents are deceased, Ms. Young is the only family we have on record," Officer Draper explained.
"Was there foul play involved?" I asked the question I didn't want the answer to. I had no idea how hard this news would be for Gillian, and I prayed the child wasn't harmed.
"Yes, sir. The apartment is a crime scene, but considering - well, as a courtesy, we will keep you apprised of the findings. It is important however, that you don't share the information with Ms. Young until we have a chance to question her."
"Question her, in what capacity?" My gut clenched with worry for Gillian, there was no way she could be a suspect, not only did I know that she and Missy were close, but she had been with me all night.
"Only for any information she can give, I would assume that she is with you now in McKinney, correct?"
"She is, and yes, we are at her home now."
"Then with what was done, with where she is, there's no way Ms. Young could even be a person of interest." Officer Draper reassured me, I knew that my worry for Gillian was unfounded, but that didn't stop my concern. After everything that had happened between us the night before, Gilli was my girl and I would do every single thing in my power to protect her.
I agreed to keep Gillian at least partially in the dark, for the time being and to get her there as quickly as possible. The heart wrenching task of telling Gilli that her cousin was no longer among us on this earth lay before me. My steps were light and measured as I made it back to the side of the bed and looked down at the beautiful creature sleeping peacefully. I knew under that blanket, she was naked, as we'd both fallen asleep that way, wrapped tight around each other, and in any other circumstance, I might have enjoyed that knowledge now.
I sat down on the side of the bed and watched as Gillian rolled over, and reached for me in her sleep. As her hand found the leg that I had propped up on the bed, her sleepy eyes fluttered open.
"Precious," I started, and reached out to caress her hair. "Gillian, I need you to wake up." She opened her eyes squinting up at me, probably trying to see through the darkened room. She waited just a beat before she sat up, clutching the sheet to her bare chest, the look of concern on her beautiful face told me that I hadn't done a good job of schooling my features, she had seen the distress on my face.
"Do you have to go to work?"
"No, sweetheart. I need to talk to you, and then we need to get dressed. Are you awake?"
She nodded and I noticed that her face had gone pale. I turned on the bedside light and the soft glow illuminated her delicate features.
"It's your cousin, Missy. That was the Shreveport PD honey. Something has happened."
"Did she leave Kelly again?" She rushed out before I could continue.
"No, precious, something happened to Missy. They found her, something happened and she isn't, she's..." I struggled, trying to find the words, searching for a way to tell her that would soften the blow. The problem was, I knew that there wasn't anything I could say that would do that for her.
"She's what? Is she okay?" I could see the utter devastation on her face even before I confirmed her worst fear.
"No, precious, she's not. She's dead." I watched the play of emotions cross her face, from shock, to horror, to fear, to grief. It took a few moments for her to get herself together enough to whisper her next question.
"Is Kelly okay?"
"She's fine, with the neighbor, Mrs. Pierce." A tear ran down her soft cheek, and as her body trembled, I pulled her into my arms.
"I need to go, need to get there." She tried to move around me, even with tears now streaming down her face, her body jerked, hard and it took me a second to realize what she was doing.
"Yes, baby, we'll go. Just, let me, let me hold you a minute." I held her around the middle and pulled her into my lap. Gillian wrapped her arms around my neck, her naked torso pressed into mine, her head nestled in the crook of my neck and wailed. Her sobs were so loud, so heart broken, that I knew it would take a miracle to settle her down.
It took about five minutes before she quieted. With an inner strength I'd never seen in anyone before, she stiffened her spine and pulled back. "I need to go; I have to get Kelly." She nodded, as if trying to convincer herself and without an ounce of shame, she slid off my lap and walked naked across the room to her dresser. Later, I would wonder how I was able to keep my own body under control as I watched the hypnotic sway of her slightly rounded hips as she moved.
"All right, let's get dressed," I finally agreed, standing to find my own clothes. Thankfully I had a go bag in my truck, with some basic essentials; toothbrush, change of clothes, deodorant and the like. I also had water bottles, protein bars and some other shit in there, but thankfully I didn't need the emergency part of my go bag now.
It only took about twenty minutes for both of us to be ready to head out. She took just a little bit longer than I did, in her grief, she struggled several times to pull herself together enough to complete the mundane task of getting dressed and brushing her teeth. I took that time to make us coffee for the road and to shoot a message to my mom, letting her know that an emergency had popped up and asking her to keep Blazer until I got back. Thankfully, mom had decided to take my dog to her house the day before, since I didn't know if I would be back home.
When I handed Gillian her coffee in one of the many travel mugs I found, she looked at me strangely and seemed to blink back to awareness. "You don't have to leave, Reed. You can just stay here."
Brows furrowed, I stared down at her and wondered who the hell she thought I was, did she think I was the kind of asshole who would send her out in the middle of the night driving two or three hours alone after she just found out that her cousin was dead? Shaking my head slightly, ignoring my own irritation, I told her, "Baby, I'm taking you to Shreveport, come on, let's get in the truck."
"But, what about work, you can't..." I had taken her hand and was trying to lead her to the door, but she pulled back, stubbornly looking up at me, that fierceness clear in every rigid line of her body.
Placing a quick kiss on her lips to settle her down, I hoped, I tried to reassure her. "No precious, I'm going with you. I'll be with you every step of the way, okay?"
Relief seemed to ease the tension in her shoulders and she let out a sigh, "Thank you." I wanted to take her into my arms, to make promises to her, long term ones, but it wasn't the time for that shit.
The drive was long and silent. The officer had given me the address of Missy's apartment so I was able to plug it into the GPS and not worry about Gillian providing directions in her current state. She was withdrawn, obviously grieving and seemed to be worried. She hadn't asked what happened to Missy, but with ev
erything that I knew, Missy had gone through plenty of shit in her life and sadly, this didn't seem to surprise Gillian. I wondered for a moment, just what Missy had gotten into and selfishly, if any of that would create a problem for Gilli.
"She was going to move here in a few weeks, you know." Gillian whispered into the dark cab of my truck. We had been quiet for so long, only the soft sounds of country music coming from the radio, that her voice took me by surprise. What alarmed me was the dull, lifeless tone of her words. She was a quiet person, not needing to speak all the time, but when she did, there was a sweet happiness, an obvious kindness to her voice, that was gone now, she sounded almost robotic.
"What precious?"
"Missy, she was going to move back to McKinney. She came out the other day and had a job interview. She was going to bring Kelly and move here permanently in just under a month. She could have been safe here." Her cryptic words concerned me, and I wondered again how much Gillian knew. I didn't ask, I wanted her answers to be given directly to the officers investigating her cousin's case.
"Do you know if they are going to let me take Kelly to Texas?" She asked a few minutes later.
"I don't know, but I would assume so. Weren't you working on getting temporary custody of her?"
"Yeah, I started the process when things were bad, but when Missy got it together a few months ago, I dropped it."
"Do you have an attorney?"
"Mr. Moore was working with me."
"Amber's dad?"
"Mmmhm, should I call him?"
"Call him after we get there, if they give you any resistance, call him then."
She fell silent again and my mind whirled with the changes and difficulties that we would face after this. There was no doubt in my mind that I would be with her for every obstacle that popped up, I would help her in every way possible, but Gilli's focus was about to change. The one thing I had no doubt of though, was the knowledge that Gilli would be an excellent guardian for Kelly, there was no one in this world that would be better.
