Dead Moon: A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller
Page 23
I again watch the horseman that’s headed west disappear into the low clouds. Are we about to experience our sixth extinction? Maybe, but man has survived some pretty nasty things so far in our short time on Earth. We may be able to survive this too.
Putting my arm around Jill, I squeeze her into me, feeling safe for the first time in days. I know we aren’t, but being with her right now gives me hope. Being alive gives me hope.
Sighing, I look to the eastern shore—towards what was my home for the last decade. There were some pretty shitty memories there, and decisions I regret to go along with them, but not all were bad.
Are we destined to go out like this?
Can we survive?
If we can’t endure, humanity as a whole may have very well run its course.
Let’s hope I’m wrong.
“I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.”
~The Book of Revelation, 6:8 NIV
A MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHOR
Thank you for supporting me and picking up a copy of this book. I truly hope you enjoyed it. The fact that people are reading books written by me is still mind-blowing honestly. Not two years ago, I didn’t have a single title to my name. Even the thought of writing one seemed intimidating and unobtainable at the time. But with the help of some wonderful people in the business and of my fellow readers I pursued my dream.
Dead Moon was a really fun book to write and I hope that it came out that way. It was a relatively new idea when I decided to make it my next project after Plague. As you’ve seen on my Facebook page or on my website my next endeavor is to dive back into the Hank Boyd series with book three: Babel Found. For those that are unaware, I plan on penning a Hank Boyd novel every year as long as my schedule allows me to do so. It’s truly where my heart resides and I get super excited each and every time I think about writing about Hank and company.
Also, if you have a spare moment, could you please leave a review on the website you purchased this from and/or on Goodreads.com? It would be extremely appreciated. As an indie author, I rely heavily on word-of-mouth and social media, and every little bit counts. The more interest I get…the more books I can write.
Thanks again, Matt
