Mason rocked me in his arms.

“What’s wrong, Cassie?” he asked, his voice soft and tender.

“A nightmare,” I finally realized. “I was having a terrible nightmare.”

“You’re alright now,” he said, stroking my hair.

I couldn’t lie to him. I pulled back and looked into his eyes.

“I know all about Dana,” I whispered. “You don’t have to carry this burden all by yourself.”

He started back in surprise, and I feared he would push me away. Instead, he nodded slowly.

  “I really loved her.”

Tears welled at the corner of his eyes.

I drew him close in a tight hug.

“I know and I’m sorry about what happened.”

I pulled back and saw the tears glittering in his eyes. I reached up and wiped them away.

We stayed that way, wrapped in each other’s arms, until we both fell asleep in my bed.

  Chapter 7

  Cassie

I sat up and looked at the sleeping form beside me.

In days following my nightmare, things between us had been different. Mason seemed gentler, and I wondered if it was his way of saying that he loved me. He hadn’t actually said the words yet, but every night we fell asleep in one another’s arms. He comforted me, and I comforted him. It was the start of a wonderful friendship that I hoped would turn into more.

I looked at him and then slipped out from beneath the covers. I shivered at the touch of the cold floor, before slipping into my shoes. I grabbed a robe and threw it over me, then left the room. With the newfound freedom he had granted me, I didn’t need to stay bound up inside. I slipped out the back door and took a much-needed walk to clear my head.

I gazed up at the heavens in wonder. Who knew there were so many stars? I didn’t know where I was walking to. I just started walking.

Is it possible we could be together?

The thought kept echoing through my mind. When I closed my eyes my senses opened, and I could feel him and smell his scent. He was everything I wanted, yet I wasn’t sure what a relationship with Mason would look like. We weren’t a typical couple. This had all started off with him buying me as his fuck toy. Believing I could ever be anything more than that to him seemed preposterous.

As these thoughts paraded through my mind, I stopped and looked around. I was walking through miles and miles of desert land. When I turned around, the dark hulk of the house was barely still visible on the starlit horizon.

Then I noticed Mason running in my direction. He was calling frantically.

  “Cassie? Cassie?”

  Was it a mirage?

  I squinted. It wasn’t a mirage.

“Oh, my God! Cassie!” he gasped as he reached me, out of breath. “I woke up and didn’t see you and I thought…”

His words fell away as he went from looking concerned to pissed.

“Why the hell did you run off? I thought Ruiz had got you. You can’t just run away like that.”

I took a step away from him, taken aback by his sudden change in attitude. One minute, I’m feeling like nothing could ever take away my happiness. The next, I’m feeling like I’ve been slapped across the face, ridiculed and shamed.

“I’m sorry!” I snapped. “I needed some fresh air.”

  He didn’t soften.

  “It was careless,” he said.

He looked at the exposed space all around us, then back to me.

  “Don’t ever do it again.”

He turned around and started tramping back to the house. I had to hurry to keep up with him.

“I get that you were worried. But, dammit! Don’t shut me out!”

He whirled around, stopping us both dead in our tracks.

“What are you talking about?” he asked.

“You were worried, Mason. Deny it if you want, but don’t act like you were just pissed that I took off without telling you, because that’s what my job is, bowing and scraping to your every whim… I get it. You own me. But things have been different between us, and I think you’re scared to admit it.”

He moved closer to me. He grabbed my arm and pulled me to him.

“I’m not scared of anything,” he said.

I lost my footing and fell into him. My eyes locked with his. His voice was husky, and he looked sexier than usual.

“I told you not to get too close,” he said, “and look where it’s got us.”

His words were soft, but controlled.

“What are we going to do about it?” I asked.

The words were meant to be flirty and he latched onto it. He tugged me closer and our lips met in a kiss filled with burning desire. I grew suddenly breathless as his tongue swept in and out of my mouth, claiming every moan I wanted to give him. Standing under the stars, we were in the most romantic setting we could be, and neither of us wanted it to end.

He pulled his lips from mine and moved his mouth to the edge of my neck. I arched my body into him and groaned. Then his lips found their way back to mine, and we started to tug at one another’s clothing, not wanting to have anything between us.

As our clothes fell in a heap at our feet, my hands slowly wandered over his body, touching each of his scars in turn. I pulled back and looked down at those scars, gleaming silver in the starlight, and reveled in what had become of him.

He placed a finger to my chin and lifted my head up, so I was looking into his eyes. Then he leaned in and kissed me again, letting me enjoy the taste of his lips a little longer, before he parted from the kiss.

He had other ideas in mind.

He grabbed onto my panties, the only item left to be shed, and drew them down my legs as he knelt before me. I looked down at him, wondering what he would do next. He ran his hand up into my pussy and touched my hard clit. I had been aching for him for so long. He looked up at me as I released a moan, and slipped a finger into my pussy. I clenched down on him.

He grabbed onto my waist and pulled me down to him. I stared up at the stars, just waiting for him to take me.

Soon, his tongue replaced his fingers, and he buried his face between my legs, thrusting his tongue deep between the folds of my flesh. I squirmed beneath him, anxious for him to continue. He maneuvered his way around my vagina, lapping every inch of it, plunging his tongue in and out of me, as I gasped for air. He growled his appreciation, flicking his way around various paths, making sure to hit every mark, as I reached out and touched his head, combing my fingers through his hair.

He swept in and out of me, until the pressure that burned inside me wouldn’t be contained. I screamed and my juices gushed onto his waiting lips. He lavished me with tenderness, lapping up every drop of my cum as if it was the most delicious nectar. I lay there breathless, dropping my hands to the side and just lazily enjoying the feel of his mouth as he fed on me.

He swirled his tongue around me one last time, then raised his head and fell to my side.

I looked over at him and knew that I needed to do the same for him. I glanced down at his hard cock and my mouth watered. As he lay there, unmoving, I got up and turned around to face him. His eyes went to mine and I smiled. I moved down his body, my fingers running over the silvered scars on his stomach. I moved down to him, until my lips parted at his erection.

I caressed the tip of his cock and he twitched. I flicked my tongue slowly down the underside of his shaft. He groaned. A soft breeze brushed over us as I closed my lips around the head of his cock and moved down slowly, until I reached his balls, taking the length of him into my throat.

“Oh my God, Cassie,” he moaned.

I cupped his balls and started to knead them between my fingers. I released his cock and ran my tongue around the base of its shaft. He shifted position to signal that he wanted me to take him into my mouth again. I pushed my lips down over its head and sucked it loudly. His cock swelled still more between my lips. I began moving my head up and down, while he thrust his hips to meet every plunge. His girth grew wi
th every stroke of my lips and I knew that, at any moment, he would cum and I would taste his saltiness.

But just when he couldn’t take anymore and was about to have his release, he whimpered for me to stop. Feeling dazed and confused, I pulled back and looked up at him. Then to my astonishment, he laced his fingers in the back of my head and brought me into a kiss. As our lips locked, I pressed my hand tightly against his chest, over his heart.

He flipped me over onto my back, without breaking the kiss. I spread my legs wide as he swiftly plunged his cock into my opening, thrusting it as deep as he could go. I squealed against his lips. His hips began to rise and fall against mine. His cock filled me at each thrust. After only a few seconds, he took a final long drawback and drove hard.

  We came together.

In that moment, with our limbs tangled in a mess of quivering desire, I couldn’t get over the way he made me feel. The pleasure was almost too much.

I just hoped this wasn’t another one of Mason’s ploys to have his way with me. Because I didn’t know how I could turn away from this.

  Chapter 8

  Mason

I looked around the basement. Diesel and the others had been discussing the future of the GRMC at great length.

“I just think our only option is to break free from the Cartel,” one of the guys yelled, summing up the mood of the meeting.

Diesel shot a look at me. We both knew that this would be the smart thing to do. We carried on discussing, but by the time the meeting was over we had long since come to our decision. We would drop out of the Cartel.

“There’s bound to be a war when we do,” Diesel pointed out.

The men groaned, but we all knew that this was the route we would be going down.

So, we set up a plan to hit them with a pre-emptive strike at where it would hurt most – their human trafficking operations. Taking this down would disrupt their money flow.

We gathered all our weapons and decided how and when we were going to make this happen.

Throughout the preparations, I saw that Cassie was worried. I tried to reassure her that everything would be alright. Khloe also seemed hesitant, but she never spoke up.

Soon, we had our plans all set up and we were ready to roll.

I stood beside our bikes and I motioned for Cassie to come to me. I handed her a gun.

“For your protection,” I told her.

  She raised an eyebrow.

“Do you think that’s wise?” she asked.

“I think I trust you. And, really, you might need it. Use it at your discretion.”

She nodded and slipped it into her purse.

  I turned to Khloe.

“It’s going be weird not having you guys here,” she said.

  “We’ll be back,” I replied.

She nodded and turned to Cassie. I could see her concern was mostly for Cassie.

  “Good luck!” she said.

  Cassie nodded. “Thanks!”

They hugged, then we mounted our motorcycles. I helped Cassie up behind me and looked one last time towards the brothel. Khloe waved as the train of motorcycles took off.

I could feel Cassie’s arms wrapped around me and her breath on my neck. I thought how amazing life would be if only things weren’t so complicated.

We drove for hours, until we could drive no more. We pulled up in a secluded area to camp.

Cassie was very quiet. I sensed how nervous she was.

“We’re going to be fine,” I told her. “You know that, right?”

  She glanced at me.

“It’s not your job to make me feel better, but thanks. I believe you.”

We set up camp, which was mainly a blanket, and I went off to talk to the other men, leaving Cassie to ponder over where things were with us. I couldn’t read her thoughts, but I could be sure she still had bouts of confusion.

After I’d talked to the men and we’d confirmed our plans, I walked over and took a seat on the ground next to her. She looked cold but didn’t complain.

“Do you really think we’ll be alright?” she asked.

She looked up at me and it took every ounce of my being not to pull her to me and kiss her worries away.

“I know we’ll be alright.” I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her against my chest. I planted a soft kiss to the top of her head, as a way of reassuring her, then repeated the words.

  “We’ll be just fine.”

I believed them, too. We were well protected, and nothing was going to keep us from getting through. I just knew it.

  Khloe

It was two days after they’d rode away. I was nervously watching outside. Every time I heard a little sound, I felt like something horrible was about to happen.

Just when I let my guard down… that was the moment everything changed. There was a knock on the door and, before I could even get to answer it, they crashed into my brothel.

Ruiz led the way. Several other men, all heavily armed, followed in behind him.

I was terrified when I saw them, and I nervously looked around at the women gathered behind me.

“What do you want?” I asked.

  Ruiz laughed.

“Where are they?” he asked, inching closer to me.

  “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I replied.

I started to push past him, but he grabbed my arm and twisted it slightly. I met his gaze and he tilted his head, giving me a look that was intended to show me he wasn’t messing around.

“Give me answers. Where are they?” he asked.

  “I don’t know,” I said.

Still holding onto my arm, he motioned with his head to his men, and I watched as they rounded my girls up.

As the girls were led past me, I caught his eyes.

“What are they doing?” I asked.

“You give me what I want, or people will get hurt.”

He yanked me towards the door and we left the brothel.

Once outside, he finally let me go and looked at me with a sneer. My heart was racing and I didn’t know how I was going to hold it together.

“This is how it works,” he said. “You tell me where Mason and Cassie are, and I leave. You don’t, and I start killing your bitches.”

He held up his gun and I heard a collective gasp.

I looked to where the women were lined up like criminals in a lineup. Each of them looked scared to death, and there was nothing that I could do.

“So, where are they?” he asked.

He pointed the gun to girl number one. I had to call his bluff.

  “I don’t know,” I said.

He looked at me, then cocked his gun. A shot exploded and the girl went down. He didn’t even bat an eye.

I looked at the lifeless body and I felt pain. But I didn’t know what else to do. I had to protect Cassie and Mason.

“That’s quite a shame,” Ruiz said. “Do we want to try that again? Where are they?”

I could feel my body trembling as I caught the eye of girl number two.

  “I don’t know,” I said.

Ruiz cocked the gun and shot the girl. She yelped once as she went down.

My mind froze. This couldn’t be happening. At some point he would stop.

But he didn’t. Not after girl number three or after girl number four.

I felt like cowering down and crying. It had never been my intention to get four people murdered. With just one more girl to go, I needed to do something.

  “Fine! I’ll tell you.”

I gave him all the information I had. He listened as I explained their plan and, when it had all been told, I heaved a sigh. At least no one else would get murdered.

But I was wrong. As soon as I’d finished, he turned the gun on girl number five and, despite both our pleas, he shot her.

  My jaw dropped.

“I told you where they were,” I said.

  He laughed.

“Yeah, but only after you made me shoot four girls. The fifth was to t
each you a lesson.” He nodded at the corpses. “Just remember, those bodies belong to me.”

He tipped his hat, and they got on their bikes and rode off.
