"No, Avery, I want you to make me come twice," Kane pleaded, thrusting his hips up hard into Avery's palm. "Finish me."
"No, I can't last that long." Avery tightened his grip and bent forward to lick the bead of pre-come gathering at Kane's tip. Kane spread his legs wide and bent forward looking up at Avery. Avery used his free hand to cup Kane's balls, slowly rolling them in his palm before sliding his fingers down and circling his tight rim. "You're tight, again."
"We haven't been together for weeks," Kane said.
Avery smiled down at him and lifted his brows. "Because of you." He let go of Kane's cock and popped open the bottle of lubricant.
Kane chuckled at his words. The forced abstinence was never in Avery's plan, nor was it something he ever planned to do again. He never kept it a secret how much he disagreed with that part of Kane's plan, and he'd tried to sway Kane every chance he got, but unfortunately his mister had unwavering patience.
"Loosen me." Kane's tone was husky, sensual, and Avery's cock jerked at the command. His lover's words held a hint of dominance, and he wanted nothing more than to submit.
"You'll come if I play down here too long," Avery said and pushed his finger inside his husband's tight passage. He easily found his prostate and began to massage. In that same moment, he reached up and gripped Kane's cock, stroking him hard and fast. He knew exactly what he was doing to Kane and loved making him beg. Kane dropped his head back against the pillow and lifted his hips, groaning loudly. He worked Kane until his second finger slid easily inside the tight passage.
He kept the firm grip on his husband's weeping cock and deepthroated Kane on the first try.
Kane's hips bucked, forcing his cock deeper inside his mouth. Avery relaxed his throat muscles allowing Kane to take what he needed while he worked the gland, massaging Kane open in order to add a third finger. Kane's fingers tightened in his hair, forcing him farther down on his rigid cock. He gasped for air as his husband picked up the pace and fucked his mouth hard, hitting the back of his throat.
"Now…" Kane growled, and Avery tore free of his hold, catching his breath. The look of sheer passion filling Kane's face had Avery's dick leaking. This man was his perfect partner. He was so sexy, Avery's need to be inside him almost won out, but he knew exactly what Kane needed, and he was going to make damn sure he took care of his husband.
"You're not ready. You like to be open," Avery said and never stopped the scissoring of his fingers.
"I am." Kane lifted his hand, cupping Avery's head. He pulled him down, then thrust his tongue deep into his mouth, kissing him with all the emotion inside him. Avery felt warm fingers wrap around him as Kane began to stroke his aching cock.
"Baby, now. Let's do this now," Kane breathed against his lips.
Avery wouldn't give in. He broke from the kiss and continued to pump Kane with one hand, massaging him completely open with the other. When he was certain Kane couldn't take another minute, he poured a generous amount of lube on Kane's rim and his cock before he pushed against Kane's hole. Heat engulfed him as Kane took all of him, making the moment perfect. Avery held perfectly still, allowing Kane's body to adjust to the penetration. Kane hissed and reached for him, tugging him down on his chest. He wrapped his thighs around Avery's waist and ran his hands up Avery's back, twisting his fingers in his hair.
"I love you," Avery whispered and slid his hands under Kane's back, gripping his shoulders as he slowly began to move his hips, pulling almost out and slowly pushing back into that delicious tightness, moving faster and harder with each thrust.
"I…love…you…" Kane whimpered.
Avery gritted his teeth and closed his eyes, burying his face in the crook of Kane's neck. He wanted this to last, but the force of Kane's muscles gripping him felt too good. "You're finally mine."
"And you're…finally…mine…" Kane declared, his hips rising to meet Avery's, thrust for thrust.
"I've been yours since the first moment I laid eyes on you. Today was for you, baby." Avery gripped Kane's shoulders tighter, holding him in place as he drove himself deep into Kane's body. His knees dug into the mattress as he tried to get better leverage. He couldn't get close enough to Kane, couldn't get deep enough in the man he loved. He slammed his hips wildly against Kane, their loud grunts and moans filled the room, and the sound of their bodies slapping together added to the heat of the moment. Avery managed to slide his hand between their sweat-coated bodies and pump Kane's hard cock. His rhythm was erratic, he couldn't keep the pace, not with the way Kane's tight ass grasped him, but he wanted Kane to come before he did.
His body strained, and he screwed his eyes shut, trying to prevent his release. He hung on until he felt Kane's cock twitch and hot jets of thick cream shot between his fingers and splattered on his chest. Kane shuddered and moaned beneath him, and his ass contracted around him. The smell and feel of Kane's release drove him insane. He grabbed Kane's thighs, pushed them back, lifting him higher, and plunged into him, pistoning his hips like a jack hammer. "Yes. So…good, baby." It wasn't a second more before his own release hit, and his cock jerked deep inside Kane's hot ass as he filled him with his come.
"You're amazing," Avery roared as he slumped forward, falling on top of Kane. It took several minutes for the pounding of his heart to ease and his breathing to return to normal. Kane was under him, supporting all his body weight, but he couldn't move. Avery lay there for a while, lost in the feeling of Kane's heart beating against his. His love for this man overwhelmed him; he was so lucky to have found his perfect partner. He pushed himself up and moaned when his softening cock slipped free of Kane's warm body. Avery hated the feeling of loss. He would stay buried in Kane forever if he could. Avery leaned in to kiss his new husband, yet his world lay softly snoring underneath him.
Avery gave a soft chuckle, staring fondly at the love of his life. Kane had been so tired, he'd passed out. He hadn't even felt Avery rise to clean them, or when he tucked the covers around them. Avery curled in tight, wrapping himself around Kane. They always slept snuggled closely next to one another. Neither moved too far from the other as they slept. Tonight they seemed even closer than ever before. Avery registered faint sounds of music blaring from the tent outside.
They'd done it. Tomorrow Kane would legally take his name, becoming the beneficiary on all that was his, then they would truly be one. That had been a trick that took Avery months to get Kane to agree to, but in the end, he had. Avery smiled a sleepy smile and closed his eyes. Everything was right in his world. Kane had finally become his.
Chapter 15
July, 1978 ~ Stillwater, Minnesota
"Babe," Avery called out, barely inside the kitchen through the garage side entrance, only to find it deserted. Damn! Of course this would be the day that Kane wasn't in here cooking away or cleaning their already spotless house. He could hardly contain himself as he dashed through the kitchen into the spacious living room.
"Kane, where are you?" This time he almost yelled the words.
"I'm up here!" he heard Kane reply. Avery centered in on the master suite upstairs. He took the stairs two at a time and hurried down the hall, rushing around the corner, keeping up his pace as he stepped into their bedroom. Kane had his eyes glued to a five-inch-thick microcomputer manual on his desk while pecking away at the small keyboard in front of him. Every few seconds he would lift his eyes and watch the screen, his brow narrowed. "Dang!"
"Dang, what?" Avery said, slowing his stride as he got closer to the desk where Kane sat. All of the sudden his stomach lurched and his heart began to pound in his chest as his excitement turned to uneasiness. He gripped the thick file folder in his hands as he leaned in to kiss Kane's perfectly pouty lips. Damn! Why was he so nervous now? He knew that answer. Kane was definitely going to fight him on what he held in his hands. Avery realized he wanted Kane to be on board with this more than anything in the world. He wanted this life for them, and the folder he gripped tightly in his hands made his wants a possible reality.

br /> "I can't see how these things are gonna streamline anything. You have to research for hours to learn how to even type the information in correctly and one bad keystroke and the whole thing is messed up…" Kane hadn't really turned from the screen to kiss Avery. His eyes were still glued to the dark monitor with the green flashing cursor. The blinking cursor reminded him of the beat of his own nervous and overactive heart. Could that stupid curser be mocking him now? Avery rejected the crazy thought, but the longer he stood there, the more frantic he became, which was so completely outside of his normal personality.
"I think it's mocking me." Kane said exactly what Avery was thinking before dropping his gaze back to the manual.
"Can you take a break? I've got something I really need to talk to you about," Avery said, leaning back against Kane's desk. He stopped short of stepping in front of Kane, but came close. He needed Kane's full attention. What he had to say was very important to both of them.
Kane looked up at Avery, but looked immediately down again as he continued to type. Avery waited a second more, telling himself this wasn't a good time. He should let his husband keep working. The thing was, his heart wouldn't allow him to put this conversation off any longer.
"What's up?" Kane finally asked and that gave Avery all the invitation he needed. Avery laid the file folder he held in his hands on top of the manual Kane continued reading from.
"What is it?" Kane asked, all his attention now centered on Avery. Finally! Avery's heartbeat intensified as he reached over to drag his desk chair next to Kane's and sat down beside him. His mouth went dry as he started to speak, but he managed to smile at Kane and kept on task.
"Honey, I have something I've been following for a while. I never mentioned this to you, because I didn't want to get our hopes up," Avery said as he opened the file folder. He could see Kane's eyes were immediately drawn to the first page, narrowing as he began to read the print. That had Avery picking up the pace, talking without really thinking. He wanted to get this out before Kane had a chance to figure out where he was going with all this.
"Babe, look at me, not the file for a minute." Kane actually lifted his eyes and met his for a moment, but cut his gaze back down to the folder. Avery was forced to continue without being able to gauge Kane's reaction. His usual smooth-talking ways abandoned him, and he blurted out what he should have padded.
"The first test tube baby was born today. He's healthy and strong and I want us to try and have a test tube baby," Avery sputtered, and Kane jerked his gaze up. Their eyes connected for several heartbeats. Under normal circumstances, Kane's facial expressions would have been comical. He ranged from uncertainty as if he hadn't heard Avery correctly, then to shock, and now doubt was beginning to cloud his eyes. Avery didn't like that look at all.
"Avery…" Kane began, hesitation clear in his tone.
"No, now listen. The doctors have given this baby a clean bill of health. I've been tracking this from the beginning. The pregnancy and birth were normal. The baby's doing great. The doctors are saying he's healthy, normal, just like a new baby conceived the natural way. I made phone calls, Kane. I'm getting this information firsthand."
Kane didn't say a word. He only stared at Avery. With no response from his husband, he had no idea what to say. Avery understood this was coming out of thin air, he was blindsiding Kane, and there might be a moment of uncertainty, but dead silence with no discussion just wasn't like them. They had always been open and honest with each other and could talk about anything. Avery forced himself to calm down.
To say they hadn't ever spoken about anything like this was an understatement. They'd never really talked about having children. They were secluded here, tucked away in their little part of the world, living their lives together. It had never been even a small option that they might become parents, but Avery still didn't like the silence, and he knew Kane well enough to know what their obstacles were.
"Honey, is it even legal for us to do this?" Kane began and actually shook his head no before looking away from Avery and closing the file folder as though the discussion were over before it had even begun. That single action slapped at Avery more so than the craziness of the legality argument. Avery was angrier than he had ever been with Kane. They never fought, but the emotion pouring through him needed an outlet and it looked like right now Kane was going to be it.
"Dammit, Kane! I'm so sick of that look you get in your eyes whenever I suggest we do anything a normal couple would do. We're gay, we're in love, and we're married. It's not wrong. We're not wrong! Why can't you get that through your thick skull?" Avery rarely got this angry and never with Kane.
He was up and out of his chair, the rant flowing easily from his lips. Kane sat back, becoming more stone-faced and calm. Reason shouted those were Kane's natural defense mechanisms coming to the forefront, but he'd already worked this out in his mind. He'd followed this for the last year. Reason had nothing to do with this moment.
Kane didn't respond, merely sat back and stared at Avery. That had him pacing now, trying to calm himself.
"Do you want children, Kane? I thought that would have been important to you."
"I don't know—" Kane began, but Avery cut him off.
"Bullshit! You do know!" Avery was back in his face, calling him on that blatant lie. Kane had grown up considering himself a family man.
"Avery, please calm down," Kane tried again, but now his voice was monotone. Kane was fully in his passive, relaxed, anxiety mode, and again, it sent fire coursing through Avery's veins. He thought he had not only broken through that shell but that Kane had abandoned those walls a long time ago.
"No! I won't calm down. You would make a wonderful father. I see how you are with the children at church. You glow and gush all over them. I want that for us! I want to watch you hold our babies and glow and gush over them. I want to watch you care for our children. And now we have a fucking chance to make that happen. I want this, Kane." Avery shoved the folder into Kane's lap and got right in his face as he spoke. Through it all, Kane stayed quiet.
"Goddammit! I can see it in your eyes. We aren't wrong. My love for you isn't wrong." Avery flung his hands in the air and stormed out of the room. His anger fueled each of his steps as he pounded down the stairs and out the back door, letting the screen door slam in his wake. He had no idea where he was going, but seconds later, he'd jumped in his Corvette and peeled out down the driveway. He needed to get away. Kane was so frustrating. After everything he'd done, everything he'd given, Kane still didn't believe in them enough to extend their family and that realization hurt. Damn! He slammed his fist into the steering wheel, and pressed on the gas, picking up speed until he hit the highway. What more could he have done?
The house was dark, all except for the lamp Kane had on as he sat on the sofa, waiting for Avery to come home. The grandfather clock chimed twelve forty-five in the morning, and with a frustrated sigh, Kane reached up to pull the lamp drawstring, plunging the living room into darkness. His great plan for making Avery grovel, the one he had spent the last few hours formulating, was falling apart with each passing minute. Avery had been gone far too long.
Kane kept the lights off and went to the kitchen sink to get a glass of water. He willed himself to calm down. His heart had been pretty much broken since the minute he heard the back door slam shut and Avery's car revving up then tearing down the driveway. He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply before taking a big drink of water, wondering how badly he'd messed things up between them.
Regardless of what Avery thought, all the accusations flung at him, their problem today was that he'd just been caught completely off guard.
Avery's stuffed file folder of information on the possibility of a test tube baby showed he had tracked every bit of progress on this birth, yet Kane had never known Avery was even interested in having children. Something that important to Avery and Kane had never known. How was that even possible? Avery knew everything about him. He kept no secrets, but Avery had.
/>
It took hours after their fight for Kane to even work himself up to his own thoughts on raising a child as a gay couple. Without question, he wanted children. If things had turned out differently in his life, he'd have had a house packed full of children. But he was a gay man. Even after racking his brain, he couldn't come up with any other gay couple he knew that had children, unless they had them before they came out. Reason told Kane he wasn't wrong in needing to take this slow. Avery should have been more patient with him. He had just needed to catch up, but Avery hadn't offered that as a possibility.
Those thoughts had dominated everything until the clock struck midnight. Then all his thoughts centered on why Avery wasn't home yet. Emotion came forward. Kane had messed up every relationship he'd ever been in because of his stupid personality and crazy beliefs. He'd grown too complacent with Avery and let his guard down.
Avery never stayed out this late. Fear gripped him. His mind raced and his stomach churned at the prospect of what Avery would say when he came through that door. Would it be tonight? Maybe tomorrow? Would he ask Kane to leave?
He prayed he hadn't messed things up too badly. Over the last few hours, Kane had even imagined letting himself hold his own baby. He loved the idea of having a son who looked exactly like Avery. Those thoughts warmed his heart and sent spine-tingling pulses of happiness running all over his body. What he wouldn't give to have children to raise. He loved children and wanted them with Avery. He had just never thought he could have something as basic as the American dream being a homosexual.
Now he'd ruined that perfect dream.
Moments later, two lights shone through the front window blinds and tracked the back wall of the kitchen. Kane held his breath until he heard the garage door opening. Relief hit hard. Right then, he decided to hold his ground. If Avery wanted out, for the first time in his life, he wouldn't go easy. He'd fight to keep them intact, he'd fight for Avery. They were good together. He went back to his spot on the sofa, pushing all those desperate thoughts aside as he heard the kitchen door open. Kane steeled his spine and let resolve blanket his soul.
