Leon looked at her in shock, “She was pregnant?” he asked in shock

“It looked that way.” she said, “She should be fine now. They will bring her down after she wakes up.”

  “Thank you.” said Leon

The doctor left him in the room. Leon prayed again for saving his wife and for strength. Leon had to lie down. He lay on the couch and closed his eyes. He drifted off to sleep when they rolled her into the room. He jumped up and waited until they finished moving her. She looked beat. He stood by her head and held her hand. She looked at him and smiled.

“How are you feeling?” he said kissing her cheek

“I feel much better. What happened at your meeting?” she said holding his hand

“I moved it to later today. I wanted to spend sometime with you and the babies.”

  “How is Claire?”

“She is in heaven. Aunt Rose is spoiling her with whatever she wants.” he said kissing her hand

“We need to pick names for our babies.” she said “They threw us a curve ball.”

Leon laughed, “They threw the whole damn team at us. Olivia said she will get some things to hold us over until we get home.”

“I love my sis. Mr. De Leon, what will we name our kids?” she smiled as she touched his face

“Austin Michael for the boy and Angela Lauren De Leon.” he said looking into her eyes

  “Angela was my mother’s name.”

“I know.” he smiled, “What you think of the names?”

She pulled him close and kissed him, “I loved those names.” she said against his lips, “You know we will be so busy with the babies that we will be too tired for anything but sleep.” she laughed

He laughed against her lips. He looked at her and pushed her back.

“You know you were pregnant.” he said looking in her eyes.

She smiled and looked at her hands, “I know.” she said as a tear fell

Leon kissed her face and lay next to her. She wept as he held her. They held each other as they mourn the life lost.

“Leon, I want to see my babies.” she said against his chest

Leon left the room. He came back with a wheelchair. He picked her up and sat her in the chair. He put a blanket around her leg and wheeled her to the nursery. He opened the door and told the nurse he wanted to see his babies. They showed him towards the room. He helped her up as they looked at their babies. Natalie touched the glass and smiled at her little angels. She kissed the glass and sat down. She held his hand as he kissed her lips.

“They are so beautiful.” she said crying

“You are beautiful.” he said, “Let’s get you back to bed.”

Natalie smiled as he wheeled her back to her room. He picked her up and put her in bed. She sighed as he covered her up.

“I have to go but I will be back. Get some sleep.” he said as he kissed her, “I love you.”

“I love you too.” she said as she kissed her

Leon walked to the door and looked at her and smiled, “Get some sleep.”

Natalie smiled and closed her eyes.

Natalie sat up in the bed eating the food that she was given. She waited for Leon. She used the restroom. She brushed her teeth and washed her face. She felt better than this morning. She got back into bed and watched TV. The sun was setting when Leon walked into the room with Claire and Aunt Rose. Natalie smiled and held her arms out to her baby. Claire reached for Natalie. Claire kissed her mom. Natalie hugged her tight and kissed her. Aunt Rose kissed her.

“I saw those precious gifts. They are gorgeous.” said Aunt Rose

“Thank you.” she said looking at Claire, “Claire, have you been good for your auntie?”

Claire smiled and started talking in baby talk.

“I miss you.” said Natalie as she kissed her again

“We got permission to stay with you tonight.” he said as he put Claire bed together.

“Yes, he said I am spoiling her.” said Aunt Rose sarcastically

“Yes you were Aunt Rose.” he said as he kissed her

“On that note I am going home. I will see you tomorrow.” she said kissing Natalie and Claire

Natalie laid Claire down with her. Leon gave Natalie her favorite book and she read to her daughter. Claire listened to her mother read her the book of Nicolas Pipe. She closed her eyes and fell asleep. Natalie caressed her forehead and played with her curls. She held her as she too drifted off to sleep. Leon watched over his family and smiled. This was his life. No job, money or anything was worth more than his family.

Leon got Claire some breakfast before she woke up. He came back and they were wheeling the babies into the room. He got there as the nurses were about to leave.

“Are they all right?” he asked

“Yes, the doctor said their lungs were fine. He thought it was time they spent time with their parents.”

Leon opened the door. Natalie and Claire were still asleep. He put the food down picking up one his children. He held him close looking at him. He was small with sandy brown hair. He opened his eyes as Leon held him. His eyes were brown. He closed his eyes as he went back to sleep. He put him down picking up his daughter. Her eyes were open as she looked around. He picked her up and held her closely. She looked like Natalie. Leon was enchanted with his daughter. Natalie woke up moving off the bed. Leon put his daughter down and helped her. She smiled and went into the bathroom. He stood by the door. He helped her back to the bed. When she saw the babies she wanted to go to the sofa. He picked her up and carried her to the sofa. He gave her Angela. She held her kissing her cheek. She checked to make sure she had all her fingers and toes. She took off her hat and saw the black hair. She looked into her light brown eyes. She smiled. Leon gave her Austin as he took Angela. Austin looked like Leon but his eyes were brown. Austin was looking at Natalie smiling. Her heart just melted. Claire woke up and called for Leon. He picked her up and kissed her. He brought her over sitting her in the middle. She looked at the babies and smiled at them. Natalie put Austin in her arms.

“Claire this is your brother, Austin.”

Claire looked at him and hit his fingers. Austin cried. Natalie took him and rocked him. Leon told her not to hit the baby. He put Angela in her arms.

“Claire, do not hit the baby.” he said, “This is your sister, Angela.”

Claire smiled at Leon and smiled at the baby. They sat there getting to know each other.

Leon had brought Natalie’s bag to the hospital. She took a shower, brushes her teeth and combed her hair. They were waiting on Austin to urinate. He had got circumcised that morning and they needed him to use the bathroom before they released him. Leon had the rented car packed with their suitcases and three babies car seat. As they sit and waited, his phone ranged.

  “Hello.”

“Mr. De Leon, this is Terrace Smith from the PBC Company. We would like to meet with you today to discuss buying land that belongs to you.”

“We can meet at my Aunt Rose’s house on Lime Street at five.”

“We will be there.” said Terrace

Natalie looked at him as he got off the phone, “Are you really going to sell?”

He moved closer to her and touched her cheek, “It depends on two things.” he said

  “What are the two things?”

“How much they are offering and how my wife feels about it?” he said as he kissed her

“What if they offered a half a million dollars but I did not want to give up our spot?”

“Wow a half a million, you know what I could do for that amount of money.” he said smiling

  “Leon!”

“I was just joking.” he said kissing her lips, “I would not sell.”

“We would compromise.” said Natalie smiling at him, “They can have the land if they built a small home by the waterfall for us to live when we come here to visit.”

He kissed her, “I will make that a clause for you.” he said looking around, “I am wondering how
are we going to get the three of them off the plane and how are we going to situate them in the house.”

“I do not know but it will be interesting.” she said

The nurses brought the babies to them. While Natalie packed the supplies up and put them on their clothes, Leon signed his family out of the hospital. He grabbed the bags and took them to the car. He came back for Natalie and the babies. They left the hospital and went to his aunt’s house. Their plane did not leave until eight in the morning. Natalie had time to relax and figure out how they we going to get home.

Leon was sitting at the table with a tall blond man with perfect teeth and golden skin.

“Mr. De Leon, you own the land that we would like to buy at a reasonable price.”

Leon looked at the man sternly, “What is that price?”

“We would like to buy the 30 acre land and the 5 acre of land that belong to your father and mother that expands to a waterfall. We are prepared to offer you this amount.” he said giving him a folded paper

Leon looked at it and folded it back up. He handed it to Natalie who was sitting on the sofa feeding Austin. She opened it up then looked at him. He looked into her eyes as she rolled her eyes and continued to feed the baby.

“Mr. Smith that is a very nice offer.” he said, “If I am correct you will get prime real estate that most people would kill for. It is not every day you would have a waterfall untouched by human hands. Which also extends into the 30 acres of land you also want to buy? These properties have been in the family for years and now you want me to settle for that amount. I have a family to support.” asked Leon pushing the paper back

“What price do you want for the land?” smiled Mr. Smith

Leon gave the paper to Natalie; she wrote a figure and gave to him. Leon smiled and looked at her as to say ‘Really?’. Natalie smiled as Leon gave the note to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith coughed and pulled out his phone and called his office. He spoke to the manager as he looked at Leon. Leon did not show any emotion but kept a cool head.

Claire came and pulled on his leg. Leon smiled and picked her up and kissed her head. Mr. Smith took a few minutes wrote another figure on the paper. He slid it to Leon. He looked at it and showed it to Natalie and she took it and wrote another figure and Leon did not look at it but gave it to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith was on the phone and looked at the number and told it to his boss. He looked at Leon again and hung up the phone.

“My boss said yes to the price you have offered. We will send over the paperwork for you to look over and sign.” he said shaking Leon’s hand

Leon walked him out the door and thanked him for coming. He closed the door and looked at Natalie.

“What was your price?” he asked

“I told him 33,000.00 per acre.” she said smiling, “which is over a million dollar.”

Leon sat next to her and shook his head, “I love you.”

She kissed him, “Let’s go home.” she said

  “Let’s go.” he said

The flight was long and tiresome. Leon had to make two trips to put the entire luggage in his car then came back to help Natalie with the three babies. They made it home. Natalie took Claire and Angela in the house as Leon took bags out of the car. She came back for Austin and the bags of supplies in the house. She sat the seat in front of the sofa and tried to catch her breath. Leon took the bags in the room and came back and sat next to Natalie. The kids were asleep and Natalie tried to think of where they were going to put the babies. She was in deep thought when her phone ranged.

  “Are you home?” asked Jessie

  “Yes. We just got in.”

“We heard what happened. Olivia called Nancy. Are you and the babies okay?”

  “We are fine.”

“We will be there in a minute. We have something for you and the babies.”

Natalie sigh, “You did not have to do that.”

“I know but it gives us an excuse to look at babies and to see your husband.” smiled Jessie

“I am going to ignore that last part.” smiled Natalie

“We will see you in a bit.”

Natalie hung up the phone and kissed her husband who was asleep. She left the four of them in the living room as she went to unpack. She had finished unpacking and took the dirty clothes out to the garage. She had unpacked Leon’s bag as well. She put the supplies from the hospital in the cabinet and sat down. She heard a knock at the door. She opened it and smiled at the women. Natalie put her fingers to her lips for them to be quiet. The women looked at the three angels sleeping. Natalie touched Leon who looked at the women and smiled as he stretched and kissed Natalie.

Jessie whispered, “Why don’t you put your muscle to use and get the box out of the truck for me?” she asked

Leon went to the truck and brought back two boxes that were cribs. Natalie hugged the ladies. Leon came back to the living room and hugged each woman.

“Thank you.” said Leon as he went to get tools to put them together

Claire woke up and wanted out of the chair. Natalie took her out and changed her diaper. She put her on the floor. Claire crawled to her toys and began to play. Austin opened his eyes and looked at the lights. Jessie picked him up.

“He looked like Leon.” said Stacy as she took him from Jessie

“He is so cute.” said Nancy

“She is a doll.” said Jessie picking up Angela

They sat with Natalie for a little bit before they had to go.

“Yeah we have to go to work tomorrow. You know how the boss is such a pain.” smiled Jessie

“If you do not want your rent to go up, you better act nice.” said Natalie as she gave them a hug

  “See you later.” said Nancy

Natalie closed the door as she turned to look at her children who seem to be looking at her with a strange look. Natalie got ready for the feeding frenzy. She took the twins into the kitchen and sat them on the table. She called Claire to come and eat. Claire crawled to her. Natalie picked her up and put her in the high chair. She opened Claire’s favorite spaghetti o’s and heated it up. Claire began to clap as Natalie fixed bottles for the twins and Claire. She gave Claire her food as she began to eat with her fingers. Natalie was too tired to fight with her. She gave Angela her bottle first. She drank it with no fuss. Natalie burped her and put her back in the chair and she went to sleep. Austin began to get fussy. Natalie picked him up and gave him his bottle. He was drinking and passing gas. Natalie shook her head. She finished with him. She put him in the chair and went to clean up Claire. She gave Claire her bottle as she washed her high chair. Natalie looked in the fridge for something to eat. Everything was frozen so she decided to order food. She called Leon on his cell.

  “Hello.”

“What do you want to eat tonight?” she asked

“You could not come and ask me.”

“No, we have three babies under one and I have to watch the oldest one.”

“Okay, I will get something in a minute. I have finished with both cribs. I will be in there in a minute.”

Natalie stood by the counter and rolled her neck around. Leon came through the den and surprised Claire. She screamed and woke up the twins.

“Sorry.” he said as he picked up Claire and took one of the seats

Natalie shook her head and took the other. They went into the room as he had both cribs against the opposite wall of Claire. He had put the changing table in the middle of the room.

“This is not going to work.” she said putting the chair on the floor

She put a sheet on both mattresses and took them out of the chairs and laid them down

“This will have to do for now.” he said as he stood in the door way

She went to him and kissed him, “I love you.”

He hugged her, “I love you too.”

Claire was in her crib playing while the twins slept. Leon looked at the room.

“This will be real interesting.” he said walking to his room

“Yes it will.” she said

  20

It has been two weeks and Natalie final got a schedule for the kids. It was tough the first few nights but with Leon’s help they made it through. She would wake up and change diapers. She would dress Claire and give her breakfast. Natalie would shower and change while Leon fed one baby and watched Claire. Natalie would feed the other baby as Leon showered and changed. The twins would go back to sleep. Claire was in the den playing with her toys. Leon managed to go shopping for milk, diapers and storage tubs. They decided to take the dresser out and put their clothes in tubs to give them more room and space.

Natalie would travel to the salon to pick up the deposits. She would come back home and work from there. Leon would go into work for a couple of hours then go back home before noon feeding. Then they would give Claire her lunch and both Natalie and Leon would feed the twins. When they went back to sleep they would have their lunch. Leon would put Claire in her crib for her nap. Leon would help clean up the house while Natalie took a nap. When she got up, her and Claire would do laundry as Leon took a nap. Natalie would cook dinner and watch the babies. Natalie would feed Claire then give her a bath. She would play in the den while Natalie and Leon feed the twins. Natalie would bath a baby and give it to Leon as he dried the baby and oil them and put on their night clothes. Natalie would do the other one. When all the kids are asleep, Leon and Natalie would lie in bed and sleep. They brought bottle warmers to save time when they cry at night. Then they begin it all again the next day.

Natalie went to the doctor for her check up and Dr. Jones was impressed with her.

“Everything is fine and you are not pregnant, which is a plus.” he smiled

  “Very funny Dr. Jones.”

“How have life been treating you and Leon?”

“The kids take a lot out of you. Claire is almost nine months and the twins are almost two months. I am 37 years old. My business is doing well and Leon business is well and I am happy but extremely tired.”

“Have you and Leon had time to spend alone?”
