“I don’t even wanna talk about this shit because it’s some straight up bullshit! Yeah, for you to think I would wanna sit up and smile in the same mothafucka’s face that you were about to marry is bullshit! If you wanna sit up with Ty and see whose pussy is fatter, then y’all do that shit without me.”

Cornell had completely lost his mind. Who in the fuck did he think he was talking to like that? Star wasn’t the one and he had her all the way fucked up.

  Slap!

Star slapped the hell out of him and stood in his face daring him to hit her back.

“Nigga, don’t you ever say no shit like that to me again! Fuck that bitch. If it wasn’t for you letting the hoe grab on you and whisper some fuck shit in your ear, then I wouldn’t have even been trying to go to the extreme to see if you still had feelings for her,” Star explained, heatedly.

“Feelings for her? All the bitch asked was for me to sit back down while she waited for her husband to come.”

“Humph. You sure that was all? The way you was smiling I had to make sure this is where you wanted to be.”

“Star, shut the hell up talking stupid. You know I don’t want that fucking girl. If I did, I wouldn’t have left her to be with you.”

“And if I wanted that psychopath, I wouldn’t have left him at the altar,” she replied.

Cornell knew Star was a little jealous but he didn’t think she would go that route. Since they’d gotten married, Star felt it was no problem to let her jealousy display. When they were younger, there was no way she would’ve acted out the way she’d done. It’s a different story now walking in and seeing a woman, not just Tykise, with her hands on her husband while whispering in his ear. And the fact that Cornell was just standing there grinning like a dummy, angered her.

Cornell smiled as he walked up on her. Grabbing her by the waist, he lifts her onto the counter.

“You put your hands on me like that again, I’ma slap your ass back!” He was just talking shit and Star knew that.

Placing her finger on his chin, she brought his face closer to hers. “You talk a good game and if I didn’t know better, I would take you seriously.” With that, she gave her husband a peck on the lips and freed him from the towel. She’d already apologized to her sister and made up with her and now that she and her husband was back on good terms, Star vowed to never let her jealousy fuck up what they shared. Next time, he might not be as forgiving.

Ray’Shun had been riding around damn near all day with Ronny in search of Kush, only to come up empty handed. They had been to all the spots that Kush was known to hang out at, and they’d even been to Rock’s house. But just like Ray’Shun knew he would, Rock claimed he hadn’t seen or heard from his cousin.

Ray’Shun knew that was a damn lie. He knew Rock had warned Kush that he was looking for him, for the simple fact that the nigga was in hiding. Kush knew Ray’Shun wanted to buy some weed from him and for him to not return or answer any of his calls was a dead giveaway.

Kush was the type that didn’t turn down no money!

“I’ma catch that nigga slipping sooner or later. He can’t hide for long,” said Ray’Shun as he and Ronny pulled up to their driveway. He passed Ronny the blunt they were puffing on and once Ronny hit it twice, he flicked it out the window.

Shaniqua would kill him had she known he’d been out all day riding around smoking with their son. Yeah, she knew Ray’Shun smoked, but his ass didn’t need to be smoking with her husband—his father. Then again, she had to look at the bigger picture; look at the family Ronny came from. Shit, his parents were like his best friends. So what could she really expect from his ass!

“Yeah, and I gotta find out who this young ass buck is that done fucked around and knocked Destiny up. I swear those two girls gon’ be the reason I have to spend the rest of my life in prison,” Ronny chuckled as he shook his head. He was dead ass serious though, and his 12-gauge shotgun was screaming, Kush and the dude that got Destiny pregnant.

“Oh, and best believe I’ma find out who did that shit, too. So you don’t even have to sweat it, Pops. I’m fucking both those niggas up myself,” Ray’Shun assured his father.

Fuck what Trinity said, those were his responsibilities and he failed them. Ray’Shun felt had he been paying close attention to his little sisters then Shaniyah wouldn’t have been fucking with his weed man and Destiny wouldn’t have even been pregnant by only God’s knows who. Just thinking about the trouble they were in angered him.

Looking over at his son, Ronny ignored the curse words he’d said and couldn’t help but smile. Ray’Shun was him all over again. Some might say or thought that was a bad thing, but to Ronny, it was the best feeling in the world. Fuck what one would think or had to say; Ronny knew he raised his son the best that he knew how. Ray’Shun had never been to jail, wasn’t on any hard drugs, he wasn’t that disrespectful to the point where Ronny had to lay hands on him and most of all, he’d recently graduated from high school. How many parents could say that about their sons?

“Yeah, but don’t you go out and do no dumb shit that’ll get you put behind bars. Now, beating that nigga’s ass, I’m cool with. But that’s far as it goes! Do I make myself clear?” Ronny looked at Ray’Shun with a raised brow and a serious expression. He didn’t want Ray’Shun to think for one second that he condones him going out killing folks so he dead that shit right then and there.

I hear you, Pops,” was all Ray’Shun said as he exited the car and headed inside the house. He did hear his father, loud and clear. But he knew how Kush got down and what he was capable of.

See, Kush wasn’t a sucker type dude. He’d seen Kush beat plenty of niggas asses and he never left home without his gun on him. Kush was a street nigga, and at the young age of seventeen, he was knee deep in the game. Even so, Ray’Shun wasn’t scared and all that wasn’t going to stop him from fucking up Kush’s whole world.

Before heading to his bedroom, Ray’Shun stopped by Shaniyah’s room. He wanted to apologize for coming at her the way he did and calling her out her name. But most of all, Ray’Shun wanted to know had she heard from Kush. Knowing her lil ass, she wouldn’t tell him if she did.

“You sleep, big head?” Ray’Shun asked as he crept the door opened. Shaniyah raised up and looked at him, but instantly laid back down. She didn’t have no words for his ass after the way he showed his tail on her the night before. “Oh, so you ignoring me, now?” Ray’Shun then asked as he walked further into the room. He walked over to the bed and began tickling her.

“Get out my face, Ray’Shun! I’m not playing with you,” Shaniyah yelled to the top of her lungs. He laughed because he knew what she was doing. That was her way of trying to grab their parents’ attention.

“Girl, ain’t nobody doing nothing to you so you can stop all that dramatic shit you got going on. Just want mama to come in here acting crazy,” Ray’Shun fussed. “Move so I can sit down.”

Shaniyah fussed but sat up anyways. She rolled her eyes and pouted but wouldn’t dare say whatever it was she was mumbling out loud.

“Can you stop looking at me like that, dang?” The stare that Ray’Shun was giving her was pissing her off and kind of scaring her. After the way he was about to beat her ass about Kush, who could really blame her for being afraid.

“You talking to Kush, Niyah?” Ray’Shun asked in disbelief. “Out of all the mothafuckas you could’ve talked to, you pick a mothafucka that I was cool with?”

Shaniyah frown and looked at Ray’Shun strangely. Did he say what I thought he did? she asked herself.

“What you mean, you cool with him? Boy, Kush does not know you because if he did he would’ve told me.” No, Shaniyah was not about to believe that Kush and her older brother were friends. She wasn’t about to accept that.

“I do know that nigga! How the fuck do you think I know you was fucking around with him?” Shaniyah could tell from his facial expression that he was serious.

  “Are you saying that Kush
told you about us?” she questioned.

“No. He didn’t tell me but his cousin did. What the fuck made you skip school yesterday? This nigga got you bucking the system like that?” Shaniyah knew how crazy their parents were. So for her to skip school, something wasn’t right.

Smacking her lips, Shaniyah rolled her eyes at her brother. “I ain’t skip no school! I don’t know why those dumb folks called and said I did.” That was Shaniyah’s story and she was sticking to it.

“Girl, cut the bull.” Ray’Shun waved her off. “I got niggas there that said they didn’t see you. So you probably can run that lie with mama and pops but I ain’t the one. Now, have you talked to that nigga, today?”

“Yeah and who told you that? Trinity? I know she did and tell her I don’t need her reporting back to you with everything I do. Ugh. That’s why I can’t stand her stupid self. Maybe if she worry about you and not me then you wouldn’t be talking to all those other girls,” Shaniyah went off. Ray’Shun wanted to slap fire from her hot ass for all the reckless shit she’d just spoken. Had she not been his little sister then he would have.

“Shaniyah, shut the fuck up! Trinity didn’t tell me shit and we ain’t talking about her or the shit I do. We talking about you and that pussy ass nigga. Now answer my damn question,” Ray’Shun said through clenched teeth.

“Nope. I haven’t talked to him.” Stretching her hand out she then asked, “Can I call him on your phone?”

Ray’Shun thought about what she’d just asked before shaking his head. The nigga wasn’t going to answer the phone once he saw his number anyways.

“Nah, I been trying to call him but he won’t answer. Just let his ass know when you talk to him that I’m looking for him.” With that being said, Ray’Shun stood from the bed and was about to walk out but Shaniyah stopped him.

“But why are you trying to fight him and not Man? I’m not the one that’s pregnant by Kush.” At the time, Shaniyah didn’t know that she was revealing the father of Destiny’s baby. She figured if he knew Kush as he claimed then it was only right he knew his younger brother, Man.

Though Man wasn’t living the street life like his older brother, it was a lot of days where you didn’t see one without the other.

“What the fuck you mean by that?” Ray’Shun questioned. He knew she didn’t mean what he thought she did. Hell naw, she couldn’t have meant that shit.

“Nothing, Ray’Shun. Just go. Get out my room!” Shaniyah whined. By him asking that and the appearance on his face told her that she’d just spilled the beans.

“Hell naw. Nothing my ass! You better not be saying that nigga Man is who Destiny is pregnant by.” When she didn’t say anything, he knew it was true. “That’s who Destiny’s pregnant by?” Ray’Shun asked.

“Man, I don’t know. Just get your ugly self out my room, dang,” said Shaniyah as she made a kick at him. Ray’Shun grabbed her leg and flipped her off the bed. “Stop!” Shaniyah then yelled at the top of her lungs. She just wished one of her parents would come in there and make Ray’Shun leave her alone. She knew they heard her in there yelling.

“Kick at me again and I’ma beat yo’ ass. Now answer my question!”

Some days, Shaniyah loved having a big brother around, but right now she hated it and his guts.

“Yes! That’s who she’s pregnant by, now leave me alone and go aggravate her.” When Shaniyah confirmed it, Ray’Shun didn’t speak another sound. He politely got off the bed and headed to his room. He wasn’t going to even say shit to Destiny. He was going to let his hands do all the talking to Kush and bitch ass Man.

  Chapter 7

Shaniqua woke up bright and early and got the kids ready and off to school. She felt drained; emotionally and physically. Her heart was tugging and breaking in a million pieces. She truly understood where her husband was coming from because Destiny was way too young to be a mother. But once again, the what ifs occurred.

“Destiny, get up and get dressed,” Shaniqua said as she walked into Destiny’s room. She was just lying in bed but Shaniqua knew she wasn’t sleep. Destiny was a light sleeper so with all the noise that went on that morning, Shaniqua knew without a doubt that she was awake. “Your appointment is at 9:45. So be ready.” With that being said, Shaniqua walked out the room.

She was so upset with Destiny for putting her in such predicament. Then Ronny’s ass wanted the girl to have a damn abortion so bad, but Shaniqua didn’t see him even attempting to get his ass up and take her to the appointment. Once again, he wanted her to look like the bad guy.

Walking back into her bedroom, Shaniqua looked at Ronny in disgust. She shook her head and proceeded to get dress.

“What in the hell is wrong with you?” Ronny asked as he got out of bed.

“You already know what’s wrong with me,” was Shaniqua’s only response. Of course, Ronny didn’t say anything back. He just walked right into the bathroom.

Ronny felt they shouldn’t even discuss the shit again. He said what he wanted and Shaniqua needed to respect it. He thought it was crazy of her for not wanting Destiny to get the abortion.

“So you’re not going to say anything?” asked Shaniqua once he walked back out. Ronny went back to his side of the bed and began rolling his morning blunt. Once it was rolled to perfection, he sparked it up.

“What you want me to say?” he finally asked calmly.

“So you really want me to take her down there without you talking to her about it? I mean, just see where her head is with the whole thing. See how she feels about it, baby. That’s all I’m saying,” Shaniqua explained with teary eyes. It was crazy because she thought maybe she would’ve been the one that flipped out and would be ready to beat her teen daughter’s ass.

“Man,” Ronny started off as he rubbed the top of his head. “She ain’t nothing but thirteen so—”

“Okay and believe me baby, I understand that. I really do, but this is her body and whether you like it or not, she should have an input on the situation. She’s young but you still need to see how she feels about everything. Her aborting the baby is going to affect her more than you think. This isn’t something that you can sleep off, Ronny. Her being forced to have an abortion is not only killing that baby but it’s going to kill a part of her as well.” Shaniqua waited to see if Ronny would respond to what she’d just said but he didn’t. “Just think about what I said. Her appointment is at 9:45. You have from now until then to give it some thought.” Shaniqua then shut the bathroom door to get ready, with a heavy heart.

Ronny was really thinking about what Shaniqua said, but his mind was all made up. Destiny wasn’t ready for no damn baby and he knew that. What would he even look like letting her have this baby? Ronny shook his head because he just couldn’t do it. He couldn’t even make himself go in her room to say anything to Destiny; hell, he didn’t even want to look at her ass at the moment.

If Shaniqua wanted her to keep the baby then maybe they could raise it together, without him.

Trinity had been trying to keep her distance as far away from Monae as she could. It was just something about her that had begun to irk her and now she saw what Ray’Shun had been trying to tell her from day one. That damn girl was rubbing her the wrong way. Ever since she asked about the size of Ray’Shun’s penis, Trinity hadn’t spoken to her.

It was kind of funny that now that she wasn’t talking to her, Monae had started hanging with Eve, the chick that was once dating Ray’Shun. She never even tried to see what was going on with Trinity or why she just all of a sudden stopped answering her calls or replying to her texts. Trinity just stopped ignoring her and it was like Monae didn’t care. Maybe their friendship didn’t mean as much to Monae as it meant to Trinity.

“What’s your problem?” Trinity walked over to the table where Shaniyah was. Since the whole incident blew up it was like Shaniyah had been trying to avoid her. Trinity didn’t know what her problem was but she was surely about to find out.

  Shan
iyah looked up at her before returning her gaze to her food. They shared the same second period lunch and Trinity thought this was a good opportunity to approach her. She looked at Shaniyah as a little sister so she definitely wasn’t feeling the way she had been ignoring her in school.

“Oh, so you don’t hear me?” Trinity asked once Shaniyah didn’t respond.

“I don’t have a problem,” was all Shaniyah said back. Trinity twisted her lips because she knew what was wrong with her. Of course, Ray’Shun had informed her that his little sister was upset with her.

“Yeah, whatever. I know you call yourself mad at me because I told Ray’Shun that you weren’t at school.” Trinity shrugged her shoulders as she took a seat next to Shaniyah. “You might as well get un-mad. Yup, I sure did tell him! Shoot, I didn’t know what was going on with you. I asked him why you didn’t come to school and he told me you did. I didn’t see you that day so I didn’t know what was going on. And what you doing talking to that dude Kush, anyways?”

Just hearing Kush’s name brought a smile to Shaniyah’s face. Yes, she was mad at Trinity but it was just something about that name that made her forget all of her problems.

“I didn’t know he was Ray’Shun’s friend. Can I see your phone so I can call him?” Shaniyah asked with her hand stretched out. Trinity didn’t know if she wanted to get in the middle of that. If she let Shaniyah use her phone to call him and Ray’Shun found out, she would never hear the end of it. “Please Trin. I haven’t talked to him in so long, since my mama took my phone from me. And plus, I need to tell him that Ray’Shun is looking for him.”

Smacking her lips, Trinity shook her head. “I don’t know Niyah. You know how your brother is. That nigga will have a baby if he knew I let you use my phone to call that boy.”
