“At what price?” she called out as the car carried him away. She didn’t care if anyone heard. They knew him well enough. She watched the faces of those in the cars that passed her. Overhead a clap of thunder reverberated in her chest and another rain shower washed down. She turned her face to the heavens, letting the water free her with its cleansing freshness.
