“Harry said you were brazen, but he didn’t give you nearly enough credit,” Avery backed her up and pushed the button on the elevator. “You for her or your sister for her.”
“I don’t think so,” Mark growled as he stepped out of the office with his hand near his gun. Then Jax followed with Eddie and Logan. “Let her go, and come peacefully, or don’t its your choice, but either way you are letting her go and you are coming with us.”
“You sly little girl,” Avery almost cheered my actions. “You knew they were here. That’s why you trashed my car and forced me to go to the closest place.”
“I hoped you died in that car crash,” I returned as Brooklyn stepped out beside me. He pointed his gun at me and I took a deep breath as Brooklyn squeezed my hand.
“Trust in your family,” she whispered as he spoke again.
“You have until I get to ten to come over here or this poor woman dies,” he continued as the woman screamed and wet herself. I looked to Brooklyn and put all my trust in all of them. “One.”
“Two,” I counted for him and he tilted his head.
“Three,” he yelled as the elevator door opened. I saw my dad step out as Mark and Jax drew their guns. Brooklyn took me to the floor and covered my head as a gun shot went off.
“Don’t look,” Brooklyn kept telling me over and over again as my body shook from the adrenaline I was coming off of.
“I got her,” Logan pulled me to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and cried from the relief that it was over. He carried me into Brooklyn’s office and I straddled him on the floor as people scurried around outside the door. I curled up on his shoulder as my hand laid on his chest. I closed my eyes and listened to his heart beat as it coursed from my hand to my heart. “It’s over Londi. It’s all over.”
“Moya Milaya, are you okay?” My dad asked as he used a hanky to wipe blood off his shirt. I nodded and leaned up to look at Logan.
“Why were you here?” I asked and he smiled.
“I came to ask their permission,” he replied as he lifted me to my feet and got down on one knee. “I know this isn’t the right time or place. It will never be because I already told you years ago this was coming. The night of our first kiss. I told you I wanted to marry you, so I am not asking you. I’m telling you that you have always been my wife. I’m asking you to put it on paper to make it legal for taxes and stuff,” he smiled.
“Of course,” I fell into him and kissed him as hard as I could. It was never the right time or place to ask, but it was always the right time to say yes. To confirm what had been coming all those years ago. He had taken what I thought would become a horrid memory and poured caramel on my apple. He took the sour and made it sweet. I watched as he slid a diamond ring on my finger and nearly cried when I saw the diamond was cut in the shape of an apple.
“She said yes,” Logan shouted as he lifted me off my feet and swung me around. One by one our family came into the office while police walkie talkies got louder as more people filled in out in the hallway.
“Guess now would be the time to tell you I’m pregnant,” I told Logan and everyone froze. My dad looked pissed, my sister was almost jumping up and down for joy. Mark, Jax, and Eddie gave me the nod to say way to go, but Logan looked confused. “After the whole kidnapping thing I forgot about my pill.”
“I’m gonna be a dad?” He asked with a smile on his face. Everything that was happening in the background faded when I saw his smile. Even though there were people all around us they became a blur when he looked at me like that.
I no longer knew about the FBI coming for a body or my dad looking like he wanted to murder Logan. I ignored the fact that my dad had just killed a man, or that my brother in laws were walking away because they had a job to do. The only thing I knew was my life was finally complete. I had a family and so did Logan.
Chapter Forty Two
London - When everything works out
“That was the day your mom said yes,” Logan talked to our baby boy, Anthony. He had told him the story of us every day since he was born. He even took him out under the apple tree in my dads yard and told Bramley about it. He would tell the kids how Saint Anthony had shown him the way home to me so that he could be born.
“I hope you are leaving out the PG 13 and up stuff,” I laughed as I walked over and placed a kiss on our baby.
“I give him snippets,” Logan chuckled as Anthony smiled up at both of us as he held onto Logan’s finger.
“It’s my turn to hold the baby,” Ada demanded as Lisa and I laughed.
“Lisa,” I turned to her and offered to let her help me in the kitchen. It had been over a year since everything went down with Avery, and I had never really gotten to know her, so now that she was dating Alec and always with the family I was trying.
I heard stories of Smurf panties, but I didn’t want to know. That was Logan’s past and while I was a big part of his past I wanted nothing to do with it. We weren’t kids in a boarding school anymore. We weren’t starving for parental affections. We weren’t even missing any family. My dad and sister with their friends and families had adopted us as though we had been around all along.
“Are you happy Logan?” Ada asked and he looked over at me.
“I am. I’ve been waiting my whole life for this very moment,” he smiled. “I have the wife I always knew I would have. I have a son I knew I would adore, and I know there is another little one on the way.”
“Wow,” Ada replied. “Mom told me about the birds and bees, but you are a busy bee.”
“Ada,” Lisa scolded, but I just laughed.
“He really is,” I told Ada who seemed happy with the fact that once again she was right. I poured lemonade into cups as Ada sat on the couch and Logan put a Boppy pillow around her and laid Anthony in her arms.
“We’re here,” Brooklyn yelled as Isabella walked in the door with her sippy cup and threw herself in the floor and started throwing a fit.
“What’s this one about?” I asked as we watched her kick and scream. Then Mikey came in and laid beside her and mimicked Isabella.
“I don’t even think they know,” Brooklyn laughed as she put her hand on my belly. “Yup, yours and mine will do the same,” she smiled.
“Your pregnant?” I asked and she laughed.
“You should know by now Mark cannot keep his hands to himself,” we heard a laugh as Mark walked in with presents for my dad. It was his birthday and he had done so much for us that we decided to throw him a party.
“Sister Katherine is coming straight from the airport with Sister Mary who is somehow still alive. The woman defies medicine and science at this point,” I told Brooklyn as I welcome Kate and Eddie inside.
It wasn’t long before everyone was here and we got to surprise my dad. I savored these moments. Even though we got together often, it was never often enough for me. I still found myself wishing for a big family sometimes when we all got busy, but then I realized I had made a little family of my own and had everything I needed.
“Dad,” I whispered and nodded for him to follow me into the kitchen. “I just want to say thank you. Thank you for sending me away. Without that I would’ve never met the love of my life. I would’ve never had a normal crime free upbringing, but most of all I wouldn’t be a mom to Anthony without your help. I hope one day Anthony has your determination and your wisdom. I love you daddy.”
My dad didn’t say a word he merely pulled me in and held on a little tight as everyone caught up on the events from the past week we hadn’t seen each other.
We moved the party out to the orchard where I had set up a dance floor and twinkling lights. Logan danced me around the dance floor and once again let me dance on his toes.
By the nights end everyone had gone home exhausted yet happy. Logan and I laid on the dance floor while his fingers inched my skirt up further and further.
“Stop the angels will see you,” I laughed, as he looked up and waved.
“Hi mom,” he s
houted and I chuckled.
“Does this mean you finally believe your mom is up there?”
“It does, but mostly because I believe in you,” he replied and I smiled.
“Let’s go inside,” I offered and he helped me up, but nearly fell over. “You okay? Do you feel unsteady?”
“Not anymore,” he lifted me like a bride and carried me inside to make love to me like the newlyweds we were.
A Note From The Author:
Thank you
I hope you all enjoyed Logan and London’s story. This one took me what feels like forever to write because they had such a soulful and emotional connection that I wanted to get it right.
Southwest Airlines & BNA (Nashville Airport) were helpful with my research. Kayla Ries, my beautiful PA, was my sounding board for whenever I needed to vent about my characters. Linda Toniutti-Caselle has been with me through almost every release and she was exceptional through this one as well. Thank you for all your help.
Readers: Stay tuned as I try on another romance sub-genre. Something I have never written before. Never tried before. I still have three more books in motion, but there will be a MC romance book from me (as long as I don’t screw it up) coming soon.
