Selfless: A Relentless Series Novella (The Relentless Series Book 3) Page 10

I dug my fingers into his shoulders as my orgasm shuddered through my body. He had his cock out and positioned at my entrance in seconds. My body spasmed as he pushed inside. His husky groan filled my whimpers as he pumped his hips. Maybe it hadn’t been fair that I worked Rhys up to such a frenzy on the flight to Vegas, but I needed to keep my mind off how much I hated flying somehow.

Rhys rolled me on top of him. My hands rested on his thighs to brace myself. He gripped my long ponytail in his hand, tugging my head back as he came closer to his release. My back arched as his fingers rubbed against my sensitive clit again.

“Rhys.” It was a muffled plea as I felt him swell inside me.

His husky groans filled the room. I leaned over and brushed my lips against his. He gripped my hips in his large hands as he tried to catch his breath.

“You can’t work me up like that anymore. It’s not fair.”

I smirked. “You seemed to enjoy it.”

He smacked my ass and I giggled. “We’re supposed to be doing all those crazy things to get you pregnant, not fucking like wild animals.”

I rested my chin on his chest and looked up at him. “It’s kind of hard to get me pregnant a second time.”

  “Wha—what did you just say?”

I grinned. “Congratulations Daddy. Apparently your boys know how to swim.”

He leaned up on his elbows. “Are you kidding me?”

“Nope. I peed on the stick this morning.”

His face lit up with a myriad of emotions. He finally landed on one and spoke. “Oh my God, was flying safe for you? Did you check with the doctor? Should we go to th—”

“Rhys, honey, you need to calm down. I talked to the doctor about this a while ago. Everything is just fine.”

He was quiet as he studied my eyes. “We’re really going to have a baby.”

“Yeah, we are.” His arms wrapped around me and I rested my head on his chest. “Thank you.”

His lips brushed my forehead. “For what?”

“Making my life perfect. I’ve been waiting for you and I am so thankful that I did. Rhys, you’ve always been the one I was supposed to be with.”

We laid contently in the quiet, basking in the achievement of creating a new life. It was amazing we had found our way back to one another. There were so many things that could have happened, like the fact that we may never have seen each other again, but fate intervened. My future was always supposed to have Rhys in it, and now even though it was years after when I thought it would happen, we were starting a family together.

We walked to meet our friends hand in hand. The amazing French restaurant Taylor and Stephen had all summoned us to was beautiful. Violet’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she caught sight of us. She was so emotional when she was pregnant. She smacked Jax on the chest and he winced. We watched as she leaned in and said something into his ear that suspiciously sounded like I told you so. Rhys and I stifled a laugh. Jaxon and Gage came over to shake Rhys’ hand and give me a hug.

“So this is what you’ve been hiding?” Violet whispered.

  I nodded. “Technically I haven’t been hiding it though. I’ve just been…distracted.”

“Either way, I’m happy for you. For both of you.”

I gave her a shy smile and leaned towards Rhys. His hand rested on the small of my back. Even that small touch was a comfort and I was so thankful for it. Jax looked at Rhys arm around me.

  “Are you guys finally official?”

I flushed and Rhys grinned back at him. “Finally. I moved into her house last week.”

Violet smacked my arm. “And you didn’t tell us?”

Rhys and Gage choked back laughs. “I’m sorry, we just—” I cut off as Emmy came into the room. Thank goodness because I had no idea what I was going to say.

“So you guys, there’s a bit of a surprise for everyone. Everyone assumed that Stephen and Taylor would be announcing their engagement tonight, right?”

  We all nodded in agreement.

“Well, let’s go sit down and you’ll see what these two lovebirds have in store.”

Stephen stood in front of a small group of chairs looking nervous. “Don’t be mad, but we didn’t want a long engagement. We just wanted to be married, but we wanted you all to be a part of this day.”

Violet burst into tears and tugged Stephen into a hug. Jaxon sighed beside me and mumbled something about pregnancy hormones making women insane. Rhys chuckled and I leaned up to his ear. “Just you wait, buddy. That’s going to be you in a few months.”

His stricken face was priceless and it took me a few seconds to keep from laughing at him. We settled into the chairs and watched the beautiful ceremony between our friends. Rhys intertwined our fingers and brought them to his lips. I leaned into him and reveled in the feeling of his strong arms wrapped around my shoulders.

We couldn’t wait to tell our friends about our news, but for now Rhys and I would celebrate quietly. Gage looked over and as he caught my eye, he winked. Two weeks ago we sat down together, and I’d apologized for the stupid kiss. I had also given him an expensive bottle of scotch. He admitted that he’d had feelings for me for a while, but knew he couldn’t act on it because I was in love with Rhys. I felt so stupid for not realizing it, but it was probably for the best. Things were awkward for a few days, but we were getting back to normal.

Taylor and Stephen kissed as they were announced husband and wife. We all cheered and clapped for them. I looked at Rhys and grinned. His eyes flashed in that heated way when he was imagining me naked. Something told me we would be leaving the party a little early.
