The Groves (otherwise known as Houses in the real world!) came about because of a post in my Facebook Reader Group. As a graduate of the British education system, Houses have been a thing for me since I was small (I was Captain of the Yellow House when I was 11!) and I never realised it wasn't a thing in some other countries. That made me want to include the House system in one of my academy books. When I mentioned it to the artist who designed the Scythe Grove Academy crests, they created the gorgeous Grove crests featuring each of the plants.
