Wife To Love

by MK Moore

“Are we crazy?” I ask out of nowhere.

“Explain.” He says as he runs the tip of his index finger down my chest and around my nipples. He pulls on them until they are hard as glass.

“Falling in love so quickly. This is bound to end badly.” I am slightly distracted, but I need to know where he is at.

“That’s where you are wrong, Salenah. We dictate how we love and how we live our lives. Fuck everybody else's preconceived notions of how things should be. I knew I loved you the minute I saw you. Even with your face obscured by blood, I knew. Something snapped in me. Snapped into place.”

“When I opened my eyes in the hospital and I saw you, I felt the same thing.” In the here and now, I am tracing his abs, I watch fascinated as his cock hardens. Again.

“Then we are not crazy. It is what it is.” He says shrugging.

Huh. I have never thought of anything the way he does. He’s so smart and I love it. I love him. With Rihanna still playing he kisses me again and then slides his lips down my neck. He finds a spot that makes goosebumps pop up all over my body. I shiver and run my hands down his back.

“My wife to have and to hold forever. My wife to love.” The way he repeats his vows to me as he lines his cock up to my opening, makes me tear up.

“Till death do us part.” I say as he slides into me very slowly. I feel like my insides are coming apart. When he is finally fully sheathed within me, I tighten my legs around his waist and grip the counter edge as he starts to pound into me.

I scream and moan simultaneously when he pulls all the way out and slams back in. Nothing in my life has ever felt as good as this man does. It’s a little scary how much I already love him but ask me if I care.

We finally make it back our bed, as he reminds me. He makes love to me several more times in the night. When I finally drift off towards sleep it is curled up on his chest. Remembering I must meet my sister for the first time in a few days and his family the a few days later, starts to make me nervous.

Shit. I hope they like me.

  Chapter Eight

  Robby

When my eyes pop open, I realize the scent of bacon has woken me. I automatically reach over to the other side of the bed, but the sheets are cold. Reluctantly, I get out of bed and throw on a pair of basketball shorts from my dresser. When I walk out into the kitchen, she is dancing and singing again.

“You are the cutest thing I have ever seen.” I say. She jumps and drops the plate of biscuits she was carrying.

“Dammit Robby. Stop scaring the shit out me, please. You are fucking lucky that I have more biscuits in the oven. Biscuits and gravy cannot happen without biscuits.” She says as she stoops down to pick up the ones on the floor. I kneel and help her.

“Sorry. You scare so easy though. Why is that?”

“Oh. I don’t know, babe. Maybe it’s because I have a price on my head and everything is really scary for me right now.” She stands up and tosses the floor biscuits in the trash and the plate in the sink.

I pull her into my arms and notice she is crying. Again. She has taken the bandage off her face and it looks angry.

“Oh baby.” I say as I kiss her tears away. I hate how helpless I feel and all I have been thinking about is how to further protect her. I am scared that she will be taken from me, before we have a chance to really begin and that doesn’t sit well with me. We sit down to breakfast, which she insists on serving me. I am still not sure how I feel about this, but if it makes her happy I won’t be push her. Of course, it is delicious. I can already tell I am going to gain a lot of weight with her cooking like this.

“Where did you learn to cook like this?” I say, trying to change the subject. I am rewarded with her megawatt smile.

“My mama of course. We spent hours and hours in the kitchen. She is from Indiana. I can make a mean pork tenderloin sandwich.”

“I have no idea what that is, but I am looking forward to trying it.”

“I will make it for dinner. We can run to the store, right?” She just smiles.

“Ryan and Natalia will be here soon. He texted me a little while ago and said they are already on the road. Vegas is about nine hours from here, so they should be here around dinner time. We can hit the store in about an hour.”

“I need some clothes too.” For the first time I notice she is wearing only my Lakers T-shirt. She is so fucking beautiful, and I tell her. “Thank you.” She says as she finishes her last bite. Afterwards, she starts taking the plates away and loading the dishwasher. When I start to help she growls at me. I sit my ass back down.

“Fuck, baby. That was sexy as hell.” Since it is just the two of us the cleanup is quick.

She straddles my lap, making kissing her unbelievably intense. My hard cock peeks out of the elastic of my shorts and she isn’t wearing any panties. It is easy to pull my shorts down and tease her with the tip of my cock. She moans and writhes on top me. Just as I am about to give us what we both want, my doorbell rings.

“That cannot be Ryan and Natalia yet.” She says.

A few seconds later, I hear my mother.

  “Baby doll?”

“Oh my God. It’s my mom.” I say laughing.

“Fuck. I am not wearing any pants.” She whispers shouts as she takes off running towards our bedroom.

“Ma, what the hell? I told Mitch I would be by in a few days.” I shout out.

“Son, you know I cannot control her.” Says the voice of my step-father.

  “Don’t I know it.” I say, wryly.

When I walk into the living room, my entire family is present. I hug my parents first, but then I notice Brooke and she is pregnant with a very round belly. I pull her into my arms.

“Brooke. You and Blake must be so happy.”

“Uh. Well I am sure Blake is happy, but we are not together anymore.” She looks around the room and I don’t see Blake anywhere near her. She continues, “you see, a lot has happened since you’ve been gone. I’ m married to Derek now.”

“What?” Though I’m not really surprised, my head is still spinning. I knew eight years ago they loved each other, but I did not want to get involved.

“Yeah you missed one hell of a family vacation.” Blake says. I will have to meet him at the dive we like to get more information on this.

“Congrats man. That is huge news.” I say as I hug Derek.

“It’s good to have you home.” Derek says.

When I turn, Blake is standing off to the side with a guy I do not know. I am still trying to recover from the news of Brooke and Derek when I embrace my brother.

“Welcome home brother.” Blake says. I hug him. I am surprised he isn’t at work yet, but his suit tells me he is headed that way. “This is my fiancé, Jason.” I vaguely remembering him years ago. I think he is Brooke’s assistant at the charity she runs.

I laugh inwardly. Fucking finally. I think when I extend my hand to the guy that helped my brother out of the closet. “Nice to meet you.” I say as I shake his hand. I always knew Blake was gay, I didn’t think he knew.

When I turn around I am nearly tackled by my niece, Everly. I haven’t seen her since in a few years. Facetime was not enough. She smells like summertime. Her laughter is contagious and soon we all are laughing.

  “Uncle Robby!” She squeals.

  “Hi Bug. I missed you.”

“I am so glad you are home.” Everly’s voice is full of laughter. She takes my face in her little hands and scrunches my face with them.

“Me too.” I am still holding her, when Ronnie comes up for hug.

I make the mistake of asking where her husband is, Dave is.

“He is at work as freaking usual.” She says bitterly. Her entire face transformed into someone I didn’t recognize.

Yikes. Lesson learned. I won’t ask again.

I was dreading seeing all these guys, afraid it would be like when we were kids. It seems we have all grown up. I hear a delicate throat clearing behind me.

When I look up I see Salenah. She has changed into a flower print sundress and opted for no shoes. She looks amazing. I feel an intense pride as I reach my hand out to her.

“Everyone, this is my wife Salenah.” I try to gage their reactions. The only hostility comes from Ronnie. I don’t know how to feel about that.

At first no one says anything as they stare at us. Salenah’s nerves get the best of her and she starts playing with the hem of her dress.

After quick introductions, my mom starts crying and pulls her into a hug. When my mom releases her, Everly climbs over me into her arms.

“What happened to your face Aunt Salenah?” Everly asks as she lightly runs a finger over her stitches. The rest of my family averts their gaze, but a child doesn’t have that filter.

“This is Everly. My sister, Veronica’s daughter.”

“Well, a bad man sent someone after me and he got a little too close. Your uncle saved me in more ways than one.” Salenah says diplomatically. Everly pats her cheek and kisses it.

Being a gracious hostess, she offers coffee to the adults and chocolate milk to Everly. We talk for hours and when it is almost noon she jumps up.

“Where are my manners? I should make lunch.”

“Let me help, dear.” My mom says.

“Oh no Lucy. Please stay and visit with Robby, it has been a long time since you’ve seen him.

“All right but let me know if you need anything.”

“Will do.” She heads to the kitchen.

“What the hell, Robby?” Ronnie asks in a whisper even though Salenah is out of earshot. I hope.

“What?” I shrug. I had grabbed a shirt from the dryer earlier. It had made me wonder what time she got up, because she had done two weeks’ worth of our laundry. There is something so intimate about our laundry being done together. Again, I marvel how at home she feels with me.

“A wife? Where the hell did you meet her? Is she after your money? How naive can you be?” Ronnie continues. I am getting angry, but before I have a chance to say anything, Everly pipes in.

“Don’t be mean, Mommy. It is plain to see they love each other. She’s like a princess from my movies.”

“Well, my granddaughter is right. It is obvious.” Mitch says.

  Ronnie rolls her eyes.

“Naive is the last thing I am, Ronnie. I am a grown as man who has served our country. I know what the fuck I am doing. Look, the fact of the matter is that I am completely in love with her. I would do any damn thing for her. Just as I would for any one of you. I love everything about her. It was instant. I remember when you came home from your first, uh, date with Dave. And how much you loved him after only a few hours.” Let’s be honest because it wasn’t a date. It is said for Everly’s benefit.

“Sometimes love isn’t enough. What do you really know about her?”

“Ev, will you go see if Auntie Salenah needs any help?” I ask her, and she jumps up excitedly and goes into the kitchen. I continue once she is out of the room. “The truth is she doesn’t know about my money, not that it makes a difference. What’s mine is hers. I don’t know what happened to you Ronnie, but I won’t let you ruin this for me. She is here to stay, and I would appreciate it if you would at least make an effort. I have never asked you guys for anything, but please get to know her and you will see what I do.” She doesn’t answer me, and I don’t really expect her to.

“Of course, Robby.” Brooke says. Her hand is in Derek’s. They look so comfortable together.

“No worries from me, bro.” Blake says and Jason nods.

“I know you don’t know me well yet, but I’ll do everything I can to make her feel welcome.” Jason says.

“I appreciate that man, but you are family now and I am sure we will get to know each other in the coming months. When are you guys getting married?” I ask changing the subject. I know what Mom and Mitch’s feelings are. They are completely on board with anything that gives them more grandchildren.

“September 22nd. At my parent’s country club.” Jason answers.

“You’ll be a groomsman, right?” Blake asks.

I am blown away by that. “Of course. I would be honored.”

  “Great.”

“Lunch is ready.” Everly hollers from the kitchen. We pile in and she has the dining room table set. We all take a seat. Salenah starts bringing out BLTs, potato salad, and macaroni salad. She already has pitchers of water, lemonade, and sweet tea on the table.

“Thank you, baby.” I say. She starts to head back into the kitchen since there are not enough chairs. I will have to get a new set. “Oh no, you’ll sit here.” I say as I pull her into my lap.

“Robby. Please.” She giggles, and I love it. Ronnie rolls her eyes again, but I cannot be too concerned with that. My mom smiles warmly at me.

When my family decides to leave, Salenah retreats to the shower. I debate joining her, but we have the rest of lives for that.

  Chapter Nine

  Salenah

I am feeling completely overwhelmed right now. As soon as his family leaves I make a beeline for the shower. In here, I cannot contain my tears. They are running down my cheeks unchecked. I think they thought I couldn’t hear them, but Robby came to my rescue. Again. I should have sacked up and marched back out there, giving his hateful sister a piece of my mind. I have my own fucking money, bitch. I immediately regret my harsh thoughts, but I truly only need Robby because I love him. One day they will see.

I didn’t do it because I am not one to make a scene, but I wanted to. As I am not sure how long I am under the warm water, I snap out of the haze and rush through the rest of my routine. I love that I smell like him right now. The Irish Spring body wash is pleasant. His shampoo leaves a lot to be desired. I finish up and as I get back to the kitchen, I notice he has done all the dishes. I will let that slide for now because I am dressed and ready to go. He has gotten ready as well.

  “All set?” He asks me.

“Yes. I am ready.” He kisses me, and I melt into him. We leave the house through the garage.

He helps me into his Range Rover and we head out.

When we pull into the mall parking lot, I suddenly miss my mom more than ever. We were at this mall less than three weeks ago together. Robby notices the shift in my mood and grabs my hand.

“I need to call my mom.” I say quietly. He hands me his cell phone. I dial her number and she picks up on the first ring.

“Hello.” Her voice rushes over me and I smile.

  “Mama.”

“Oh, my baby. Are you okay? Should you be calling me?” She sounds so concerned.

“I am better than okay. I got married, but I am home now. Well, my new home.”

“What? What about Angelo?” I roll my eyes. This is the only thing we have ever disagreed on.

“I don't love him Mama. I am in love with my husband and am nearby, but I couldn’t go another second without talking to you. I’ll be in touch when I can. We should meet up as soon as we can. I just wanted to thank you for preparing me to be the best wife.”

“Oh, baby. You are very welcome. I look forward to meeting your husband soon.” Just like that, she is on my side again. I love her more than I can say.

  “Bye Mama. Love you.”

“Love you too. Talk again soon?”

“Yeah.” I hang up. In that instant the cloud that was hanging over my head lifts. With Robby beside me, I feel like everything is going to work out.

“How do you feel?” Robby asks me.

“I feel so much better. But, I don’t doubt he was listening to her phone calls and he will know who you are.”

“We are not going to hide for the rest of our lives. Let him come for you. He will find that I don’t share, and I won’t hesitate when it comes to you.” He says, leaning over to kiss me. His kiss and his words make me forget to breathe.

We walk into the mall hand in hand. I buy way too many clothes, but I love them all. We head to our next stop.

  Th
e grocery store is huge, and I get busy getting a weeks’ worth of meals and snacks. Snacks are very important. I am addicted to popcorn, so that is a must to get. This is the first time I am buying things for my own kitchen and I must say I am loving it. We take our time and hit every aisle. I buy the cleaning supplies I want to use as well as beauty products. When we leave I have spent over four hundred dollars, of my own money, thank you very much, but it felt good.

At home, and I’ll never get tired of saying our home, we put everything away. Ryan called when they were about an hour away, so I go ahead and start dinner. Saving the pork tenderloin for another night, I decide to make a pasta dish. I pull out the wine and let it breathe.

When the doorbell rings, I wring my hands. I am so nervous. What if she resents me or hates me for having our dad most of time.

“Don’t worry about it, baby. She will love you.” Robby tries to reassure me, but it doesn’t work.

We answer the door together. I am greeted with a handsome man and my sister.

  “Natalia?” I ask hesitantly.

  “Yes. Salenah?”

I am surprised when she pulls me into her arms. I hug her back.

“Oh my God! I have wanted to meet your forever.”

“Yeah? Me too. Forgive me. Come in. Come in.”

I pull her into the house and Ryan follows.

“Hey Ryan. Thanks for doing this.” Robby says as they shake hands.

  “No problem.” Ryan answers.

“I’ve made dinner. I hope you guys are hungry.” I have been freaking out all day. I just want this meeting to be perfect.

“I am famished. This one would only stop for gas.” She says pointing at Ryan. He laughs.

“I know you got a hot dog at the last 7-11 we stopped at.” He says.

“Yeah, but I am still starving.” She says sweetly before kissing his cheek. His hand grips her hip.

“Oh well. Let’s sit. I have wine, beer, and sweet tea.” Weird. Who kisses they’re would be killer?

“I’ll have sweet tea. Since I’m not old enough for alcohol.” She teases, making it less awkward.
