lori peek is Assistant professor of sociology and Co-director of the Center
for Disaster and risk Analysis at Colorado state University. she also serves
as Associate Chair for the social science research Council Task Force on
Hurricane Katrina and rebuilding the Gulf Coast. she has published widely
on vulnerable populations in disaster and is co-editor of Displaced: Life in the
Katrina Diaspora. she earned her ph.D. in sociology from the University of
Colorado–Boulder in 2005. in 2009 the American sociological Association
section on Children and youth honored her with the early Career Award for
outstanding scholarship. in addition, she was named the 2010 professor of
the year, and she has been the recipient of the Best Teacher Award and the
excellence in Teaching Award at Colorado state University.
