He finally matched her pace and they walked with their full carts toward the checkout lanes. Michael was excited about having the woman close to him. Not that he expected anything. He did not even know her name, but he felt as if being close to her was allowing him a chance to learn everything he could about her. This was not entirely a bad thing. Maybe along the way he could get enough information to tell who she really was.
Michael knew that she was not withholding her name because she did not want him to know who she really was. She must have known that he would get to know her name sooner than later. To her, this was a game. The way she looked at him and smiled, the way her eyes lit up when he brought her name up or lack of, it was all a game to her.
She felt powerful not giving him her name and the guessing game was only allowing them to have some mutual fun. Not that Michael had done this before, but he knew who to conduct himself. He would not push too hard and would l allow her to play with the issue until it got boring.
There was a high chance that he would learn her name at the checkout. It was inevitable that someone would show her information and Michael did not want to spoil the fun. So he made himself busy as the woman checked out. It was not as if he had no intentions of getting to know her name. He simply wanted to allow her the power to tell it to him.
That did not, however, mean that he was not smart enough to take a glimpse at her card and learn her name. He was wise enough to pretend not to see what she was called until they were out of the supermarket. Surprisingly, she was waiting for him.
“You waited for me,” Michael said as they both fell in step and started walking toward the parking lot.
“Well, how else was I going to invite you over for dinner? Michael? Maybe then you will even get to learn my name,” the woman said with a smile. Michael wanted to laugh but only managed a smile. He had not seen this coming. He forgot about knowing her name and nodded.
“I think I am free for dinner tonight?” Michael asked.
“Yeah, tonight. Here is my address, come with a bottle of wine and maybe you will have earned the right to know my name,” the woman said. She patted Michael on the cheek before walking away. Michael stood there for a couple of minutes watching her. He could tell that’s he knew he was watching her because there was a sway in her step that told him it was all for his benefit.
There was dinner on the table now; that was nice. Michael had not seen things moving so fast. Not that he was against it, he simply had not imagined that a woman who did not want to give him her name would invite him over to his house for dinner.
She had asked for wine, so Michael packed his things in his car and went back to the supermarket. They had a good liquor store in there and he picked the most expensive wine he could get his hands on. It was the least he could do to say thanks for the dinner he had been invited. It was a great way to start a relationship. Michael was surprised to find himself thinking about a relationship. Normally, he was not the kind of man to think long those lines. Yet here he was, spending money on wine that he had never bought for any other woman.
They had not exchanged numbers so there was no way to tell whether the dinner was still on or not. Michael realized that he was just going to have to go and find out himself. There were still hours to go before the dinner and he made himself busy by taking care of himself. A visitor to the barber, some new shoes and a sweater, Michael wanted to look spectacular. He understood that he needed to make a more different impression that he had at the bar. The woman had seen him as a player, the man who never committed himself to one woman. But there was something about her that made him want to change his whole appearance.
Michael had to admit to himself that something changed every time he was around the woman. The way her eyes regarded him, in a way that seemed to allow her to see right through him. It was like nothing he had ever experienced before in his life. He knew he could not even tell his friends because he was afraid of jinxing it. It was the best moment of his life, or it would be once he went for that dinner.
When the time came, Michael made his way to the house and stood for a minute outside her door. He was about to knock when the door opened.
“I was wondering when you were going to knock,” the woman said.
This was surprising. Michael blinked, “You saw me?”
“No, not really. I was alerted. There are pressure plates around the front and back lawn, anyone steps on one and I get informed immediately,” the woman said.
Michael raised his eyebrow and looked around him. They might well have been landmines and he would not have known. For a second, he started thinking that yes, maybe the woman was a spy.
“You really are a spy, aren’t you?” he asked.
“No, you dummy. I was in the kitchen, there is the window. I have a clear view of the front lawn and door from the kitchen,” she said.
“Now I feel a little bit better. May I come in, woman who is not a spy?” he asked, handing over the wine.
“Yes, Michael. Welcome. I like your wine selection,” the woman said as she walked toward the kitchen. Michael lingered at the living room looking around. He liked the way the woman furnished her house.
“Before you start poking around for my name, I am called Tyler,” she said walking back to where he was.
“I pictured you for someone like Miriam,” Michael said. He knew her name was Tyler but he did not want her to know that he knew.
“Well, I am Tyler, and you should join me at the dining table. I have everything ready,” Tyler said and led the man to the dining room.
Michael followed the woman and soon realized how good of a cook she was. It did not take them long to settle in for dinner and start a nice conversation going. There was more to Michael than Tyler realized and there was also more to Michael than she had seen in the first place.
“You know, I am glad I invited you over to my house. I had my doubts at first…”
“Doubts about what?” Michael Asked, cutting her off.
“I don’t know. You were a stranger until just a few hours ago.”
“Strangers are friends who have not yet met,” Michael said. He got to his feet and started clearing the table. Tyler stopped him and walked him to the living room.
“I am also glad you were able to come because I have something else in store for you,” she said stepping closer to the man. Michael looked at her and smiled. He knew what was coming and he could feel his heart rate spiking. This was going to be the best day in his life.
They kissed for the first time, their lips merging as if they had been born for each other. Both got lost in the kiss that had been thought of for long. Tyler had thought about the man for a whole day, not even being able to concentrate on her meetings. Michael could say the exact same thing.
His hands started to move and he started attacking her clothes. Tyler giggled as her hands did the same to him. It was hard to concentrate on stripping each other when they could not stop kissing each other. Soon both were completely in the nude, their bodies heaving from the passion that threatened to tear through them and merge into one unstoppable being.
Michael stepped closer to the woman and held her face in his hands. He looked into her eyes and smiled. There was no fear any more, there was no uncertainty. Their fast relationship had built something both were happy about, something that would last until both decided it was over. This, no one saw happening. They were a perfect mix.
“I want to make love to you,” Michael said after a while.
“I thought you would never ask,” Tyler said as she led the man to her bedroom. The man followed her to the bedroom and pushed her to the bed. He then leaned forward, kissing her again as his manhood found the apex of her legs and went right through into her heat. The woman moaned from the penetration as she felt him inside her, moving gently, before his movements became more earnest. This was what she had been thinking about all day. It was perfect.
“Yes!” Tyler scrammed as Michael increased his pace. He took he
r to the edge and held her there, as their bodies merged in what would be the best relationship ever. Tyler moaned and screamed until she could no longer do either and her body lay limp as Michael brought her through multiple orgasms.
He could feel his seed coming forth, like boiling lava, and his body started to tense. His eyes watered as the woman milked him from her own spasms. They suddenly started approaching the inevitable edge fast. Both lovers moaned as their bodies reacted to the impending climax. They were allowing themselves to feed a primal need that could not be quenched by simple talking about it. They allowed their best to come forth and Michael moved until he could not hold it any more. He finally shot his seed deep into her as she moaned one last time and toppled over the edge of a blissful climax.
The End
The Interview
It was a new break for Florence. She was beyond happy to have learned that she had gotten an invitation to try out a new job. This was what she had been looking for, a break that would end the cycle of bad luck in her life. She had been wondering how hard life was supposed to get until she came out in the clear. It had been over three months now and she had sent hundreds of resumes to almost every corporation she could think of. Yet no one seemed to want to hire her despite her education. It was actually a sad situation for her.
She had been reduced to selling her furniture to survive, something that had almost broken her to pieces. She had worked too hard to furnish her house but now that she had no job, she had to sell her things or her house would be closed. Getting that letter was a relief because now she could take a breath and at least pay off some of her debts.
This was, of course, if she got the job. The hard part was starting now, convincing her would be employers that she was capable of doing any job at the office. With the current inflation going on, it was hard to impress anyone. Not that people did not see the value in papers, they just did not have the money to hire people out. Getting a job was the hardest part in life. Millions of people walked around with no jobs because companies could not afford to pay their employees.
Those that dared employ made sure that they put so many huddles ahead that it was virtually impossible to get a job there. The truth of the situation was that Florence was not even sure where she had sent the application to. It was one of the few that had come back. While she was hopeful, she was also careful not to get her hopes too high because then it would mean major disappointments and that would ruin her life as it was.
She made her due diligence for the rest of the day and made sure that where she was going to work was safe. Her desperation to get a job was not that huge such that she could work anywhere. Florence still saw some value in herself. If anything, she only invested in herself and loved it because then she could still walk into an office months after losing a job and still look presentable. Taking care of herself was the first rule she had assigned to herself when she started working. There was nothing bigger than herself and she knew she had to come first.
The interview was to happen in a week’s time which was good because it allowed Florence time to prepare. She could walk into the company, ask questions and do anything she wanted to learn more about the company. This was a trick she had learned from her father.
During her younger years, she and her father had been close. They did not talk anymore because her father was no more. However, his lessons still rung in her head every time she walked into an office. He had been an excellent man. He had loved her with everything he had and she knew that she was doing him proud by doing what he had taught her.
The first plan was to scout the workplace she was to find some friendly faces, engage them in conversation and find out what they were all about. This was a dangerous game because if they ever found out they would not give her a job. With the way things were, companies were not only losing their employees, but were also losing their data to other companies through corporate espionage.
If they suspected that she was a spy, they would not consider her for the job. As a matter of fact, they would not allow her to any of their buildings. The first friendly face to see was a man who smiled at her as she was about to walk into the office building.
It was just a smile, but Florence knew she had caught the man’s attention. He probably would not remember her after ten minutes but she was sure that if she met him again, he would recall her face. She walked around and watched the people working there. There was a lot of work. She was not against a lot of work.
I anything, all those months without working made her feel like she could handle any pile of work given to her. She knew she wanted to work and the prospect of working made her happy, it got her excited enough to want to know what the company was all about.
It was not until she was getting back to her house when she heard someone call after her. The person did not use her name but there was little doubt that he was calling out for her. Florence turned to see the man she had seen before looking at her.
“Hey, I uhmmm, I saw you at my workplace earlier on and followed you,” the man said.
“You followed me?” Florence asked.
“Well, it is not what you think, I promise. See, I am Jack, and I saw you and could immediately tell that you were interested in the company. We have had a number of spies from other companies coming into our company and stealing information so when you walked in, I alerted my people to keep an eye on you. It’s the only way I could determine whether you really were interested for malicious reasons or pure reasons,”
“And what did you find out?” Florence asked.
“I found out that you are neither a spy nor employed,” the man said.
Florence was starting to get angry. She was angry at the man for wanting to check her out. He had ruined her only plan of employment. Now they were looking at her like a suspect in something terrible. She was angry at herself because she could have been more careful. Her father had taught her better. Maybe she was just being unlucky, she thought as she turned to leave.
“I also found out that we had called you for an interview,” the man said. Florence stopped and turned to face him.
“Well, I guess I blew it then,” she said.
“No, not really. Only I know you were there. Why were you at the office?” he asked.
“You would not believe me if I told you,” Florence said.
Jack was not interested in the woman because she wanted a job at his office. He did not care about that, he cared about her, he had seen her and known that she was the woman for him. It was almost like a blow on his chest, one that had almost toppled hi m over. Just because Jack Was interested in the woman did not mean that he was the kind to instantly think of marriage. If he was to marry every girl he met then he would have hundreds of wives.
He was following up on a chase, or something close to that and he wanted to know the woman better. There was also a confidence in her that he had not seen in a long time.
“I wanted to learn what your company was about before I walked in for the interview. It is a little trick I was taught by someone important. I wanted to be well informed about the company for the interview. Gives you an edge during the interview,” she said. There was also something n else that she needed to dig out, something she had confirmed within the first half hour of getting to the office.
“You really want to work there, don’t you?” he asked.
“You make it sound like a bad thing.”
“It is not a bad thing. We need someone like you. But you seemed to me, after my little background check, like someone who is overqualified for the job” Jack said.
“Do you have a better job? I have sold most of the things in my house to survive. Soon I won have anything to sell and I will start sleeping in the streets,” Florence said.
“What happened on your previous job?” Jack asked.
“Is this an interview?”
“I could make it an interview if you want so answer my questions,” Jack said. The flare was unwarranted. but it was necessary. He was am
ong the people she would have to go through to get a job and he had the power to give her the job. However, her attitude left little to be desired and he needed to deal with that on the streets before she became a menace in the office.
“They downsized and I was among the ones who were kicked out. Then they went broke a few months later and now I don’t have a penny in my account.” she said.
“There are things that you will need to past the interview,” Jack said.
“I thought I passed the interview with you here,” Florence said smiling. She knew how to turn her charm whenever possible. Jack loved the way she smiled but he knew he was not going to give her a job on account of her smiling habits. Hiring someone new was a task that cost them money. It would be a shame for him to bring in someone only for her to underwhelm the management and put them through another hiring process. It would only make him look bad.
“I would not say that you passed, but you are almost there. I am going to recommend you for the position with full benefits. However, I need you to do some things for me,”
“And what would that be?”
“Learn how to drive. That is a must. You will be assigned a car to move around and we need you to learn how to drive.”
“I know how to drive.”
“No you don’t. You don’t have a license. You also have a tax problem which can be solved in a short while. Do you have anyone who can teach you how to drive before you get a license?” he asked. After losing her job, Florence had lost a lot of friends. It was not convenient for them to hand around someone who did not have a job. Some of those had cars themselves but Florence knew there was no way to make herself ask them. She was going to have to find a way to maneuver this.
“No, but I can find someone.”
“You can use mine. I can teach you. Hell, I will even pay for your licensing and everything as long as you promise me that you will get the job,” Jack said.
