Sofia looked at her man and shook her head. Not that she did not want to listen to him. God knew she wanted to forgive him because even now she believed that he was serious about her. As if he could be anything other than serious about her. This was a game of deception that she was not willing to take part in. The idea that he could be lying to her irked her enough for her to want to see him off so Sofia got to her feet and walked to the door. She opened it and looked at the man.
“I want you out of my house now,” she said, looking away.
“Sofia, come on. You don’t have to do this. Let us talk like adults here, I made a mistake and I am ready to make amends for it,” he said.
Sofia slammed the door shut, “Mistakes?” she asked. “You think what you did were mistakes? You lied to me, led me on to a path of destruction. You knew well enough that I was into you the moment we saw each other. You knew very well that I wanted something solid, but what did you want? Sex?”
“No, I… okay, that is what I was looking for initially. Lying to you was wrong, and I am not going to lie to you right now, Sofia. You know why?”
“Because you are madly in love with me, yeah, tell that to the birds you fool,” the woman said and walked back to her couch. She had not thrown him out, this was a good sign for Simon, he thought as he tried to find the right words to say.
Before, he had not really seen the magnitude of his mistakes but one look into her eyes and he saw what kind of mess he had created for the both of them. It would take a whole lot of time to ever even start earning her trust back. The worst part was that he knew Sofia enough to know that once she lost trust in someone, it was hard to get it back. He had actually looked on with amusement as she and some of her friends fought before they ended up on her enemies list. Now he was on the very edge of getting into the list and unless he fought with everything he had, there was no getting back.
“Sofia, we both love each other. That much has not changed. It does not matter that you are the one that loved me first and that all I wanted from you was sex. What matters is the fact that I can say with all certainty that I fell in love with you and I am looking forward to having a life with you,” Simon said. He sounded desperate but that did not stop him from pleading his case.
The woman looked at him and shook her head yet again. She could not believe him, she could not trust him. The man she had finally decided to build a relationship with was someone who did not value her, or rather simply saw her for sex. She was no sex object. It was, more than anything else, the most infuriating thought she had ever had. The man had taken her for granted and that was unacceptable. But above it all, however, the man was also trying to make amends.
Sofia tried to steer away from such thoughts. The last thing she wanted was to appear sympathetic to this loser. Yet his eyes seemed to be calling to her to think about the decision she was about to make.
“I hate you, I really do,” Sofia heard herself say. She was not happy with the situation and she was not happy that her heart was dong the thinking.
“I know you do, and you have every reason to hate me. Look, I am not going to stay here for long.”
“You have already stayed here for long, Simon. I told you to get out a long time ago,” Sofia shot back.
That was a little too hard on him and they both realized that they were about to take on a road that was not often traveled. They were about to take the road that would lead them toward destructions. The destruction of a solid relationship. The problem with the solid relationship was that its foundation was a lie. A craving for sex that had then turned to love.
That was where the problem lay actually. The initial intentions had been the problem. A year ago, Sofia had been a wild woman. She had slept with a number of men and had realized that all that was vanity. Chasing such kind of fun was only inviting problems in her life and it was creating dullness in her that she did not like. Life, in short was getting boring due to having too much fun. So she decided to settle and find someone serious. The first issue, of course, was sex. Most men had sex with her on the first date and were never to be heard of. It was actually funny how fast they disappeared.
Sofia no longer wanted that. She wanted something solid. She wanted someone who would look at her and see her, not just a body. The first few tries were a miss until she met Simon, a sweet man who showed her the world and told her everything she wanted to hear. The only problem was that Simon was the hit and run kind of guy. This was something Sofia saw on the very first day.
On realizing that he would not score until he showed a modicum of good behavior, Simon entered one of his best acting modes. He became the gentleman. He wined and dined the woman, he bought her expensive gifts. He did everything he could to make sure that she saw him as a good man. Slowly, the conception that he was a hit and run kind of guy vanished into thin air. There was no mention of it anywhere.
Even with such phenomenal changes, Sofia could not give herself up to the man. It was like running toward a prey only for it to speed up every time he got close. Simon was determined, a few words here and there and he decided to push on until he got her in bed. It took close to a year to finally get the woman in bed but by the time he did, Simon had fallen head over heels in love with her.
Life had been good for them. They had built a rather strong relationship. Simon had forgotten his conquests, enough to afford him a happy girlfriend who he hoped would make a great wife one day. This dream was now getting threatened by a number of stupid things that Simon had done in his not so sober moments that he wished he had not done. To start with, he had approached Sofia as a bet. He had lost a bet which had led him to approach the first girl he saw. He was supposed to lure her to him, sleep with her and move on. This had been under the urgings of his best friends who did not know that he would end up having her as a girlfriend.
It so happened that his friends had all travelled out of the country for work which meant that they were not apprised of the developments. That was his first crack on the strong relationship. The second one was a text trail to one of his friends that told of how he had conquered the woman. Simon had not even done it in bad faith, eh was simply bragging to one of his friends to make him happy. It was not something he had not done before. He was not sorry to be proud to have gotten the woman he had gone after for so long. It would, however, turn out to be another of his worst mistakes.
Sofia had noticed the first crack a week before everything came tumbling down. Unaware that he had not deleted the trail of messages, and in a stupid bid to appear trustworthy, Simon had allowed his girlfriend to go through his phone for a day. It was the worst mistake he had ever made because the woman uncovered things that Simon was not even aware of. At some point, Simon wondered whether it was really his phone. The woman was uncovering dirt at a rate that Simon had never seen before.
Before he could even stop her, she had her own interpretation of things; something Simon made worse by trying to make her see that she was wrong. He did not understand that she was not to be argued with at that moment. Simon had caught on a little late, but he had been able to salvage the situation before everything went to a point of no return. As a way of showing that he was sorry, Simon had decided to take her out for dinner.
Sofia was still raw from the things she had seen on the messages because they were about her. It was an insult to her and everything she thought she stood for. The man had violated her trust in ways that she had never imagined. That was until they stumbled a friend who, for lack of a brain, spent exactly one minute explaining to his girlfriend what Simon had done without realizing that the woman he was talking about was Sofia.
That had been the final blow. Sofia had walked away in a huff because to start with, she had thought that Simon had planned that meeting. Simon had been too dumbfounded to even think of saying anything. Just when he thought he had fixed everything, a fool had come and tore through every thread he had used to hold his relationship in place. It was a disaster that he had not anticipated and he was n
ot exactly in the right frame of mind to counter such an attack.
That was why he was in her house, his heart beating fast because he was running out of time and he needed to convince her. There was only so much time he could spend at her house trying to convince her that he loved her. Past that, he would only be singing an old song and irritating her. Getting her to believe that eh genuinely loved her was not a problem. As a matter of fact, Simon could almost tell that the woman loved him all the same. It was in the way she kept listening to him. Had Sofia not been interested in what he had to say, she would not have let him inside her house. Yet here she was, staring daggers at him and willing him to give her an explanation better than the one she was listening to.
“This is a matter of trust and I know you trust me. My initial intentions might not have been pure, but not once did I hurt you. I never even showed you any signs of malice throughout the time we have been together, baby,” Simon said.
“And that is supposed to make me forget that you lied to me? That I was a trophy for you at first?” Sofia asked.
Simon did not answer that. He knew that if he answered, it was going to make things worse. Simon had studied himself well enough to know that he was bound to say something really stupid under pressure. This was pressure like he had never experienced before. He rubbed his face and paced around the living room. The calmness in the woman was almost scary.
“All I can say is that I am sorry, I really AM,” Simon said.
“Is that all you can say, really?” Sofia asked.
“Yes, because if I say anything else, you are not going to forgive me. I need you to forgive me.”
“Why, why should I forgive you Simon?” Sofia asked. Him. She could tell that he was genuinely sorry. It was not like she had caught him cheating. He had simply lied which, while it was not a good thing, was a little more harmless than him cheating.
“Because you love me,” Simon said. He was now making headway, he could tell because she had put her glass away and was waiting for him to answer. There was also a sudden softness in her eyes that told him that she was going to forgive him after all.
Sofia wanted to hate the man. But there was no way she could hate a man she loved. There was no way she could hate a man who had come out so clean. It was surprising how much she had grown to love the man. Simon meant that world to her and despite the prior lies, the man had come through as the best boyfriend she had ever had.
“I don’t know,” Sofia started. Simon walked close to her and held her close. Something she had not wanted but now that his arms were around her, she had the same safe feeling she always had before.
“Yes you do. You know that you love me and you know that I love you as much as you do. I was wrong to hurt you, but that does not mean that I am going to hurt you anymore. I am ready to pay for my sins, I will do anything but leave you,” the man spoke. This was their moment, a moment that drew them closer together than ever before.
“But you lied to me,” Sofia said softly.
“I learned to love you; I learned to care for you. I came intending to lie to you but then you changed me,” Simon said in a soft voice.
The dangerous part was over and done with. The woman could trust him that much he could tell. She wrapped her arms around him and held him close. Simon took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He had almost lost his girlfriend because of some stupid things he did and said in the past. It was a lesson to hi to never mess things like that again.
“Promise me that you will never do that again,” Sofia said. She still had her doubts but they were going away fast. Sofia had not been the loving type to start with. She was all for the fun of it before she met the man. Then Simon had walked into her life at a time when she wanted some structure in it and before she knew it, before they both knew it, they were both so deep into each other’s lives it was hard to walk away.
That stable structure had been broken by the lies Simon had told before, and it was not a good thing. This was what Sofia like to think as a near miss event. One that had seen their relationship quiver so much that it could have crushed at any moment. Somehow they had managed to stay above the water and salvage the situation.
“I promise you, baby. I am never going to do that again. You know you mean the world to me,” Simon said.
“Good, now I want you to leave and come back later. Bring some hard liquor because I want us to celebrate,”
“What are we celebrating?” Simon asked.
“The boat that never sank.”
“I have a better idea,” Simon said.
“I am listening.”
“How about we go out tonight? Dinner sounds fine with me. I might even add a few more surprises along the night,” Simon said before he kissed his girlfriend.
It was a great idea for Sofia so she pushed her boyfriend out of the house and proceeded to get ready for a coming night.
Dinner came and went and the two walked back home a renewed couple. Simon was saying something about having an early morning at work when Sofia took his phone and called the office. Simon worked for a small company that was headed by one of her friends. She told the lady that Simon was not feeling well and would not be available for work the following day.
“What was that about?” Simon asked once the call was over.
“It was about you coming to my place and spending the night there,” Sofia said as she pulled the man toward her house. Simon laughed before he broke into a jog. The woman was eager and he loved it when she was that eager to spend the night with him.
She attacked him with a kiss the moment they walked into her door. Simon kissed her for a long time before breaking it and looking at her.
“I am so sorry, Sofia,” he started to say.
“Shut up and kiss me,” Sofia said pulling him inside the room and shutting the door behind him. How they kissed and undressed each other, no one could tell. But her body was already uncoiling, heating up and letting him know that she was his for the taking. This was the best thing that had ever happened to her. She had known she wanted Simon the moment she saw him. It was like hitting a switch and everything started moving toward the right direction.
And now they were here and he was affecting her. His hot breath on her was doing a lot of damage to her nerves. It was bringing her whole system to life. It was always going to be a good time with Simon, a man who knew where to touch. She allowed him access to her, giving him all the access he would want.
Simon busied himself with bringing Sofia pleasure until she moaned with abandonment. She wanted him as soon as possible. Any delays would only build to her frustrations. Simon took time bringing her pleasure, making her writhe with pleasure on the bed before he raised his head and smiled.
Sofia watched with awe as her lover displayed himself impressively before he joined her on the bed. He was now ready to take her to a world only h could take her to. And she looked down at her body and noticed his hardness. She was excited, way too excited. She could not help but ask for his it. Her whole body seemed to have been electrified by his oral performance. He had prepared her well for the love making that was to follow.
He slowly entered her, allowing her to adjust. Simon slowly pushed himself forward until he was buried to the hilt before he finally looked into her eyes. As if giving her a green light, she moaned “yes” and Simon started to move. Like a professional or something even better, he took her hard, bringing her to the throes of pleasure like no one had ever tried before. They were both submitting to an animalistic instinct that seemed to drive them from the moment they laid eyes on each other. Nothing else mattered at this particular time; they were both happy to be here.
There was a time Simon had never before seen himself doing this, but it was actually a good thing he had tried. It was a feeling he had missed for so long. The sensations he had to live with were just too good. He closed his eyes and concentrate on giving her pleasure, taking her needs and handling the like the man that he was. No one was going to stop him as long a
s Sofia was close by. And she flexed herself every now and then, milking him as he pistoned in and out of her.
He moved until he could not move again. Rolling off of her, he looked at the ceiling and realized that he was going to have to enjoy this woman as much as he could.
The End
Frenemies
Mondays were always hectic. This was so especially if it was the start of a new shift. It was for that reason that Candice hated Mondays. She might have gotten used to having her shift start afresh on Monday if all other factors had been kept at a constant. Everyone else seemed to cope well with work, well apart from her. The administrator had called her to his office last Friday. She wanted to know what was wrong because Candice was never really into work on Monday. It was so bad that people had actually started to notice it.
This, to Candice, was something of a surprise because she had never had such prejudices before. She had been an active girl, well until she joined this particular hospital and started working there as a nurse. Not that she was not ready for the job. Candice loved being a nurse and she enjoyed the job. Some people actually thought she was the best at it, and indeed she was the best at what she was doing. In a few years, Candice was bound to become a doctor because to her, nursing was never going to be a permanent thing.
She loved her work but hated the environment she was working in. It was not just the environment, but the people who controlled the environment. To that effect, she hated one particular guy who made her Monday’s hell. His name was Bob, a stupid name for a stupid person. At least that was according to Candice who felt like puking in her mouth every time his name was mentioned.
Bob had fallen on her case the moment she walked through the hospital door. He had not been happy that Candice came in smelling of perfume. It was against regulations for a nurse or a doctor to wear perfume or cologne because they were in danger of exposing any of the patients to a wide range of allergies.
