Tears blurred her vision and she pressed her body against his, loving the way she fit perfectly. “I love you, Jake.”

He didn’t wait and tilted her chin up and lowered his mouth to hers. The kiss was as gentle and soul consuming as every single one they’d ever shared and it set her heart racing. She loved him. She was in love with him and she didn’t have a doubt in her mind. Her arms wrapped around his neck and he lifted her carefully, and set her down gently as he pulled back.

  “What happened, Leena?”

“You did, you big dumb DeMarco.”

He laughed and she glared at him, but didn’t pull out of his embrace.

“You made a decision for the both of us and that wasn’t fair. I wasn’t going to accept that proposal.”

“So you were going to be with me?” He kissed her forehead and she lay it back down on his chest.

“No. Not right then. I just knew I couldn’t marry your brother.”

“So how do you know you’re in love with me all of a sudden?” His voice was edged with suspicion, but she couldn’t blame him.

“The thought of marrying Nick, or never feeling your arms around me ever, it was like all of a sudden there was a difference. I know that sounds stupid, but you’re a guy who decided he was in love after a few days, I think I’m allowed to be a little slower given how fast that was.” She felt the rise and the fall of his chest under her head. “You know, you’re doing this all wrong.”

  “Oh am I?”

“Yes. You are. I left the engagement party, broken up and went straight to the airport in Tasha’s car. I know you don’t know her, but Natasha Morningstar. I paid most of my savings to get on the six a.m. flight to Paris. I had three layovers and couldn’t remember what damn street the office was on and my phone doesn’t work here. I burst in, ignore you telling me you don’t want to see the American in the hall, tell you I love you and all you do is kiss me?”

He burst out laughing and she pulled off of his chest. His face was brilliant while he laughed, the stubble on his jaw twitched when his mouth did and his eyes crinkled with laughter.

Then, out of nowhere, he picked her up and set her on the desk, stepped between her legs and bent down and kissed her. It was still gentle, but it was faster, more demanding. She tugged him closer to her with her legs and let their tongues dance together.

“I love you, Leena Kensy. Thank you for picking me, but I have one last question.”

She laughed and leaned up to kiss him quickly. “What is that?”

“What about your Christmas wish? You told me on Christmas Eve you already got the DeMarco brother that was your Christmas wish.”

“I was wrong of course. It was you after all, Jake. You were my Christmas Wish.”
