“Shouldn’t be a problem. Our guys have been working with your engineers. I think they’ve figured out a way to make a portable weapon that will identify infected individuals and put them down so we can inject them with the serum.”
“How’s the bio research coming, Dr. Savage?”
“Only one rat survived the first round of testing. It’s still infected with the virus.”
“You’ll figure it out. We’re down to our last hour. We need to find a cure before the aliens can overrun us. How long until the rest of the rats are ready for testing? Couple hours?”
She nodded. “I’m starting treatments early, now that we know Jacob’s machine is working.”
David stood tall. “We’re close, colonel. The aliens will get their little victories for now, but we’re onto the slimy worms. Their days on this planet are numbered. And we just cut off their only escape.”
“Checkmate,” replied the colonel.
