After seeing to it that his family was resting comfortably and had everything they could possibly need, he settled in next to Natasha in the hospital bed. As their son squirmed restlessly in the crook of his arm, their daughter slept soundly in her mother’s lap.

A nurse stepped into the room and immediately began objecting to him being in the bed with his wife. The nurse stopped short when he narrowed his eyes and shook his head, silently daring her to say another word.

When he instructed her to bring his parents in from the waiting room, the nurse’s eyes widened as her mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. No doubt the Pakhan had given the nursing staff a run for their money while he had been relegated to the waiting room with everyone else. The thought made Nikita smile. Without a word, the nurse scurried down the hall to the waiting room.

Nikita leaned down and kissed the top of his wife’s head.

“Alright, little ones,” she said softly. “Time to meet the family.”

As decisive, unmistakable footsteps approached the door, Nikita finally understood his father’s solemn devotion to the legacy that came with being Born Bratva.

  The End.

Look for Canary Chaos (Born Bratva Book 8) coming soon.
