In 1963 former NFL president Joe F. Carr was inducted as one of the seventeen charter members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Starting in 1939 the NFL honored the memory of Joe F. Carr by naming its MVP award after him. The last Joe F. Carr NFL MVP award came in 1946 when the Associated Press discontinued naming an MVP. In this photo from 1963, Mary Carr (daughter of Joe F. Carr) holds a replica of the former MVP trophy, surrounded by the five grandsons of the former NFL president. On May 24, 1939, Joseph F. Carr (1879-1939) was buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. The headstone is made of pinkish granite with the Celtic cross in the middle. Courtesy of author.
