  twenty.

Kaity held Erik tight the entire ride back to the clubhouse. She was shaking with fear. She had come close to dying many times already in her life… because of Brad and either his potentially violent hands or the situations he pushed her into. Each time Brad forced her to take on another assignment she knew there was danger involved. There had been many times when she faced the end of a gun or a knife or watched illegal activities happen. But it began to seem normal to her. Until today. Seeing this bombing struck her deep inside. Someone had blatantly tried to kill her to piss Erik off. Whoever was doing this made two huge mistakes. They failed at killing Shay. And now they failed at killing Kaity. But because of their mistakes, Erik's scars haunt him everyday and Jack, the mechanic, was dead.

When they arrived at the clubhouse, it was chaos. There were motorcycles everywhere and a lot of activity going on.

Shay and Jace were outside, smoking. They threw their smokes to the ground and ran to Gaige. They were all talking. Nate held the door open for Erik and Kaity. Nate touched Kaity’s arm and asked, “Is she okay?”

“She’s fine,” Erik replied. “She wasn’t in the car. Or near it.”

“Fuck,” Nate said. He looked at Kaity. “Come inside. It’s safe here.”

Kaity knew it was safe in the clubhouse, but she wasn't sure how welcome she really was or how long she would be welcome there.

At the bar, it seemed the entire group of guys waited for a drink. Miller, Blaine, and Griffin all screamed for faster service. Erik stayed with Kaity, holding her wrist at first but eventually sliding down and taking her hand. When Kaity felt Erik’s fingers interlock with hers she felt a lot of emotions. She felt comforted. She felt safe. It made her think of when Erik held her hands over her head as he fucked her. It turned her on. Her mind spun. Her heart raced. The MC was moving fast now and Kaity knew something big was going to happen.

  “Meeting,” Miller boomed at Erik.

“Got it,” Erik said. “I need to make sure Kaity is safe first.”

Erik walked Kaity to the end of the hall and when they made the turn, he stopped, pulled, and then pushed Kaity against a wall. She hit with a thud and cringed.

  Erik stared daggers at her.

The seconds ticked by, Kaity wondering just what was going to happen. She never meant to say anything to Erik that would make him not trust her. The truth was that, yes, she had been a rat. She worked for a detective who had been working her illegally. At the end of it all, Kaity only had regret, pain, and the nightmares. The police force barely did anything to honor Brad when he was killed and Kaity was simply paid to go the hell away and stay away. Only Kaity knew the truth and she kept that close. If she was revealed as the one who took out Brad, she would never see light of day again.

When Erik moved at her, Kaity flinched. But then Erik’s hands held her face. His body pressed against hers.

“You think I would hit you?” he asked.

“No. I don’t know. You’re so angry, Erik.”

“That’s just me,” he said. “Get used to it.”

He kissed Kaity, stealing her breath and thoughts. His tongue was delicious and commanding. His hands reached down and hurried to open Kaity’s pants. When the kiss broke for a second, Kaity let out a much needed groan.

“What the hell are we doing?” she asked.

“I’m going to fuck you against this wall,” Erik said.

  “What if someone sees?”

  “Do you really care?”

Kaity shook her head and put her hand to Erik’s zipper on his jeans. “No. I don’t give a fuck anymore. I just want you, Erik. I want you to believe that.”

“Just stop talking and let me fuck you.”

Erik moved Kaity’s hand out of the way. He unzipped himself and Kaity looked down to watch. His hand momentarily was gone and then Erik revealed himself. Long, thick, hard. She bit her lip, remembering that she had this fantasy. To have Erik hold her against a wall and fuck her. And it was going to happen.

Erik kissed her neck and then put his lips to her ears. “Pants, panties. Drop them now.”

Kaity wiggled her pants and panties down to her ankles. She was able to spread her legs just enough, for now. She started to try and step out of her clothing when Erik grabbed her by the waist and slammed her against the wall again.

She cried out and then smiled.

It felt good to be like this. Surrounded by danger.

Erik pulled a condom from one of his pockets and readied himself. He put his lips back to Kaity’s mouth and both hands to her waist. He slid down and around to her ass, lifting her against his cock. Kaity moaned with Erik’s tongue in her mouth. He pressed gently for a second and then thrust hard.

He sank deep into her body. The pleasure was instant and Kaity kicked her left foot hard, taking her shoe off, but allowing her pants and panties to come off that leg, too. She wrapped her legs around Erik’s body, pants dangling from her right leg.

Erik thrust hard at her, and with each thrust, Kaity’s body hit the wall. Over and over. The thudding was like thunder and she couldn’t help but wonder who heard it. Erik’s hands were fierce as they held her ass. Kaity locked her ankles and thrust at Erik, wanting more of him. There was no more to give though and soon Kaity found herself on the brink of climax. Her hair danced all over her face, leaving her a mess of pleasure. She looked to her left and saw Blaine standing there in awe. He nodded and walked away. For some reason the sight of that turned Kaity on even more. She groaned and pulled at Erik with her feet.

He moved harder and faster. He had his lips to her neck and when he opened his mouth and hissed, his teeth grazed her neck. Kaity’s toes curled and she closed her eyes as Erik thrust one last time, grunting and releasing. Kaity lost her breath for a few seconds and it only returned just in time to have Erik’s mouth against hers. They kissed for another minute or so, Kaity’s legs open, her ankles still locked around his body, Erik still inside her. It was definitely one of the hottest moments of Kaity’s life.

When Erik pulled away he gently lowered Kaity back to her feet. He quickly zipped up his jeans and stared at her.

“You better get in the room,” he said. “I don’t fucking share.”

“Are you implying that I’m yours?” Kaity asked.

Erik took Kaity by the hand. “You’ve been mine from the second you got on the back of my ride, babe. Never forget that. Everything I do and everything I say is to protect you.”

With that said, Erik walked away.

Kaity stood half naked for a few seconds before finally grabbing her pants and panties and pulling them up just her right leg. She hobbled her way to Erik’s room. When she closed the door, she let out a long breath. She spotted the bathroom and decided to take a shower. Her body was on fire though so Kaity was prepared for a cold shower if she needed it to calm her body down.

However, something told Kaity she wouldn't be able to calm down. Because it wasn't just her body on fire now, it was her heart, too.

  twenty-one.

Erik went to the table with Griffin. Griffin went to his seat and Erik went to his. Blaine let out a quick whistle and gave Erik a thumbs up. Erik flipped him off and shook his head.

Fuck. He wondered if Kaity knew that Blaine had seen them.

Oh well. Erik couldn’t help himself in the hallway with Kaity. His emotions were a tangled mess of fuck and his heart the same. He had come so close to sending Kaity away, but there was no way Erik was going to let Kaity go out there and face danger. Especially when it was danger she had nothing to do with.

“Jack is dead,” Erik said. “Another car bomb.”

  “We heard,” Shay said. “Christ.”

“It was meant for Kaity,” Erik said. "This is getting deeper and more personal.”

“We might have a solution,” Gaige said.

  “How?” Griffin asked.

“Strokner called me,” Miller said. “Me directly.”

“Went over my head,” Gaige s
aid. “Which I don’t like at all.”

“What did he want?” Blaine asked.

“We’re not the only ones who like fights,” Miller said. He rubbed his chin. “There’s also a need for it with rich businessmen.”

“Are you kidding me?” Jace asked.

“Businessmen fighting?” Erik asked. “I don’t buy it. I don’t see it.”

Miller leaned forward. “They aren’t the ones fighting.”

  “Then who?” Griffin asked.

Miller nodded to Gaige. Gaige sighed and shook his head. “They hire women to do it. The women are almost like hookers I guess. I don’t know. They get these women together and set up fights. The men bet on the fights and on the women. Kind of like our women here."

“I don’t fight ‘em,” Blaine said. “I just fuck ‘em.”

Miller laughed as he pushed back from the table and stood. “The point is… we need to be there. Strokner said there’s a good possibility one of our guys will be there.”

  “Which one?” Shay asked.

“I don’t care,” Miller said. “Someone who hurt us will be there.”

“Wait a second,” Erik said. “We’re going to just show up and start killing businessmen?”

“No,” Gaige said. “We show up and find the man we need.”

“How do we get in?” Griffin asked. “I mean, I doubt they’re going to just let a bunch of bikers walk in.”

“Let me deal with Strokner,” Miller said. “He’ll get us in. We do need to be legit though.”

  “Meaning?” Blaine asked.

“We need a woman to fight,” Miller said. “Strokner already told me that’s the price to get in. We show up with a woman. We find our guy. Get our revenge. We move on.”

“It’s not just one person,” Shay said. “We know that.”

“But we’ll send a clear message,” Gaige said.

“Or start a bigger war,” Nate added.

“Sure, if we make this kill, it’s going to make this thing bigger," Miller said. "But it shows power. It shows we don’t take shit from anyone. We expose them once and it’s all ours. Got it?”

Everyone looked around at each other. This was a big vote right now. A vote to extend this war. A vote for bloodshed and death. Erik looked around the table and wondered if this was the war that would kill one of his brothers. There could be an empty chair at the end of it.

“We vote,” Gaige said. “Show of hands…”

“We show up to the fight,” Miller said. “We take care of our business.”

Miller’s hand went up. Gaige next. Then Blaine. Jace, Griffin, and Nate all put their hands up. When it came to Erik, he hesitated for a second while he let everything play back in his mind. The MC may not have chosen this war, but he'd be damned if he was going to let someone else win it. Erik put his hand up.

Not a single person objected to the idea.

“It’s settled,” Miller said. “Me and Gaige will make the plans with Strokner. And tomorrow night we are going to take our step forward with this mess.”

“Hey,” Blaine said. “For the kill… when the opportunity comes…”

Miller glanced around the table and stopped at Erik. Their eyes met and Erik slowly rose.

“I’ll do it,” Erik said. “If this is one of the guys that had something to do with that bomb…”

“I agree,” Nate said. “This is Erik’s.”

The rest of the table agreed. They all stood one by one, nodding.

With the main table standing, Back Down Devil was stronger than ever. They would not fold up and die in this fight.

“Mark my words,” Miller said, “there will be honor in this fight.”

Everyone cheered and Miller pointed to the door. The orders were pretty simple now. Prepare to fight and enjoy the day and night. Tomorrow could be the last day.

The room cleared out and Erik found himself standing at the table. Miller grabbed his shoulder.

  “What’s wrong?”

“Too much to think about,” Erik said. “My mind seems to be clearing.”

“Or is it just your cock?” Miller asked with a smile.

“Maybe both.” Erik looked at Miller. “She should have died today.”

“I’m sorry, brother. But that’s our life. That’s why it’s hard to let people in.”

  “Yeah, it is.”

“Hey, are you okay with this? The fight? The kill?”

“I’m ready,” Erik said. “The club is ready for this. We need a victory to move on.”

Erik left the room and skipped the bar. He stormed down the hallway to his room. On his bedroom floor he saw a pile of clothes. Then he heard the rushing water in the bathroom. When he peeked in, it was steamy, but the silhouette of Kaity’s body made his mind go blank.

“How good were you at your job?” Erik asked.

Kaity screamed and opened the shower door. “What the… you scared me.”

  “Answer the fucking question.”

  “My job?”

  “As a rat.”

  Kaity’s face tensed. “I wasn’t…”

“If the club finds out who you were… or are… what do you think they’re going to do?”

  Kaity swallowed. “I don’t know.”

“This isn’t some fucking honeymoon, babe. I wanted to fuck you, so I did. You have my heart and mind torn to pieces. Remember when I said I don’t care about a thing? That was a lie. I care about you, Kaity. But to think of you as a rat really pisses me off.”

“What do you want from me then, Erik? I can’t go back and change things. I’ll do anything you want to prove it. If that’s what you want. Name it. I’ll fucking stand on the bar and tell everyone out there. I’ll… I’ll kill someone. Is that want you want?”

Erik’s heart was pumping so fast. He walked to the shower and took Kaity’s right hand. It was wet and slippery. Erik looked at Kaity’s naked body and felt himself getting hard again. He made Kaity’s hand into a fist.

  “Punch me,” he said.

  “What?”

  “Punch me in the face.”

  “No.”

“I gave you a fucking order.”

Kaity threw her fist and smacked Erik in the nose. It stung for a second but didn’t hurt.

“Is that the best you can do?” Erik asked.

  “What are you talking about?”

Erik grabbed Kaity’s wrist. “You want to be a rat? You want to be undercover?”

  “No,” Kaity said. “I never…”

“This is your chance then. Prove it to the club, Kaity. I need you to fight someone for me, for us.”

  “Fight?”

Erik felt the regret already. He just swore to himself ten minutes ago he would keep Kaity safe. But he didn’t know what that meant. This woman had been a rat. This woman worked undercover for a detective. She couldn’t just step into the clubhouse and belong here. That’s not how it worked.

“Fight,” Erik said. “There’s a chance we can find one of the men…”

“I’ll do it,” Kaity said. “Of course I’ll do it. I’ll do anything to prove it to you, Erik. To the MC. Whatever you need.”

“Get out of the shower,” Erik said. “So we can talk.”

Kaity turned off the water and grabbed a towel. She wrapped it around herself and went with Erik to the bedroom and sat on the bed. Erik stood in front of her, his arms crossed.

“I want to know what you want out of all this,” Erik said.

“Trust,” Kaity said without hesitation. “The way you look at me… the way you make me feel…”

“You’re going to be fighting for real,” Erik said.

“If that’s what I need to do, then I’ll do it.”

Erik was really turned on. He was so torn about trusting her. He wanted to. He wanted to protect her. But she hadn’t earned it yet.

“There’s a fight that some businessmen have put together,” Erik said. “We need a woman to go into it. If we get in there, there’s a chance we c
an make a revenge kill.”

  “A kill?”

“Babe, this is our world. You want in, you'll learn to accept death."

Kaity nodded. “Of course. I don’t have anywhere to go, Erik. If I got in my car I would have to keep driving, and I will always have to look over my shoulder.”

Kaity’s lip quivered and she lowered her head.

  “You’ll do this for us?”

  “Yes.”

“This is serious, Kaity. I’m not going to fuck with you, okay? You could get hurt. You could lose this fight. Do you even know how to fight?”

Kaity looked at Erik. “I can fight. I can take care of myself. If this is going to help you, I’ll do anything. If you can get revenge and stop hating yourself for your scars…”

Erik grabbed Kaity by her arms. He stood her up and stared at her. “Don’t talk about my fucking scars.”

“I can’t help it,” Kaity said. “Your scars are beautiful.”

  Beautiful? What the fuck?

“I don’t want you to fuck this up and get killed.”

“I won’t,” Kaity said. “I’ll fight. I’ll do what I have to do. Like I always do, Erik. I don’t need you as much as I want you. And I want you to look in the mirror and see what I see when I look at you.”

“My face will always be the same,” Erik said. “Revenge or not. I’ll always have my scars. I’ll always have the memories.”

“Then share it all with me,” Kaity said. “Because I have scars too. I know my scars are on the inside, but my nightmares follow me every night. And if you need to see me fight another woman to help you do all this, then yes, I will do it. I’ll fight the world for you, Erik. If it matters to you, it matters to me.”

Erik shook his head. He put a hand to Kaity’s face and traced her cheek.

  Fuck, she was so beautiful.

"I want you to fight as much as I don’t," Erik said.

“I’m doing this,” Kaity said. “If that’s what you talked about at your meeting. If that’s what your President wants, what your MC needs, then I’m going to do it. I don’t want to hide, Erik. I don’t want to be the woman who was once a rat. That’s not who I am. I made bad choices in my life. I tried to help people on the cases I worked. Even if Brad fucked them all over. So let this be my punishment to myself. My proof to you. Maybe even my proof to myself.”
