Chance sat up, grasped her waist, and then pulled her closer. Of course, he’d taken the opportunity to suck her nipple into his mouth, since his mouth had been so close to it. He let her go with a wet plop and then stretched out. His cock was once more right there, being covered by her pussy lips.

“Ride me, baby. Take us back to paradise.”

It was such a cheesy thing to say that Bailey grinned. And hot enough, under the circumstances, to make her pussy wet. She reached down, fisted his cock, and raised herself up just enough.

“You feel so good, Chance.” He’d helped her slide down onto him, his hands bracketing her, and as she rode him, he helped.

Bailey threw her head back, closed her eyes, and simply absorbed the miraculous sensation of Chance’s hot cock in her pussy, of being fucked by this man. Who knew a moment like this could be so much more than just physical? The emotion, the almost spiritual aspect of this was so huge.

How did I never know? Look what I’ve been missing all this time!

“Beautiful.” Logan whispered that word and followed it with a lick on her ear. “Lean over him, sweetheart. Let him hold you so I can play with that sexy ass of yours.”

Bailey took in the shiver his command induced. Her pussy felt as if it spasmed around Chance’s cock. She leaned forward, leaned over and down. Chance wrapped his arms around her, and yes, that action of hers had indeed put her ass in the air.

The cool slide of lube made her gasp, and the slick feel of it being spread over her anus just added more to the arousal that was already rising, already promising to grow into a blazing inferno.

Chance anchored his fingers in her hair, moving her head, and then he kissed her. Wet, wild, hungry, this kiss started slow and deep and quickly exploded into passion. Logan’s hand on her lower back, his presence so very close so that she felt his body heat on her bottom and thighs added to the sense of being cocooned. They held her, enveloped her, and she was tuned in to every part of them, eager for more.

Her arousal began that fast, meteoric rise, and as she crested, Logan pushed, thrusting a single finger into her anus.

Bailey wrenched her lips from Chance’s and screamed. Her climax consumed her, wave after wave of pleasure flooding her senses. Inside her pussy, Chance’s cock pulsed his orgasm, and that just made her own climax more. Her nipples, her clit, and her anus all seemed to tighten, to try and hang on to the ecstasy, to stay forever in this realm somewhere between earth and sky, a realm where her erogenous zones were connected one to the others, and a realm where was connected to her men.

She collapsed on Chance, her breath heaving as she tried to process that so much sheer joy could be hers. Chance lifted her, just enough that his now softened cock slid out.

“Look at me, baby.” Chance’s order found her blinking her eyes. Not understanding, she met his gaze. “I need you to let me watch your face as Logan takes you.”

“Don’t let me hurt you too much,” Logan said. Then he placed the tip of his cock against her ass and pressed hard.

The burning of her anus stretching wrapped around the fading satiation, and Bailey wondered if the second eased the first. Then something sparked inside her, a tiny sputter of arousal, and her pelvic floor muscles clenched in response.

“Relax, Bailey.” Logan spread her ass cheeks and leaned in even more, and she felt her anus begin to open. Burn morphed to pain, a pain not unexpected, yet unlike any she’d ever experienced. Determined to do this, to have this, Bailey breathed deeply and focused on doing what Logan asked. She relaxed her hips, legs, bottom…and he slid into her.

“Oh…I don’t…” She couldn’t move, didn’t know what to do, but felt the arousal spiraling as if from out of nowhere.

“Damn. You’re so hot, so tight. I…” Logan left off speaking and slowly withdrew, nearly all the way out of her. Then he pushed in again, and the friction startled her, and it…freed her.

Horniness grabbed her, a tight constrictor-like hold, and all she wanted, all she needed was right there before her.

“Fuck me. Fuck me, Logan, please. I need to come.”

“She just gave me a gift of her nectar all over me, brother. She’s definitely into this.”

Bailey actually growled. She didn’t want them talking. She wanted to get fucked, hard and fast and deep.

“Hang on, Bailey.” Logan’s hands shook as he held her ass, and his thrusts lacked grace. He’s in the same place I am. And then he granted her wish, hot and fast and deep, and Bailey came. Screaming, creaming, every muscle in her body taut as steel, she came and came until she wondered if she would survive this rapture.

  Chapter Fourteen

Logan found himself in a position he’d never been in before—that of attempting to apply his mind to his work, and failing.

Numbers had always drawn Logan Benedict, just as they’d attracted his brother, Chance. But between them, Logan had the greater talent when it came to deep focus and the ability to see patterns inside the documents he studied. He could zero in and see the meaning beneath the numbers. People were very quick to assert that, yes, mathematics was in fact a language. But very few people were truly fluent in that language.

  Logan was completely bilingual.

He’d had a friend in college who was an artist, a woman who could create the most awesome paintings with seemingly little effort. Oils or pastels or charcoal, it didn’t matter. He asked her once what that was like. Did she sit and think and plan and then translate that concept to paper? Or was it more a matter of simply doing and not understanding why everyone else couldn’t do the same?

She’d affirmed that, for her, it was the latter. Logan had nodded, and inside, he’d relaxed. That was what it was like for him and numbers. And just as his friend couldn’t explain how she was able to do what she did, Logan couldn’t explain his abilities, either. But he knew what was currently keeping him from finding the “otherworld” he happily occupied when he worked.

Thoughts of Bailey enveloped him, preventing him from sinking as deeply into the numbers as usual, but he really wasn’t going to complain about that. Not when the taste of her lips lingered on his and the scent of her flesh still coated his skin.

Logan had never even admitted it to himself, but since that one relationship back in college, he’d longed for where he was right now. But he’d never really believed he and his brother would be in this position. He’d assumed, as he knew Chance had assumed, that the possibility of sharing a woman—no, of sharing a wife, was forever out of their reach.

Who could have guessed that a long overdue visit to distant relatives would open the door to the one thing deep in their hearts that they wanted more than anything else in the world?

He didn’t need any more time to know he was deeply and forever in love with Bailey James. He knew Chance felt the same way about their woman. The only thing left for them to do was to get Bailey to realize they were destined to be her husbands, just as she was destined to be their wife.

Bailey was a bit skittish. He knew she felt she was in a precarious position, and who could blame her? She’d recently had her life turned completely upside down with the murder of her boss. Then she’d been threatened and felt she’d had no choice but to run. Running meant abandoning her lifelong home, leaving everything familiar behind. Now, Bailey believed she’d finally found her place, and that place was Lusty, Texas. He also knew she was leery of taking on more changes because she believed she’d already taken on all she could handle. The challenge before Logan and his brother was simple at the heart of it. All they had to do was get her to fall in love with them.

“Piece of cake.” Logan shook his head. His voice echoed in the large room they’d converted into an office. While the living room, kitchen, and upstairs bedrooms had been furnished before they moved in, this lower room had been completely empty. Two desks, two chairs, their laptops and printers didn’t take up much space nor did that small amount of insubstantial furniture dampen the echoes of emptiness.

Logan heard the kitchen door open and close. He checked the time at the corner of his computer screen. It barely took fifteen minutes to drive Bailey to work and return. He and Chance were taking turns doing that, giving them each a little one-on-one time with her. At the moment, Bailey’s car was tucked away, out of sight, in their garage. They’d convinced her that it made sense to let her car sit there since she’d agreed never to go anywhere alone.

He and Chance both knew she hadn’t thought it through, but hiding her car was, in fact, a safety precaution. The “unsub” their boss and the NYPD was looking for could easily discover the make, model, and plate number of her vehicle by hacking into any number of computer records.

Fortunately, Bailey hadn’t yet gotten around to changing her address with the DMV in New York. Under the circumstances, that was a very good thing. There was no record anywhere that she actually lived in Lusty now.

The last thing Bailey had used her sole credit card for was the motel outside of Waco. Now, thanks to Porter Wells, she had a brand-new card for use until this situation was resolved. There was no way around getting her to accept that new card. They’d had to tell her the “what if” they were all trying to avoid. It was a sad truth that, just as the internet made so many things in life easier, it also opened doors to crimes no one had ever really imagined.

Chance came into the room, two cups of coffee in hand.

“Our woman is happily at work, and Adam has a roster of people who’ll be taking turns keeping an eye on her until we show up this evening.” Chance smiled. “I think she wanted to protest, but Adam pointed out that this was good training for his deputies and he was grateful for the opportunity.”

Logan grinned. He and his brother had recently discovered that Adam had a whole drawer full of badges that he used when the need arose for more than the two permanent deputies he already had. Logan and Chance each had been “deputized,” as had just about every able-bodied man and several of the women, too. “Cousin Adam has our woman’s number. Tell her that she’s actually performing a service, and she’s in.” He accepted one of the cups and sat back in his office chair. “Quest will be here soon. Apparently, he’s hired a couple of local private dicks to install a new security system, both outside and inside. We met them a couple of weeks ago—Mel Richardson and Connor Talbot.”

“Inside?” Chance stared at him until he felt like he wanted to squirm. “Just what kind of security are we going to have inside?”

“Relax, big brother. There will be motion-activated cameras at the lower floor points of entry, and all of the windows will also be wired. He suggested this kind of an extensive setup, and I agreed to it. Chance, we want to try and anticipate any possible risk. They don’t have a picture of this guy yet, but the fact that he’s murdered at least two people, that we know of, means he’s a real threat, one to be taken very seriously.”

“Are we absolutely positive we don’t want to tell Bailey about all these extra security precautions?”

Logan exhaled. “I know what you’re thinking. Maybe keeping her, if not in the dark at least in the shade, might be a bit of a risk. If she finds out, she might be a little ticked with us. But if not telling her every detail can spare her being terrified, if she can believe she’s safe, have some peace of mind, that’s a good thing, isn’t it?”

“I don’t know. I really don’t. I think there’s something to be said for being a bit scared, for keeping oneself on alert. Maybe that’s the edge she’s going to need before all this is said and done.”

“If she was all alone in this situation, you’d be right. But she has us. We’re her guardians, her protectors. She can relax and be at peace while at home, because we’re going to make damn sure she’s covered.”

Chance sighed. “I really hope you’re right, on all counts. Because some of the consequences of your being wrong are just too horrible a possibility to even think about.”

For one moment, Logan nearly changed his mind. But then the uneasy feeling evaporated. Bailey had the two of them, as well as several very capable people, watching over her. This was a small town, with limited access, and Logan was certain they had everything covered. He was as certain as he could be that nothing could possibly go wrong.

  * * * *

Everett Forrest had been in Texas for only three days. The one thing he knew for certain was that Texas was just too bloody hot for his liking. As much as he’d felt at home amid the noise and the attitude of New York City, Texas made him long for his true home, England.

He found the motel where the James woman had stayed in Arlington, a suburb of the larger city of Dallas. That had apparently been her first stop, and so it had been his, too.

A few weeks had passed since she’d been a guest, and he thought no one much would remember her. She wasn’t exactly a looker. So he was pleasantly surprised the middle-aged chap behind the check-in desk did remember “the little lady from up north.” The motel clerk said he was sure she was a woman on her own—and not only because he hadn’t seen another person with her. He claimed he’d asked her and she’d offered that she was traveling solo.

Everett was running with the story that his younger brother had run off with this chit he’d met in the Big Apple, and the family expected Ev to haul his baby brother’s arse home. It seemed a plausible enough cover to his way of thinking. If he was right in the conclusion he’d drawn—and he’d done a lot of thinking about the situation since killing that twerp Gary Sharp—the broad had likely double-crossed Townsend in favor of some other bloke. Why else come all the way to Texas if not to meet with another man? To his way of thinking that’s what any broad would do.

He’d only decided to hack into her credit card records—he’d opened her mail when he’d been at her house, and so he had that information—and then follow her trail in order to identify the man she’d hooked up with. He’d found very little on Bailey James in his broader internet searches. He bet that once he identified her partner, he’d have better luck all the way around. Ev had gone over everything he had on Townsend and had to admit if that man had arranged for his skirt to partner with someone else—if, say, he used James as a go-between to another organization or player—then old Dirk had proven to be a hell of a lot smarter than he’d looked.

That would make him too smart, if truth be told. No, Ev had known the man for a couple of years and hadn’t seen any sign of that kind of intelligence in him. The connection was likely in the James woman’s own background, the man she was meeting with someone of her choosing. His inability to find much on her could mean someone had scrubbed her past. No way in hell she could have lived as innocent and solitary a life as it appeared.

Ev sat back from his computer and looked at the data he’d uncovered. This hotel in Austin was a bit nicer than the place he’d stayed in the last two cities. He wasn’t one to live on the cheap if he didn’t have to, and at this time, he didn’t have to.

Bailey James had lived cheap, at least as far as he could see, and that was curious. He’d had no better luck here than he’d had in Dallas or Houston. Perhaps it was time to take another tack.

The last place the woman had used her credit card was just outside Waco. There’d been no notices put into the New York DMV as to a change of address, so the chit was still “on vacation” as far as anyone back in New York knew. She’d checked out of that motel in Waco a few weeks ago. If she hadn’t used her card after Waco, then, clearly, Waco was where she’d hooked up with her partner. She was likely having that poor bloke pick up the tab for every bloody little thing.

Ev knew what he had to do. Waco was where her pattern changed, so Waco was where he’d find his answers.

Ev used the GPS on his phone to set a course. Then he threw what few belongings he had into his duffel and checked out of the hotel. It might be worthwhile to grab a few togs that would do better in the heat. He’d chosen one of his alternate IDs since he’d arrived in Texas, just as he’d used a separate one when he’d flown into JFK. When he left Texa
s, he’d switch back to his original, the one he’d used in New York. He’d destroy both of those IDs once he’d accomplished his mission.

For one moment, it crossed Ev’s mind that he could probably stay here in the United States indefinitely—he’d brought enough of his resources with him and could access the rest online. There had to be some people locally who could provide him similar services as the ones he used back home. It was all just a matter of learning the territory.

If Ev couldn’t locate the James woman and get his hands on that merchandise, he would bloody well have to hide. Phillip LeClerc had a long reach. But maybe he couldn’t reach out as far as the middle of fucking nowhere, Texas.

Everett Forrest considered himself a smart man. Certainly, smart enough to leave all his options open.

  Chapter Fifteen

Bailey volunteered to work a longer shift because one of the other wait staff—a twenty-something college student named Nigel—was on his way back to Austin for a family emergency. She didn’t mind the extra hours and not just because it made her paycheck fatter. The truth was she simply loved her job. She loved the people she worked with and the regulars she served.

Bailey spent her first couple of hours entering receipts into the bookkeeping program, the same program she’d used in her last job. She chuckled as she recalled that twice now she’d tried to enter ledger account numbers that had actually belonged to Townsend’s Treasures.

In time, she knew that kind of thing wouldn’t happen very often. At the moment, however, her previous job was still pretty fresh in her memory. Not much time had passed between when she’d been there and being here. Not much time, no, but miles and miles of difference, and not only geographically speaking.

There, she’d practically been an automaton. When she thought about it, when she pictured what her life had actually been like just a month or so ago, she couldn’t explain how she’d let that happen. Here, she had a real life. And not just a life but a life filled with hope and joy and love.
