"You’re coming?" Garret raised his brows. "Won’t that show approval?"
"It will show that I intend to see you two wed and settled down to prevent anymore upheavals." Meekta left the room without another word.
"Well." Garret looked at her. "We’re honored--I think."
"I thought he hated me."
"I always thought he was incapable of feeling anything." He hugged her close, a smile playing around his mouth. "Speaking of feelings..."
"I wasn’t aware of mentioning any."
"I’ll just have to demonstrate mine to you."
"Wait." She placed a finger on his lips. "I need to tell you something that is long overdue."
He sobered at her serious expression. "Aye?"
"I apologize for my lack of faith in you. You risked so much for me." Glowing with love, her gaze locked with his. "You are my whole life, Garret, and here, between us alone, I pledge myself to you. Where you go, I go."
The big, calloused palm cupped the smooth cheek, his thumb running gently across the high cheekbone. "I’ll never leave you, Dana. I love you."
"Never more so than I love you."
Gathering her close, he kissed her, lips warm and coaxing, skillfully and lovingly taking possession of her mouth. When he finally lifted his head, both were breathing quicker.
"I think you’re right." Dana ran one hand down the hard, smooth muscles of his chest.
"I’m always right." He watched her walk over to the door. "About what?"
The lock clicked into place and her smoldering eyes met his. "Checking the structural soundness of the bed."
Heat singed his veins. "Come here, lass."
"Are you ordering me?" Provocatively she moistened her lips.
"Right now I’d beg you on my knees."
Slowly she started towards him, her hips swaying enticingly, the elegant folds of lace skimming long legs and revealing intriguing glimpses of flesh. By the time she halted before him, the blood was pooling heavily in his groin.
"I’m going to make you feel as though you’ve died and gone to heaven, trader."
"You’re a wanton wench," he said huskily.
"I’m worse when around you." She slid off his vest. "I can be such a bad wench."
A hot bolt jolted through him when she pressed a light kiss on the wildly leaping pulse in his throat before trailing her lips down his chest to a small male nipple. The tip of her tongue flicked across it and his breath sucked in harshly.
Catching her wrists, he lifted her arms above her head. "Stay still."
The large hands slid down her arms and sides, skimming over rounded hips and long, graceful legs. Kneeling, he carefully caught the hem of the delicate gown and raised it slowly, ensuring his fingers slid across her bare skin on the way up her body.
By the time he drew the gown up and over her head, she felt as though he’d left a blazing trail on her flesh. Without taking his gaze from hers, he leaned to one side and draped the gown over the back of the armchair. At the burning desire in the grey eyes above her, her breath quickened and a hot flame flared to life inside her.
Slowly he started to back her across the room. "If I’m going to feel as though I’ve died and gone to heaven, guess what, lass?"
"What?" she asked breathlessly, the backs of her knees nudging the big bed.
His smile was utterly wicked. "You’re coming with me."
