She nodded. She knew he wasn’t after the estate. Just like he knew she wasn’t after his money, either.

Unlike her uncle, Kel had never lied to her, never had any ulterior motives.

What she saw was what she got.

And she loved every bit about him. The light, the dark, the shadows.

  Everything.

“Can we invite Gilo?” she asked.

  He snorted. “Why?”

She shrugged. “He didn’t get to crash our collaring. I feel kind of bad about that.”

  Kel laughed. “You’re serious.”

“Yeah. I mean, I appreciate his consideration at our collaring. But…” She shrugged. “Kind of puts us up there in a pretty decent group of people, you know? Good luck kind of thing.”

He stared down at her. “Really?”

“Yeah.” The truth was she’d quickly come to like Gilo, especially the more she’d learned about him. Most people hadn’t seen the saner side of the SAM, his true nature. All they knew about him was the jokester from the club.

“Okay. Yeah, we can have him there. I’m guessing that means you want to have the wedding at the club?”

“Yeah.” She snuggled more tightly against him. “Yeah, I do. After all, they’re my adopted family. It’s where you and I met. And it’s where I feel most at home.”

He nuzzled the top of her head. “Then that’s what we’ll do.”

She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. “Thank you. What about your mom?”

“I’ll have a talk with her. Either she’ll want to be there, or she won’t. Her choice, but it’s our life.”

“Okay.” It felt so good to be able to let go like that, to let him make the hard decisions and know he had no problem doing it. Taking charge.

Even better, that she trusted him enough to let him make them.

“Tomorrow,” he said. “I want to head to the paint store.”

  Her eyes popped open. “Why?”

He motioned around them, at the stark, white walls of the house. “Isn’t it time we make this your home? Take over the master bedroom? I know you haven’t wanted to think about that, and I didn’t want to push you. But I think it’s time you either claim the house, or think about selling it and we buy something you feel comfortable in. Something you can make into your home.”

She was just so happy to have her uncle out of her life, to discover she had a lot more money in the bank than she thought, and to—duh—have Kel a permanent part of her life, that redecorating hadn’t topped the list of her priorities.

“I think you mean our home,” she softly said.

He kissed her. “You’re right, goddess. Our home.”
