“Are you ready?” Tim asked as we stood in front of a solid wooden door. “Welcome home Ally.”
“You and Kenzie are my home.” Two years ago, I never would have expected the twists and turns my life had taken. After all of the ups and downs, I was finally on the right track. Tim slipped the key into the lock and opened the door to our future.
Epilogue
Two pink lines stared back at me from the small, white, plastic stick. My hands trembled, and my knees gave out, dropping me to the warm tile floor. I scanned the bathroom, finding comfort in the warm tones we had chosen.
“Tim?” I called out, staring back at the test.
“Ya?” He hollered from our adjoining bedroom. Tim walked into the bathroom. “Are you sick again?” He dropped to his knees. I suppose I was a little close to the toilet. His eyes focused on my hands. “Is that what I think it is?”
“Yep.” I turned my gaze from the stick to him. Tim closed the space between us and removed the test from my hands.
“Does this mean what I think it means?” He was excited and alert, staring back at the pink lines. “Are we pregnant?”
“I believe so.” I smiled. This time I wasn’t panicked or fearful. I wasn’t running this time.
“Finally!” Tim placed his hands over mine. “I can’t believe it took this long.” What? Took this long? We had only been in our house for six months.
“This long?”
“I was aiming for the first few weeks.” He smiled, adoringly.
“You’re okay with this?” I trusted our relationship. So much had changed since that night in the hotel bathroom.
“I will always be okay with us.”
