“Need some help?” he asked.
“Yes. You have perfect timing. Open that bottle and place it on the platter with the four wine glasses.” She headed to the door. “And follow me.”
Shandra carried a platter of finger foods they could eat with the wine while the roast rested. She stopped at the end of the hall and watched her mother pick up the photo of Shandra standing beside her father. It was one of the few photos of her father and her she’d found while doing all the research. She’d asked for a copy and had it framed.
Ryan nudged her from behind.
She stepped out into the great room. “Hello, Mother.”
“Where did you get this photo?” her mother asked.
“I found it.” She wasn’t going to add while finding evidence to put your husband in jail. Her mother had forgiven her. She had been genuinely upset to learn the man she loved had killed the father of her child.
Shandra sat on the couch with Ryan on one side and her mother on the other. Lil sat in the nearest chair.
Ryan handed out the wine glasses and raised his in a toast. “To discovering the truth and a wonderful Christmas.”
