DOCTOR'S ORDERS

by Bella Grant

When Amelia stepped out of the bathroom in the dress, Frankie nodded his approval. She looked herself over in the long mirror hanging on her closet door and was surprised at how well the dress accentuated just the right parts. If this wasn’t going to make Theodore swoon, she didn’t know what would.

  CHAPTER 16

Theodore knocked on Amelia’s door at 7 p.m. sharp. When she opened it, he handed her a bouquet of pink roses. “For you,” he said, grinning as he looked her over. As he admired the way her dress hugged her curves, a warm sensation spread through his body and he murmured, “Jesus, you look incredible.”

Amelia’s hair was down in soft, loose curls, and she wore a pair of leather ankle boots with the dress that perfectly flattered her long, toned legs. She pulled a sweater on as the cold blast of air rushed in the door. Theodore couldn’t take his eyes off her.

“They’re gorgeous,” she replied, flushing with happiness at the gesture. “Let me put them in a vase.” As she rummaged around in the kitchen, Theodore watched her and felt a wave of excitement rush over him in anticipation of their evening.

“You never mentioned where we’re going?” she asked, filling the vase in the sink. “I hope I’m dressed okay for the occasion.”

“It’s a surprise,” Theodore responded. “I think you’ll like it. And you look absolutely perfect.” He had made reservations at a French bistro, the kind with private booths and dim lighting. It served two purposes. The restaurant was both romantic and inconspicuous, and most importantly, it was very unlikely they would run into anyone they knew there.

“Well, I can’t wait,” she replied with a smile. “Thank you for doing this.” Adjusting the final flower, she said, “I’m ready when you are.”

Theodore took her hand as they left the apartment. He opened her car door for her and kissed her once before closing it. He was going to go all out, he told himself, because if she was worth running the risk of getting caught with, she was worth wooing in the process. And she was the first girl he’d wanted to do this for in a long, long time.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Amelia was beaming, and Theodore’s heart fluttered happily at her pleasure. They were seated in a private booth and the waiter drew the curtain while they ate. “It feels like camping,” Amelia laughed, “Except the food is exceptional.”

“I’m glad you like it,” Theodore said, kissing the back of her hand. “It makes me happy to make you happy.”

“I’m very happy,” she purred. “Thank you for this.”

They shared a dessert and coffees before the waiter pulled back the curtain. Theodore helped Amelia on with her coat and guided her out with his hand on the small of her back. For a moment, he had the strange sensation that he was being watched, but when he looked around he didn’t see anyone he recognized. He shook off the feeling as general anxiety about being caught and exited the restaurant onto the street with Amelia.

As Theodore took Amelia’s hand walking to the car, she stopped and turned to him. “I’m falling in love with you,” she said abruptly, flushing pink beneath the street lamp.

Theodore froze. He hadn’t expected her to blurt it out like this, and despite his inkling that she harbored deep feelings for him, especially after talking in her sleep the first night they’d slept together, he was surprised by her bluntness. It caught him off guard, but it didn’t displease him.

“I’m falling in love with you, too,” he replied, reaching out to stroke her hair.

“But I want more,” she cautioned. “I want this. I mean… not this, exactly. I don’t need you taking me out all the time. I just want to live in the world with you, you know? I want us to be two real people, together—not hiding, not pretending. Can we be that?” she asked, shifting nervously from foot to foot in the cold.

“I think so,” Theodore replied slowly. “I… I want that, too.” He leaned down and kissed her deeply where they stood on the sidewalk, a short distance from his car.

“Let’s go back to my place,” she whispered, biting his earlobe softly.

Theodore’s member hardened, and taking her hand, he escorted her quickly to his car. On the drive back, he had to work hard not to run off the road as Amelia’s hand worked against the bulge in his pants, caressing his hardness until he was jumpy and having trouble driving. He moaned, and she giggled. “Fuck, you’re going to make me crash,” he warned her, but she paid him no mind.

Amelia led him up the steps to her apartment. Once through the door, he slipped off her coat, and his own, running his cool hands against her warm skin.

“I want you,” he said, holding her face in his hands. “I want all of you. All of this. The whole thing.”

Amelia held his gaze as she unzipped his pants. They had barely made it to the living room before she pushed him down onto the sofa, dropping to her knees before him. She reached in his pants and pulled out his manhood, fully erect, licking it from base to tip in one smooth motion.

Theodore leaned his head back into the sofa pillows and moaned loudly. Amelia worked her tongue along the tip, licking the shaft, taking the full length of him in her mouth. Theodore wove his hands through her hair and held the silky strands as she moved against him, coaxing an orgasm to the surface.

When he was afraid he’d come, he pulled away from her gently and leaned forward. Unzipping her dress, he let it fall to the floor in front of him. Amelia stood in her lingerie, her large, perfect breasts cupped by the black, lace demi-bra that cut against the white flesh in a tantalizing contrast. He pulled at the thin strap of her thong, sliding his fingers into her.

Amelia’s legs wobbled as Theodore’s fingers entered her. She bit her lip and placed her hand on his shoulder as she straddled his lap, letting his fingers coax all the shivers from her submissive body. When he pulled them away, she sighed with disappointment, noticing the glistening moisture that covered them.

Theodore pulled her closer to him, but Amelia resisted. “Wait a second,” she whispered, and ran to the bedroom. Returning to Theodore, she handed it to him with a smile. “I have a present for you,” she grinned, holding out the condom. “I got these for us.”

“It’s just what I’ve always wanted,” he laughed, slipping it on and pulled her to him again.

Amelia’s knees straddled his lap. Theodore positioned himself against her and sucked in a little breath of air as Amelia slowly lowered her tight center onto his throbbing manhood. He felt her slide slowly down every inch of him, her muscles contracting and holding him tight. He gripped her waist with one hand and brushed his fingers gently over her clit with the other.

He turned his face to hers and kissed her hungrily. Holding her delicate frame in his strong hands, Theodore helped her move against him like a piston on his lap. She bit his lip, and he moaned as he reached up to cup her breast, feeling her nipples harden beneath the thin, black lace. Her thong was bunched to the side, soaking wet, and he felt the fabric glide against him every time she rose and fell on his cock.

Theodore wrapped Amelia’s legs around his waist and picked her up. He pushed her against the wall, using the pressure against her back to leverage her weight on his hips. He held her ass as he slid into her, harder and faster, driving his manhood deep. He watched her face twitch with pleasure and saw the indent left in her bottom lip as her white teeth cut into it, muffling the whimper that came from within.

As Theodore moved inside her, Amelia let out a low moan. “Baby, I’m going to come,” she whispered, her hand working against her center in smooth, fluid motions as he moved inside her.

“Do it,” he said. “But know you’re not going to be off the hook if you do. I’m going to fuck you senseless all night long.”

“Oh, fuck!” Amelia cried, bucking her hips against him as she came, her muscles contracting on his rigid cock. “Theodore! Fuck!”

Feeling Amelia’s orgasm rush over her, her muscles tightening around him, Theodore felt his own orgasm rushing towards the surface. He drove into her hard, holding her
against the wall, his hips pounding against her. Amelia’s head fell back, and she choked on the sobs of ecstasy that overwhelmed her from her orgasm as Theodore pushed his own over the edge.

He came inside her, her legs locked around his waist, his cock buried deep. She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers in his hair. He kissed her deeply, passionately, all the feelings he had for her pouring out of him as his mouth moved against hers.

Still holding her, Theodore carried her limp, passive body to the bed and laid her gently on the sheets. There, they spent the night cuddling, fucking, and occasionally talking. When Theodore awoke from his sex nap in the early morning hours, Amelia asleep beside him, he moved softly between her legs and began to kiss his way up her thigh.

Amelia stirred slightly, moaning in her sleep, widening her legs for him to move between them. Still not fully awake, she murmured his name. Theodore licked her soft, delicate center, delighting in the way he made her squirm and moan, moving against his tongue, beckoning another orgasm from her. When she came, awake now, he moved between her legs and entered her slowly, his eyes locked on hers, the smile on her face the most beautiful he’d ever seen.

  CHAPTER 17

When Amelia woke, Theodore was snuggled against her, his breath warm on the nape of her neck. She stirred a little, and he pulled her tightly against him, holding her closely. Amelia closed her eyes and sighed happily. Rolling over, she kissed him.

“Good morning,” she whispered, blinking sleepily at him.

“Good morning to you,” he smiled back.

Theodore stroked the hair back from her face and ran his fingers down her back, looking deeply into her eyes. “What would you like to do today?”

“Well, I’ve got to work this afternoon,” she said with a yawn. “But until then, you’re welcome to hang out here. I’ll make you breakfast.”

  “And coffee?” Theodore asked hopefully.

  “And coffee.” Amelia laughed.

  “That sounds amazing.” Theodore grinned.

Amelia rolled out of bed and turned on the shower. She had just started washing her hair when Theodore pulled the curtain back and stepped in.

“Why, hello.” She grinned at him, washing the suds from her hair. “Fancy meeting you here.”

“Do you mind if I join you?” he asked.

“Hell no.” Amelia laughed. She poured some body wash on her hands and ran them over his tanned skin.

“Thank you,” he murmured, relaxing under her touch. “That feels great.” The smell of citrus filled the shower, and Theodore pushed Amelia gently against the wall, kissing her deeply. Amelia ran her hands over his body as Theodore sighed happily.

“Oh, shit!” she yelped as the water suddenly turned cold. Rinsing the soap off quickly, she turned the shower knob and handed Theodore a towel.

“Invigorating.” He laughed, shaking the water from his hair.

Once they had dressed and Amelia had wrapped her long hair up into a messy bun, she led him to the kitchen and brewed a pot of coffee.

“What would you like?” she asked, staring into the fridge. “Pancakes? Eggs? Waffles? I can make some home fries…”

“Mmm, eggs and potatoes sound amazing,” Theodore said, sipping his coffee and watching her from the bar stool on the other side of the kitchen counter. “Can I help with anything?”

“No, no,” she insisted. “My treat. I like cooking for you.”

“Well, I’m a lucky guy.” He smiled.

  “Yes, you are,” she agreed.

As Amelia scrambled the eggs in the pan and seasoned the potatoes, she felt a sudden surge of nausea wash over her. Holding the counter as her forehead broke out into a cold sweat, she blinked away the dizziness.

“Are you okay?” Theodore asked, concerned. He stood up and walked over to her.

“I’m fine,” she said, confused. “I don’t know what that was. Just got light-headed or something. Weird. Maybe I had too much to drink last night. Low blood sugar…”

She smiled her assurance at him and continued scrambling the eggs. Still, she felt a little funny and couldn’t understand why she felt hungover after a night of moderation. She’d hardly had two sips of the wine she poured for herself. Oh, well, she thought, it seems to have passed. She hoped she wasn’t getting sick; it was flu season, after all.

As they ate breakfast at Amelia’s little kitchen table, the vase of flowers between them, Theodore looked happy. Amelia blushed under his gaze as she sipped her coffee. “So what do you have going on today?” she asked him.

“I’ve got to finish grading your final papers,” Theodore said through a mouthful of potatoes. “And I’m going to try to bang out a chapter of my book. It’s been slow this semester. I can’t seem to catch a break. Too much going on.”

“I know the feeling,” Amelia empathized. “Well, I hope your writing goes well.”

“Thanks,” he said. “When do you have to work?”

“One,” she said. “I should get going soon. I can’t believe it’s almost noon!”

“Yeah, I know,” Theodore replied. “It’s been a nice lazy morning, at least. Breakfast was delicious, thank you so much.”

“Any time,” Amelia said coyly. “I’ll keep bribing you to stay over with breakfast.”

“It’ll work.” He laughed. “You’re a great cook. Way better than me.”

Theodore cleared the dishes and rinsed them in the sink while Amelia dug out her apron for the coffee shop. As they approached the door, Theodore stopped. “Maybe I should go out alone?” he suggested. “You know, nothing too conspicuous.” Amelia noticed he seemed nervous all of a sudden, and she was reminded of the reality of their situation. He could still get caught, and it would be bad for both of them.

“Here,” she said, pulling a baseball cap down over his eyes. “Wear this. It’ll be your disguise.”

“Thanks,” he said, adjusting the brim. “You joke, but this is actually a good idea.” He pulled her close and kissed her passionately. Amelia grew light-headed again, and she wobbled when he let her go.

“Wow,” she breathed. “You’re quite the kisser.”

“Have a great day.” He smiled. “I’ll call you later.”

Amelia closed the door behind him. As she stood alone in the hallway, she felt a sharp pain radiate through her stomach. What the hell was going on? Did she have food poisoning? Was she hungover? She steadied herself against the wall and started to put on her shoes, but another sharp pain left her breathless and she slumped to the floor. The wave of nausea hit, and she gathered herself just enough to make it to the bathroom before losing her breakfast.

Amelia leaned against the bathtub, holding her phone in her trembling hands. She considered calling Theodore, but she didn’t want to worry him and thought it might be too soon to burden the man she was seeing with an illness. Instead, she texted Frankie.

I’m really sick, she wrote. Can you take me to the ER?

On my way, Frankie replied immediately. Are you okay? Do you need an ambulance?

  No, just you. Door’s unlocked.

  Be there soon, he texted.

Amelia dropped the phone onto the bathmat and rested her head in her hands. She felt something warm between her legs, and looking down at her khakis, she realized she was bleeding. She wadded toilet paper up and tried to clean herself between the stomach pain and the nausea. Panic built inside her, and her hands trembled as she reached for a tampon.

The box of tampons was empty. Amelia hadn’t replaced it since the last time she bled. Through the fog of pain and confusion, she tried to do the math. Clutching her stomach, she counted, and then counted again. Five weeks since her last period? Was that right? Was she late? She’d had her last one a few days early, so her timing was off and she hadn’t noticed. She had been so relieved to see it that night in the coffee shop she hadn’t been bothered by the early arrival. Maybe things were just a little bit off? Still, she worried because this time it didn’t feel right.

Hauling herself up, she splashed her face with cold water and dried it weakly on a towel. She pulled a clean pair of jeans from her dresser and tossed the blood-stained khakis in the laundry hamper.

Frankie knocked on the door and yelled “Ames, are you in here?”

“In the bedroom,” she called back feebly.

When Frankie entered the room, Amelia was curled up on the bed in the fetal position. “Jesus, Ames, are you okay?” he asked, rushing to her.

  “I don’t know,” she replied. “Something’s wrong.”

“Okay, let’s get you to the hospital,” he said, helping her stand.

“Frankie,” she whispered, “I think I might be pregnant.” Frankie was silent as he helped Amelia to the door.

“What?” he asked, surprised. “But I thought you told me you got your period? How can you be pregnant?”

“I thought I did,” she told him. “But now I don’t know. I just don’t know. I think I might be late. This just doesn’t feel normal.” Amelia trembled, clutching her stomach. “Say something,” she pleaded.

“I… I don’t know what to say,” Frankie replied, astonished. “I mean, I can’t believe it. And, well, I’m scared for you right now.”

“I’m scared, too,” she said, her voice trembling.

“It’ll be okay,” Frankie comforted her. “Watch your step, it’s icy out.”

As they drove to the hospital, Amelia only broke the silence to say, “Frankie, will you call work and tell them I’m sick and can’t come in?”

  “Of course,” he replied.

“Hey,” Amelia said softly, “thank you.”

Frankie reached over and squeezed her arm in the passenger seat. “You’ll be fine,” he said matter-of-factly. “You’ve got to be. You’re my family, Ames.”

They arrived at the hospital, and Frankie pulled into the ER entrance and helped Amelia out. “I’ll be right back,” he told her. “I’ve got to park the car, and I’ll call work and tell them you’re not coming in. Are you okay to go inside alone?”
