“What’s wrong?” he asked, taking my hand.
“I don’t know,” I said. I looked down at his hands that held mine. His thumb gently stroked the back of my hand. “I can’t understand what I did wrong.”
“Why do you think you did something wrong?” he asked softly.
“Because Justin and Emily are both sick and my parents are crying and obviously upset with me. I thought I’d be happy to be home, but I feel horribly sad and lonely. I miss you so much.” Tears pooled in my eyes and one spilt over onto my cheek as I looked back up at him. “I thought you said the story ends well?”
“Yes, I did,” he smiled.
“Well this is not my idea of ending well!” I said sharply.
He reached up and wiped the tear from my cheek and said, “Then it must not be the end of the story.”
