An Undying Love

by Janet MacDonald

In a way, it was the reunion of Terra and Jared. Their souls now fused to a mated pair so they could finally be together once more. They needed to do this here, now, to ensure the return of something that had been lost to their kind eons ago. A new generation of werewolves would begin with their first child. Images of her, plump and pregnant, caused him to smile more. She was the most beautiful creature he’d ever laid eyes on, and she was all his. Now and forever.

  Epilogue

Edwina stepped into the clearing. The apple orchard was exactly how her mother had depicted it in her diary. She looked around and thought it strange there were no patrols or even sentries out protecting the island. Her nervousness was not unfounded, but still she felt a bit silly as she followed the path. How did one introduce themselves to a family who didn’t even know she existed?

Would they hate her, see her as an enemy or would they welcome her with open arms? Her thoughts tortured her. Maybe she shouldn’t have come. Maybe she should have stayed in the mountains with her father. But she didn’t like her father’s new mate, or the fact he could so easily replace her mother so soon after her death. Hell, she’d only known she had another family by reading her mother’s diary after she sorted through her things. That had given her quite the shock.

All her life she’d thought her parents had been joined by a pack agreement, but upon reading the diary, she’d learned the horrible truth. Her mother had been forced to mate her father, had been stolen from another she was in love with as well as her children. Edwina wanted to know them, wanted to learn about their lives and to let them know their mother had died. It seemed only right. It would be something she would want to know.

So lost in her thoughts, she almost didn’t notice the tantalizing aroma of a male wolf. The smell reminded her of her intended mate, Titus. A smiled danced on her lips at the thought of him. How she missed his scent and voice, but he was back in the mountains. Although she missed him greatly, she wasn’t in love with him. Their planned mating had been arranged. It was a good fit. He was strong, handsome and a good man, but he did not stir her soul the way she longed for. He understood. He had been in love with another, but had to do as his father decreed, and now although they were friends, he too did not feel the love.

A low growl made her look at the edge of a thicket. She stopped dead in her tracks. Edwina was not afraid, but she was a little nervous. A large, all gray male appeared from the foliage. His head was low and his teeth were bared.

“I’m kin,” she said. She stood her ground, not advancing nor stepping back. He transformed, and a naked young man stood there, the shrub hiding his lower half from sight.

  “What’s your name?” he asked.

  “Edwina, and you?”

“Memphis, what are you doing here? This is a pack held territory.”

“I’m looking for Chris, Dante or Cora.”

  “Why?”

  “I’m their sister.”
