Catrina glanced over her shoulder as the necromancer entered the room. He was at least as tall as Jacob, around six foot three and his long red cloak reached to the floor. He was wearing a silver mask which covered all but his eyes and they glowed red as he caught sight of the priest. Catrina did a backbend with her legs wrapped around Jacob’s waist as she drew the pistol from his coat. Before the necromancer could blink she shot him in the ribs. He screamed and fell back beside the stage.

Then, just as promised all hell broke loose. Viktor came running in from behind the stage at the same time Bernard attacked the group of vampires nearest his table. He knocked them all back with what appeared to be a blast of wind. More vampires came pouring in from the exits and others ran out the front door. Snarling and howling could be heard as they ran straight into the wolf pack.

Catrina pulled her blades from inside the priests coat and chopped a path across the room to Bernard. Viktor had found someone with a cigarette lighter and was using it to cast fireballs onto the vampires who continued to pour into the room. The fight raged for several minutes before Malik managed to battle his way through to the priest. Jacob took down two more vampires with his sword before he caught sight of the necromancer. But it was too late.

In a matter of minutes he had the priest on the ground.

  “Viktor!” Catrina screamed.

He immediately turned and hit the necromancer with a fireball in the back. Malik fell to the ground screaming and when he did his mask came off.

“It’s you,” Jacob said as Catrina made it back to his side.

Malik had a large cross-shaped burn scar on the right side of his face.

“You’re a vampire too. You’ve been turning all these people.”

“Congratu-fucking-lations,” Malik spat. “It only took you twenty years to figure that out.”

“But I thought you were working for the church in the hopes of having your sins absolved,” Jacob said.

“Forgiveness isn’t what it’s cracked up to be,” Malik said nastily.

They all jumped when Viktor snapped a picture of the necromancer.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Malik asked, getting back to his feet.

“Taking a picture so her sister can identify her attacker,” he said, tossing the camera to Catrina. “Because they’re won’t be anything left of you by dawn.”

Catrina and Jacob took a step back as all the light in the room seemed to fade. Bernard continued to annihilate what was left of the crowd as they watched the darkness gather around Viktor.

“What’s the matter, Malik? You look frightened,” Viktor said and his voice echoed. “I thought you were a master vampire,” he said with a laugh. “Well, let’s see some power then. Summon your familiars to your aid! Transfigure your form,” he challenged.

They watched as Viktor’s body began to reshape itself. He didn’t exactly draw the light from the room. He became the shadow that shaped the light.

“Or do you only pick on little girls?” he snarled.

With these words Viktor’s right hand formed the shadowy image of a wolf’s head. The shadow lunged forward and took Malik’s head clean off.

The darkness reshaped itself into Viktor’s normal form and he turned to the remaining crowd.

“Stop!” he yelled. “Those of you who remain have two options. You can surrender and be allowed to live, or you can die. As it stands now you’d best start talking, otherwise none of you will live to meet the dawn.”

After watching him take out their leader so easily, Viktor didn’t have a hard time convincing the remaining vampires to surrender.

  * * * *

A few hours later they were all back at The Palace and Catrina had only recently stopped shaking. Jacob and Harry were safely tucked away in well guarded rooms and Bernard was out on the balcony enjoying the view. Catrina had asked Viktor and Alexander to both join her in Viktor’s chambers. She was waiting in front of the fireplace, staring into the flames.

As they entered the room she told them, “When I went out on that stage tonight, I thought I was going to die. Things were finished quickly, but I had no way of knowing they would be. I’ve never been so scared in all my life. My point is, things could just have easily gone the other way.” She walked over to Alexander as she said, “Whatever there is between us, I want it settled tonight. If I have to face my death tomorrow or even centuries from now I want to know which it’s going to be and who’s going to be by my side.”

“Well spoken,” Viktor said, placing a hand on her shoulder. He turned to Alexander and said, “Join with me and not only will you never feel the sting of death, but you will never be defeated as alpha. This I promise.”

Alexander considered his words for a moment and was just about to reply when Catrina placed a finger against his lips.

“First,” she said. “How about a test drive? If for some reason things don’t work out, I’d like to know what I almost got to have for all eternity.”

  Chapter Thirty One

She had long since changed out of the harem outfit and was wearing one of Viktor’s long black robes. As she reached for Alexander, she untied the sash and let the robe fall open. The werewolf’s hands felt warm against her waist.

“I would do anything for you,” he whispered and his pale eyes reflected the truth of those words.

“So would I,” Viktor answered as he wrapped his arms around her from behind. He looked over at the werewolf and winked. “I’m sure we can work something out,” he said persuasively.

“I’m sure we can,” Alexander agreed.

Something wild flickered behind his eyes as the vampire approached him.

“Let me undress you,” Viktor whispered.

Alexander held up his arms and as Viktor pulled the shirt over his head, Catrina pressed a kiss against his chest. She continued to trail kisses down his torso as the vampire reached around him and unbuttoned his jeans. He jumped a little when Viktor nipped at his back, but he didn’t fight it.

“You know,” Viktor whispered in his ear, “through our connection, I can feel everything Catrina feels.” Alexander gasped as she took him in her mouth. “So whatever you do to her,” Viktor purred, “you do it to me.”

He began to undress himself as he continued to nibble at Alexander’s back.

“I’ve never wanted anything as much as I want both of you,” she panted.

While Catrina continued to kiss her way up and down the werewolf’s body, Viktor moved behind her and slid off her robe. He ran his tongue up her back and when Catrina shivered he took her from behind.

She cried out and gripped Alex tighter so as not to lose her balance. Viktor reached around and pulled back her long hair while she pushed the werewolf down into the chair. She knelt between his legs and Viktor readjusted to the new position, continuing to hold back her hair while he slid himself in and out of her body.

Alexander had expected the scene to be erotic, but he was not prepared for what watching Viktor take Catrina did to him. His beast cried out for more and for once he and his beast were in complete agreement.

After a while, Catrina leaned back, resting back against Viktor’s body. She motioned for Alexander to join them and he didn’t need to be asked twice. He leaned over Catrina, kissing her hungrily as the vampire caressed his back. Viktor was kneeling on the floor with Catrina’s body resting back against him when Alexander took her, and as he did so the vampire leaned forward to kiss him. He moved slowly and she wrapped her legs around him as Viktor deepened the kiss.

Catrina arched her body against him, urging him to move faster.

“Yes,” Viktor whispered, “give us your beast.”

Alexander picked up the pace and since Viktor had all of Catrina’s emotions coursing through him, it wasn’t long before the werewolf brought them both to orgasm before finding his own release.

The three of them rested by the fire for several minutes before Alexander finally spoke.

  “I think I could do
that for eternity,” he teased. “But about this agreement,” he said to Viktor. “I’ve got some points I’d like to negotiate.”

  Epilogue

While Catrina, Viktor and Alexander went over the terms of their agreement, Bernard and Jacob finally got to have a long talk. As it turns out they were bitten by the same woman. Hearing of her death and understanding he was finally free seemed to help Bernard even more.

A few nights later Viktor presented Mandy with a picture of the necromancer and she positively identified her attacker. She took great pleasure in hearing of his death. As for Uncle Harry, he had no idea whose ashes were over the mantle, but they were definitely not his. He had been hot on the trail of Malik when he was discovered. They were planning to keep him in a coffin until a “proper use” for him arose. So much for that. He’d gone back to living at Ravensdale Manor, though Catrina was still listed as officially owning the property. Harry was sure he could find a way to work the fact that everyone thought he was dead to his advantage.

Viktor was still working with Jacob to develop his vampire powers and it was looking more and more like he might have the power of light. Draco was preparing to launch his clothing line. It would be targeted toward cross-dressers and would be known as “Drag-ula.”

As for Alexander and Viktor coming to an agreement, they were still dicking around on points. Jacob still teased about her wanting to have her cake and eat it too. Lucky for her it appeared that Viktor and Alexander were both fans of cake, not to mention creative things to do with the icing. Catrina was thrilled, because it looked like that “happily ever after” might still be within her reach. And let’s face it, who doesn’t want a happy ending?

  THE END
