Afterword
Let me open this with an apology. This book was originally planned to come out in August 2017, but the work and stress of an impending move and a lot of other things going on ended up derailing my writing schedule more often than I expected.
And I’d also like to express my gratitude to all of you not only for your patience in waiting for this book, but also your support of Devil’s Due. The response to the first book in the Luther Cross series has been nothing short of amazing. That book has become a massive success and it’s because of every one of you who have bought, shared, and reviewed the book.
I’d also like to thank my editor, Izzi Pickering, for the quick turnaround of this book. This book took so long to complete and when I asked if it was possible to get this book edited quickly, Izzi performed the edits in record time. And I also want to thank Midnight Whimsy for the incredible covers done for this series, not only the one for Devil’s Descent, but also the covers for the first book, Devil’s Due, and Devil’s Taunt and Other Stories, a prequel novella and a collection of four Luther Cross short stories available only at cross.percivalconstantine.com.
I’d also like to thank Tammi Labrecque for her plotting assistance. There was a point in the book when I ran into some roadblocks and Tammi helped me break through those walls.
And finally, the author community and in particular my author’s group for their continued support. The indie author community has some drama in it, but when push comes to shove, most of us are incredibly supportive of each other and we see each other as allies, not competitors.
I hope you’ve enjoyed Devil’s Descent. Despite the setbacks, this book was fun to write. Ironically, I wrote the afterword for Devil’s Due from Chicago and said I was on the verge of moving to California to begin a new phase of my life. Now I’m back in Chicago as I write the afterword to Devil’s Descent, and I’m on the verge of another new phase of my life and returning to Japan!
Soon, I’ll begin work on the third Luther Cross novel. The world has grown bigger in this book and expect more twists and turns coming down the line.

About the Author
Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Percival Constantine grew up on a fairly consistent diet of superhero comics, action movies, video games, and TV shows. At the age of ten, he first began writing and has never really stopped.
Percival has been working in publishing since 2005 in various capacities—author, editor, formatter, letterer—and has written books, short stories, comics, and more. He has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Mass Media from Northeastern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in English and Screenwriting from Southern New Hampshire University. He currently resides in Japan where he continues to produce more stories.
