The Highland Captive

Page 21

by Johanna Maas

As Lizbeth lay within the security of her warrior's arms, she could feel the heat of his skin and hear the steady beat of his heart below her. His arms circled her with his strength while silently promised his protection. As he pulled his plaid over their bodies, she smiled within, a full knowing of his gesture and a different kind of a warmth now consuming her body. As the soft material covered them completely, she looked up into his eyes as she brought the plaid to her lips. As she gazed upon his face, she lovingly kissed its corner while acknowledging with her actions she was truly accepting him and all he had to offer.

His heart burst with his love as her gestures melded their hearts and further bonded them together for life. As he placed a warm kiss upon her forehead he whispered, "I love you," as he held her close. He could not now or ever, imagine his life without her.

As the light from the late afternoon began to fade, they lay together upon the bed. Their bodies were completely entwined and their hearts now fused forever. Blake and Lizbeth both cherished the love they had found, the passions they had shared and the life they could now have, together.
