Underneath
Raphael Angel had been held captive and abused for years until he is rescued and brought to the pack of his brothers. There he meets his enforcer mate Christian, but Christian cannot claim Raffy. The horrors in Raffy’s past make him unable to be touched by anyone, so how can Christian claim him? The two spend time together and want nothing more than to be together, but what holds Raffy back is his anxiety over how his mate will react to his desire to wear women’s clothing.
Raffy and his brothers Gabriel and Castiel go missing and Alpha mate Jesse falls under a spell that traps him in his own mind in a loop of hell.
The pack turns to the demon warrior, Phenex, for help as the mates stand together to save Jesse and their mates as the paranormal council is destroyed. A confrontation between the evil Nigel Brighton unfolds, and the man known as the heart is finally revealed.

Prologue
Two Weeks Before Thanksgiving
Christian stood outside one of the guest rooms on the second floor of the pack house. Inside the room were their two unexpected visitors from another plane. He couldn’t wrap his mind around the events that had just taken place only a few short hours ago down in the kitchen. A bright light shone in the kitchen while they were eating breakfast and out walked two men. But not just any men, oh hell no, that would be too easy. It had to be the fucking king of the fae and the lord of the dragons. Fucking dragons, really? He didn’t even know they still existed. Now they had the lord of them right behind that door.
What the hell was going on in their world? All these new people and creatures and shit that was going on was just too much. When Micah returned from Napa he was going to ask for a few weeks off. He needed a vacation. His head was killing him from thinking about all of this. And the mates. Damn. It seemed like mates were showing up left and right around here. First Jesse and Taylor, then Bastian goes out to Napa to get a shifter doctor to save Taylor and returns saying he’s leaving because he found his mate, but that’s not all, his mate is the leader of a pride of cat shifters and he gets two mates. What the fuck? Who knew?
Then the doc gets here and it turns out he’s Sebastian’s mates brother and he’s Raith’s mate. So now Raith gets two mates, too. Now Bass has found his second mate, and he is a fae that they just rescued from captivity. And his friend Sky, from Dante’s coven also found his mate in the Napa pride. Everyone was falling like flies with the mates showing up. Not that he didn’t want his mate, because he did. He had always wanted his mate since he first learned what a mate was. He spent almost all of his two hundred and ninety-nine years just dreaming about who his mate was and when he would be lucky enough to find him. It was just that their world was getting scarier than normal, and having a mate to worry about normally was stressful enough. How would he protect his mate from all of this shit going on? Damn, it scared the shit out of him just thinking about it.
“You’re thinking so hard over there I can practically smell the smoke coming out of your head,” Cass said with a smirk.
Castiel Angel, his best friend for over two hundred and forty years, the only person who knew everything about him. His life wasn’t all roses, and it was hard for him to talk about still, but Cass knew everything. He knew he could count on every member of the inner pack and Dante’s coven, but Cass would go even beyond that. He really was the best friend that anyone could want. He was smart, strong, and loyal as hell. Christian couldn’t ask for a better friend.
“Just thinking about all the shit going on around here lately,” he answered.
“I hear ya, buddy. This is just too much. A fae king and a dragon lord. What the fuck?” Cass said.
“So did Raith say when Micah, Jesse, Taylor, and Gabe wou
ld be landing?” Christian asked, turning his head to look at his friend, who was standing on the other side of the guest room door as they guarded their guests.
Cass looked at his watch. “They should have landed by now, so they should be here soon.”
“Once all this shit is worked out today, do you want to go to the bar and shoot some pool?” Christian asked. “I just feel like sitting back with a beer and chillin’.”
“Yeah, I’m in. That sounds like a good plan,” Cass answered, just as the door to the guest room opened. Cass and Christian both turned to face their guests.
“Gentleman, we were wondering if it would be possible to go to your kitchen for a bite? We are feeling a little peckish,” the fae king asked.
“Sure. We’ll take you there now. But just a little history lesson, no one says ‘peckish’ anymore. These days we just say we’re hungry. Let’s go,” Cass answered, and turned toward the stairs.
“Sorry we forgot to ask if you needed anything. There’s just a lot going on. Let’s get you to the kitchen for a sandwich. What do you like?” Christian asked as they walked toward the stairs.
“What do you have?” Dare asked.
“We still have a little leftover roast beef that Jesse made before he left. It’s so good. I bet you never tasted anything better in all your days. Our alpha mate cooks life a five-star chef and he spoils the hell out of us,” Christian said with a chuckle.
“Your alpha mate is a he?” Dare asked in surprise.
“Yes. You got a problem with that?” Cass asked as he continued down the stairs.
“No, not at all. I was just surprised that the wolves allowed it. The last time I was here there was no way the wolves would accept same-sex relationships,” Dare answered.
“Yeah well, they still have a problem with it, but we don’t care. That’s why our alpha started this pack. So that gay wolves had somewhere to go. We’re all gay,” Cass said.
“I’m guessing this word, gay, means that you all like men?” Ryland asked.
“Yes. That’s the phrase used for it in today’s world,” Christian answered.
“So this whole pack is just gay wolves?” Dare asked in curiosity.
“No. The pack as a whole has all different types. But the inner pack are all gay,” Christian answered as they stepped into the kitchen.

“I gotta say, I was a little nervous there for a second when Jesse and Taylor walked into the kitchen and the king looked at Jesse like he was the best thing he ever laid eyes on. I thought for sure Micah was going to turn the king into chop meat,” Christian said as he bent over the pool table. “Six ball, side pocket,” he said, and took his shot. The ball spun around and rolled right into the pocket. “Yes. Ha.”
“Show off. Just take your next shot,” Cass said, and took a swig of his beer. “Yeah, I know what you mean. I thought the fae god was a goner.”
“The fae god?” Christian asked and raised a brow at his best friend.
“What? Like you haven’t checked the man out? Please. He’s fucking fine,” Cass said, and licked his lips.
Christian chuckled. “That he is, my friend, that he is. But I don’t think he would submit to you, buddy. He’s more an alpha type,” Christian said and tapped his cue against the corner pocket. He lined up his shot and tapped the ball with the tip of his cue. The ball shot wide, bounced off the end bumper, and rolled away. “Damn.”
Cass stood up and laughed at Christian’s miss. He patted his friend’s back and circled the table, looking for a shot. He leaned over the table and lined up his cue. “I don’t give a flying fuck who does who. I love both positions,” he said as he took his shot and missed. He stood up and looked at Christian. “And I think you’re wrong. I think that big man of muscle is submissive in the bedroom. Something about him just screams ‘do me’.” Cass laughed and sat down on his stool again.
“Yeah well you may like to go both, but I like to top,” Christian said, and took a swig from his beer. “So what does Micah want to talk to us about in the morning?”
“I don’t know. Something about what they found in Napa was all he or Gabe would tell me,” Cass answered.

“Come on in, you two,” Micah said as Cass and Christian entered his office. Micah was sitting behind his desk with Jesse on his lap. Gabriel sat on the couch with Taylor on his lap, as the two sucked each other’s tonsils out. Christian shook his head at the two and chuckled as he took a seat in one of the chairs across from them.
“Can you two even breathe, or should we get an oxygen tank?” Cass asked, and sat down in one of the other chairs. But Gabe and Taylor just kept sucking face.
Micah and Jesse walked over and sat down next to each other on the other couch. “Gabe, you wanna release Taylor’s tonsils and join in this conversation or what?” Micah snickered.
Gabriel and Taylor pulled apart and turned to look at the group. “I had my tonsils removed when I was a kid. My man was just trying to suck my cock through my mouth. Now that takes skill,” Taylor said with a cheeky smirk, and Gabe blushed.
“All right, you two. We need to get serious here. When we’re all done you can go back to your room and fuck like bunnies,” Micah said, laughing. Micah turned to look at Cass. His whole demeanor changed from relaxed to stressed, and it made Christian a little nervous.
“Cass, we have something to tell you. We asked Christian to be here, too, because he is your best friend and we thought you might need him,” Micah started.
They both sat in quiet shock as Micah, Jesse, Gabriel, and Taylor told them what happened in Napa and about finding a man named Raffy, who actually turned out to be Cass and Gabe’s brother Balthazar. Holy shit on toast. They didn’t even know they had another brother until that she-bitch Hillary had told Micah how he disappeared about five years ago. Now they learned that the poor man was held captive for five years and tortured, raped, and experimented on, that their father, the prick, had actually given their brother to this Brighton guy.
Christian turned to look at his friend’s reaction as Micah explained everything to them. Cass just sat stone still with no emotion showing on his face. That was not a good sign. He knew Cass even better than his big brother Gabriel, and he knew when Cass got all quiet and stone-faced that that meant trouble.
When Micah finished explaining, everyone just stared at Cass, waiting for his reaction. Christian knew Cass wouldn’t blow. He hardly ever did. He was a very quiet, laid-back person and kept a lot of things to himself, only sharing it with Christian when they were alone. If it was something that really affected him, he would go to the workout room and beat on the weight bag for a while.
“Cass?” Gabriel asked cautiously.
Cass blinked a few times and then stood up, running his fingers through his hair as he turned toward the window. He stared out the window for a few minutes and then turned to look at them. “That fuck didn’t do enough damage to us, he had to go and sell his own child to a fucking monster? We need to go back to Montana and put that bastard down, Gabe, before he can hurt anyone else,” Cass said between clenched teeth. “And Balthazar…um…Raffy, is here? He’s here right now in this house? Is he okay? Can I see him?” Cass asked quietly, like he was afraid to see his brother but excited at the same time.
Gabe nodded his head. “Of course. We told him all about you and he wants to meet you. So whenever you’re ready we can bring you up and introduce you,” Gabriel explained.
Cass looked at Christian. “Will you come up with me to meet my little brother?”
Christian stood up and walked to his friend. He laid a hand on his shoulder. “Of course, buddy. If that’s what you want,” Christian answered.
* * * *
Micah opened the door to the guest room where Cass’s new brother was staying. They all walked in except Cass. He stood in the hall for a moment just staring at the floor. Christian placed his hand on Cass’s shoulder from behind and gave a small squeeze, trying to reassure his frie
nd that everything was going to be okay. Cass lifted his head and squared his shoulders. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, then took a step into the room.
Christian followed, and as he stepped fully into the room, the most incredible smell washed over him. It was sweet and flowery, but had an undercurrent of man. He loved it. He wanted to find the source of this magnificent aroma and roll around in it naked. His cock started to fill and his teeth were getting itchy. He searched the room for the source and found the cutest, most beautiful man he had ever seen in his life sitting up on the bed. He was leaning against the headboard and the covers were pooled around his lap. The man was on the small side and he didn’t look like he weighed all that much. He had light, sandy-blond hair that had white streaks in it and looked like it was braided and went down his back. His eyes were unbelievably light blue, like a glacier. His face looked so soft and angelic. He was stunning. There were no other words that Christian could think of in this moment except stunning.
“Castiel, this is Raphael, your brother.” Micah introduced them, bringing Christian out of his lust-filled fog.
Micah’s words snapped something inside his brain and he suddenly felt a great loss. He watched as his best friend stopped at the side of the bed and held out his hand. The beautiful man in the bed reached out, clasped Cass’s hand in a shy handshake, and then quickly pulled his hand back.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know,” Cass whispered, and Christian could see that his friend was in pain from the guilt he was feeling over not being there for his brother.
