“See, this witch is making me dislike her already. How she text you to meet her here, but she ain’t here?”
Dillon just shook his head. “Calm down, baby. Don’t get yourself all uptight. We don’t know why she’s running late.”
Zoe looked over at him and shook her head. “I don’t see how you can be so calm at a time like this.”
“I just don’t see a reason to act up about it. Hopefully, she shows up soon.” At that time the conference room door opened up and in walked Rihanna followed by Delia. Delia and Dillon’s eyes connected and they instantly smiled at him. “Wow,” he whispered now having gotten a better look at Delia. For sure she was his child. He could see himself in her smile, in her eyes, and in the curly texture of her hair.
Wow, Zoe thought as Delia and Rihanna made their way over to the table where they were seated. She is so pretty. This is certainly his daughter. A part of her wanted to feel happy for him as she glanced over at the smile planted on his face. However, another part of her was envious of the fact that Rihanna had ties to her man for at least 10 more years.
“Hello,” Rihanna spoke as she pulled back a chair and sat down.
“Hey,” Dillon and Zoe both spoke.
“Hi, I’m Rihanna.” She said, and then noticed that she’d met Zoe before. “Oh, I think we met that night in the parking lot outside of my cousin’s apartment.”
Zoe nodded her head. “Yes, we sure did.” She responded. “But, in case you forgot, I’m Zoe.”
Rihanna forced a smile her way. “Nice to meet you once again.” She softly said as she thought. This is going to be very awkward.
“So we meet again?” Dillon said as he glanced over at Delia.
“Yeah, who would’ve ever known?” Rihanna said with a quaint smile. “This is Delia. Delia this is Dillon.”
“Hi Dillon,” she softly spoke.
“Hi Delia,” he spoke back.
Rihanna watched as they looked each other over. It was amazing how much Delia resembled him to a point where all she could do was shake her head. “I know this may seem odd for you-”
“Who you telling?” Zoe mumbled with a slick roll of the eyes. Instantly she looked over at Delia who had clearly heard her as she softly snickered. Zoe smiled at her. I think I like you already. She thought.
Rihanna cleared her throat as she cut her eyes over at Zoe. “Well, like I was saying,” she started again. “I know that this is very uncomfortable for you and I’m sorry about that. However, I’ve done a little soul searching and have realized that what was going on was wrong and that at some point I’d have to come clean with you. We sat down and spoke with Delia and answered all of her questions. And boy did she have questions,” she added. “She’s very, very smart for her age so it didn’t take much for her to understand what we were talking her. Once she knew what was going on then I felt it only right to include you as well. Instead of putting it off until later, I decided that it was time now. I already knew that this day would come. I just didn’t know when.”
“I have so many questions. It’s so many things I want to ask you.” Dillon said as he nervously scratched in his head. “I mean, like how did this happen?”
Rihanna softly grinned as if to say, you know how.
“When??? When did this happen?” He questioned.
“You see, this is where it gets complicated.” Rihanna responded as Delia dropped her head. Whatever Rihanna wanted to talk about even Delia didn’t feel comfortable with it.
Oh Lord, Zoe thought as she stared across the table at her.
“Delia, why don’t you go out in the lobby for a moment. I’ll let you know when to come back in.”
“Is she going to be alright in the lobby?” Dillon questioned.
“It’s okay, my sister is out there waiting for me.” Delia chimed in with a cute smile.
Dillon frowned. “Sister? So, you have more than one child?”
Rihanna nodded her head up and down. “Technically, I do.” She responded.
I wish this bitch would just come on with it. Zoe thought as she leaned back in her chair and took in a deep breath. Her eyes widened as she stared Rihanna in the face. OMG! I believe this bitch got twins.
“Well, the only way to explain this is to just come out with it.” Rhianna attempted to explain. “You see, dating you was convenient, Dillon. I don’t mean for that to sound bad, because I really did fall for you. However, I’d been in a serious relationship prior to you that was still going strong during the time I was with you.”
Zoe frowned. Is this bitch serious? She thought as Dillon sat in silence while taking it all in so he could figure it all out. “So, are you trying to tell him that you’d been cheating on him with a nigga that didn’t mind you dating another nigga?” She bluntly questioned. “This shit is getting crazier by the minute.” She uttered.
“Well,” Rihanna said as she cut her eyes at Zoe, and then back at Dillon. “It wasn’t exactly like that.” She defended herself.
“Well, what was it like? Do you even know for sure that Delia is my daughter?”
“The person that I was fucking around with couldn’t get me pregnant. Which is the reason why we sought you.”
Like I said, crazier, and crazier, Zoe thought with an irritated shake of the head.
“Don’t come here telling me that I was a pawn to be a sperm donor for you and some nigga that couldn’t have his own seeds. Just don’t tell me no shit like that.” He said with an agitated shake of the head. Just thinking about her acting like she really loved him, but was only waiting for the moment to get pregnant so she could leave him.
“So, is that what you’re trying to say?” Zoe pondered as she impatiently crossed her arms.
Rihanna’s phone rang which was the only reason why she didn’t respond to Zoe. It was also a good thing, because she was about ready to give her the business. “Hello,” she answered. “Yeah, y’all can come on in.”
Dillon smugly grinned as he watched her end the call. “So, you’re about to introduce me to this lame ass nigga?”
“Just tell him that Delia has a twin!” Zoe blurted out causing Rihanna to frown.
“Delia doesn’t have a twin.” She spat at Zoe. “And, I’m not about to introduce you to no lame ass nigga.” She added as she looked over at Dillon. At that moment Delia entered the conference room door followed by Alicia and another girl around the same age as Delia. “What I’ve been trying to tell you is that Delia is biologically not my daughter. She is Alicia’s daughter.”
Dillon’s mouth dropped open, but before he could respond Rihanna continued.
“You see, Alicia is my wife and Delia is your daughter by her.” She said as it all started coming back to him. He looked over at Alicia as she smiled at him. All he could do was drop his head and shake it. Thoughts crossed his mind about the time when he’d gotten her pregnant, but she supposedly had an abortion. “Wow,” Dillon whispered. “So, you never had an abortion?”
Alicia shook her head from left to right as she answered, “No. I never had any intentions too.”
“Wait, whoaaaaaa.” Zoe cut in before Dillon could respond. They were giving her too much too soon. “Slow down. Y’all got me confused here.” She said as she stood up and looked over at Alicia. “So, you’re Alicia and you’re married to Rihanna?” She frowned with a perplexed expression on her face. “Is this who you were in a relationship with prior and during?” she questioned Rihanna.
“Yes,” Rihanna admitted.
“No wonder,” Dillon whispered as he thought back to Rihanna asking that Alicia join them in the bedroom. “Wow, so all of this was planned?” He questioned as he looked from Alicia to Rihanna.
“Wait a minute,” Zoe chimed in as she circled the other little girl. She was damn near a replica of Delia. “Oh my God,” she blurted out. “Alicia is the one that has the twins.”
“There are no twins,” Rihanna irritably cut in, and then called Deja’ over to her. “Deja’ this is Dillon. Dillon this is D
eja’. To put a stop to your girlfriend’s assumptions.” She said with a slick roll of the eyes. “Deja’ is your daughter. That part is true. However, she’s my biological daughter by you.”
Dillon almost flipped backwards out of his seat. “Say what now?”
Zoe just stood there shaking her head. “You have got to be kidding me?” She mumbled with a shocked expression on her face. “Shit just got real.”
Chapter 13
A week had passed, and it was now the day before Olivia and Zay’s wedding day. Olivia was up bright and early running some last minute errands as she swiftly parked into an empty parking spot in front of Dillon’s crib. She honked the horn a few times as Zoe dashed out of the front door.
“I can’t believe that she’s on time,” Olivia said as Zoe made her way to the car. Once she got in she reached over and hugged Olivia tightly around the neck.
“My sister’s getting married tomorrow!!!” She excitedly cheered.
“I know right,” Olivia laughed as she hugged Zoe back. “I’m so freaking excited!!!” She shouted. “I know that I’ve been married before, but this wedding has me ecstatically stoked to become Mrs. Dubois.”
Zoe smiled. “It does sound good when it’s rolling off of your tongue.” She snickered.
“Tell me about it,” Olivia said. “So you know we have a busy day today.”
“Yeah, it’s a lot going on today,” she said with a shake of the head.
“Damn, I forgot that the paternity tests are coming today.”
“That’s why I’m glad that I was leaving for the day. I didn’t care to be there when he opened the envelope.”
Olivia glanced over at her, and then back at the road. “I thought you had come to terms with this by now.”
“How? I already had to swallow that pill when I found out about Delia, but then to find out about Deja’, too. This is the kind of shit that only plays on TV.” She said with an irritable shake of the head. “My man popped up with two kids by two different women.”
“What got me was the fact that they’re married.” Olivia snuck in.
“Yesssss!” Zoe quickly agreed. “And my crazy ass sittin’ here thinking that she was married to a nigga. Damn, that shit was mind blowing. I mean seriously mind blowing.” She repeated it like it left a bad taste in her mouth.
“It sure as hell blew my mind. Hell, and his brother’s mind too. That had to be the funniest shit we’d ever heard and I ain’t talking about ‘haha’ funny.” Olivia slid in.
Zoe couldn’t have agreed more. “So funny that we forgot laugh.” She chimed in while seriously analyzing the situation. “See, I can deal with Dillon’s daughters. They were before my time, but these bitches had the nerve to ask him if he’d father another baby for them. Can you believe that shit, Sis?”
Olivia shook her head. “Only because it’s coming from you.” She answered.
“I can’t believe that they had the audacity to even ask him that; especially in front of his woman. You should’ve seen me. I was standing there with my mouth dropped open. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. And Dillon, my poor baby was looking like a deer caught in headlights. They’d already hit him with not one, but two blows. Then they turn around and ask if he’d help them in having another baby.”
“I guess they want ‘em all to share the same DNA.” Olivia said.
“I don’t care what they want. My man ain’t doing that shit.” Zoe stated with a smack of the lips.
“I can’t blame you.” Olivia said. “That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. They’ve got some nerves anyway. When I say they pulled the wool over his eyes, they did.”
“Talk about trust issues. Shit, after I heard how sneaky they were with Dillon, my man might start to have some trust issues. Can you blame him?”
Olivia shook her head. “Nah, you sho’ can’t blame him.”
“I hope this doesn’t affect anything in our relationship.”
“It shouldn’t, but y’all are gonna have to be strong to get through this madness.”
“I already know,” Zoe said as Olivia parked beside Shay’s car at the Spa. They had a four hour pampering session and she couldn’t wait to get inside to relax her mind and her body.
Shay started getting out of her car as soon as Olivia parked. Once Olivia and Zoe were out the car, Shay was standing there with some juicy gossip.
“What’s up, girl?” Olivia quickly asked after seeing the eager expression on her face.
“Can you believe that Mark is trying to get with Felisha?”
Olivia’s eyes widened. “Get with her as in being in a relationship with her?”
“Yep,” Shay said.
“What about Angel? Is he just gonna ditch his fiancé like that?” Zoe questioned with a puzzled expression on her face. “And why the change of heart with Felisha? Oh, don’t tell me. I guess he’s saying it’s because of the kids.”
“That probably sums it up.” Olivia chimed in.
“Well, I know this to be true because he called off the engagement this morning with Angel. He told her that he was leaving her.”
“Are you serious?” Olivia questioned.
“As a heart attack,” Shay answered.
“I hate to say it though, but Angel brought that shit on herself. I kept telling her to go get some help and make things right. He just wasn’t patient enough with her. Now who knows what she might do. She’s already fragile, and then he kicks her while she’s down.”
Olivia shook her head. “Unfortunately, that’s the only way Mark knows how to play.”
“Well, I feel sorry for her. She actually got dumped by your ex-husband on the day that you’re marrying her ex-boyfriend. It really sucks to be her.” Zoe commented.
“Damn, that is bad. I’m gonna go sit with her later. I think she’ll appreciate the company.”
“I think so, too.” Olivia said. “I just want to make sure that she stays away from me and my family I pray to God that she doesn’t show up to my wedding. I’m sure that the way her mind is set up, no telling what devious thoughts might be running through it for some get back.”
“I’ll keep an eye on her for you,” Shay said.
“Keep two and feel free to borrow my eye glasses so that you’ll have four. I need to make sure that she stays in her lane.” Olivia responded. “Now, let’s go in here and relax. I don’t wanna talk about nobody else. Let’s leave the gossip out the door.”
“Yeah right,” Zoe teased. “We’ll be talking about somebody else by the time we sit down for a pedicure.”
Olivia looked at her sister, and then laughed as she agreed. “You’re right about that.”

Later in the day, Logan sat with thoughts of Angel on his mind. He’d been calling her all week, but she had yet to answer or respond. He’d gotten word from Shay that she was going through it and all he wanted to do was be there for her. He knew how Angel was. Even though she looked like a woman that had it held all together; she really didn’t. Unfortunately, her insecurities played a big part in that.
“Fuck it,” Logan said as he reached for his cell phone. “I’m going to keep calling her until she answers.” But before he could call out his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and smiled. Quickly he answered the call. “Hey beautiful.”
Felisha smiled. “Hey you,” she spoke back. “How are you doing?”
“I’m good; can’t complain.” He responded.
“Well, that’s good.” She said.
Logan cleared his throat. “How have you been?” He pondered since he hadn’t spoken to her since she’d been home. He’d been sitting back hoping that she would’ve thought of him and called or that Patrice would’ve told her how he kept check on her. That within itself should’ve gave her a reason to call, but she never did.
“I’ve been going through a lot since we last talked, I’m sure you know. However, I don’t want you to take that as a bad thing. I just take it as a wakeup call. I do want to thank you fo
r checking up on me. That made me smile when Patrice told me.”
Logan smiled at just hearing her say that.
“I would’ve been called, but I needed time to get my thoughts together.
“I understand,” Logan responded. “I’m just glad that you called.”
Felisha smiled. It was something about Logan that had her very intrigued. “I really would like to get to know you better. I’m just praying on some things right now while trying to figure others out. However, I would like to see you soon.”
“That sounds perfect to me.” Logan said in an eager tone. “Just let me know when.”
“I will,” Felisha responded.
“Oh and it was good to hear your voice.” He added.
Felisha smiled. “Likewise. I’ll talk to you later.”
Logan couldn’t stop smiling after the call was over. “Damn, she actually called.” He cheerfully said, but just that quickly his thoughts went back to Angel. He didn’t waste any time as he quickly called her. He sat there listening to the phone ringing. “Answer your phone, Angel. Please, answer your phone. I just want to know if you’re okay.”
***
Angel glanced down at her phone to see that Logan was calling her again for the umpteenth time. She wasn’t in the mood to hear nothing that anybody had to say. She was beyond frustrated and annoyed at how things had played out. Mark had really done a number on her and she was struggling with it. All she wanted to do was get rid of the pain as she looked over at Kenyan, a young drug dealer that she’d gotten connected with through a friend of hers name Larry that she used to work with.
Kenyan glanced over at her as he pulled out his scale. “Lil mama, now tell me again what it is that you want.” He said with furrowed eyebrows.
“Um,” Angel hesitated, and then out the blue she said. “I just wanna forget everything and say fuck it. I’m living my life for me now. I’m doing what the fuck I wanna do, not what people expect me to do.”
Kenyan was taken back at what had just come out of her mouth. She was a beautiful woman that he could tell was just broken. From the looks of things she was on a downward spiral going at a rapid speed to a point of no return. He was usually not into saving people from their addictions, but he had to say something to her about it. “Aye, you sure you wanna do this lil mama?” he questioned.
