A Sinful Little Gift

Page 4

by Kassandra Lea

For the time being, though, he focused on the little gift box sitting in his lap. A little something from Flynn, the demon leaving it on the bed before going out the door. No one had ever given him a Christmas gift before. He carefully peeled away the colorful paper to reveal a velvet box underneath. Popping it open revealed a necklace cushioned by more black velvet. Samuel pulled it out, chain between his fingers, the pendant swinging free in the air. He could tell instantly it was a custom piece.

A pitchfork with wings sprouting from the handle, a halo dangling from the center tine, all done in silver.

Samuel smiled. He slipped it on, loving the way it felt against his skin. He would, of course, have to keep it covered so as not to raise questions, but that would just mean feeling its presence every second of every day. He could deal with that. As a soft smile tugged at the corners of his mouth he stood. Once again he gazed skyward, an idea taking shape in his mind.

  He snapped his fingers.

“Merry Christmas, Flynn,” he muttered into the night.

  It began to snow.
