Miss Benson will be tickled pink to give a home to Jody, a refuge for a boy who, like her rescued animals, has done nothing to cause his own distress. Animals are renowned for their remarkable healing powers, so there’s hope for Jody’s quick recovery and the renewal of his education. He will make a very good lawyer after his own hair-raising experiences.
It seems appropriate that Faith Steadfast, the poet and thinker who gave such comfort to Irene Peacock and other house-bound mothers of that era, should have the last word.
