  Main Characters

Colt Mitchell – The oldest Mitchell cousin who lives in Kentucky, and is the only son to the eldest of the original Mitchell Brothers. His father owned and operated the largest cattle ranching facility in the state. Introduced in book one when he came to North Carolina to help his uncle (father’s brother) run his farm while his cousin Tyler was in a coma, after a near fatal car crash.

He fell in love with his cousin’s long-term girlfriend and that became the whole plot of the first book. He battled with right and wrong, finally giving into temptation and straining his relationship with his cousin, Tyler.

Colt and Savanna were eventually married in book three. After Savanna miscarried their first child, Colt discovered he had a son (Noah). They had two daughters after that (Christian and Addison). Colt is an old-fashioned and serious man, who thrives on his love for family and religion to get him through any part of life’s journey.

Even in the latter books he struggled with jealousy over his wife’s friendship with Tyler. The two friends never crossed any lines, but Colt still worried. It wasn’t until book seven where Colt finally understood that Savanna and Ty’s love for one another was part of their bond from being first childhood friends and then cousins by marriage, instead of something else.

Colt tells the story in books One, three, four and a half, and seven.

  Relationship to characters

Miranda & Conner Healy are his cousins. (Their mothers are sisters.)

Tyler Mitchell – cousin (Their fathers are brothers.)

Savanna (Van) Mitchell – Introduced in book one as the love interest to both Tyler and Colt, Savanna struggles with right and wrong and which man she’s destined to love. After falling head over heels for her boyfriend’s cousin in book one, she leaves North Carolina behind to start a future with Colt.

In the second book her friendship with her ex is tested, especially when he falls for someone close to her.

She’s kidnapped by Colt’s cousin Miranda’s lunatic ex-boyfriend in book three and held for ransom-tied up in a basement. At the time she’s pregnant and during an escape attempt she miscarries and kills her capturer, who happens to be her niece’s (Isabella) biological father (Tucker Chase).

In Book eight she discovers that she has breast cancer, while struggling with the relationship with her step-son Noah.

Throughout every book Savanna grows as a strong woman. She’s a major key to the family and the bond that they all share together. Not only does she continue to be close to her ex Tyler, but she’s also a best friend to his wife, Miranda and even her sister-in-law Amy.

Savanna tells the story in books One, Three, Four and a half, and Seven.

  Raging Love

  Blinding Trust

Savanna has no blood relation to any of the original characters. She is the wife of Colt Mitchell.

Tyler Mitchell – As a main character in book one, Tyler Mitchell was known as the cheating boyfriend that everyone loved to hate. His family owns and operates a farm in North Carolina. After waking from his coma, he was left without a girlfriend, job or future. It wasn’t until book two where he found love, starting with the birth of a young child (Isabella), and later turning into a relationship with Miranda Healy. Miranda, who is Colt’s cousin on his mother’s side, was no relation to Ty. It still didn’t keep their family from forbidding them to be together. When Miranda’s ex threatened her and the baby, she goes to stay with Ty to be safe. Their love was undeniable and to stay together they eloped. By the end of book two the family accepts them. New and old friendships are rekindled and the family feels complete in every aspect. This character tells the story in books two, four, four and a half, and nine.

  Relationship to characters

Colt Mitchell – Cousin (fathers are brothers)

He is not related to his wife, Miranda by blood. They only share a similar cousin, Colt, by both being related to him on different sides of his family. Growing up he and his wife considered each other cousins because they lived on the ranch with Colt. This was also a huge reason for their relationship being forbidden.

Miranda Healy (Mitchell) – This character is introduced at the very end of book one. Along side of Tyler, she tells the story in book two. It starts out explaining her failing relationship with her then boyfriend Tucker Chase. He’s a criminal that wants nothing to do with her or their child. After threats are made, she flees, falling right into the arms of her new best friend, Ty. By book four the couple is happy. Tucker Chase has died and they thought that their fears have ended. She’s found the perfect man that not only loves her, but also adores her daughter as if she were his own flesh and blood. After giving her his name they vow to take the secret to the grave. New threats come into play and to protect their child, they do something unthinkable. Miranda thinks that Ty has cheated on her and she leaves town, very pregnant. An accident on the road sends her into labor and she almost dies, along with her unborn twin boys. By book eight the couple has gotten away from the drama and trust issues. Instead it’s their daughter that has all of the problems. It starts out with her being sick and then finally the discovery of Ty not being her biological father. At the end of the day it’s the family that helps make everything right with the world. Miranda tells the story in books two, four, four and a half, and nine.

Colt Mitchell – Cousin (Mothers sisters)

  Conner Healy - Brother

Conner Healy – The brother of Miranda and first cousin to Colt, this character was once secondary, only being mentioned in book one at the end of the book. He’s a bigger character in the beginning of book two when he interferes with his sister’s (Miranda) love life.

He’s mentioned in book three because he works alongside of Colt on the ranch.

After being a huge part of book four and four and a half, where he risks his own happiness for his family, Conner gets the next two books, five and six. It follows the story of a drug abusing cowboy with no structure in his life, as he recovers and finds love with a married woman. Conner would do just about anything for his family, but even more for Amy. It takes them a while to admit it, but when they finally do there’s no denying it. They end up having four children together, three girls and one boy.

Conner tells the story for books five and six.

Amy’s story begins in the background of the other books, but is front and center in the fifth and sixth edition. Her struggles to get away from her husband (Rick) and finally be with Conner cause them to have two full books back to back. In their second edition Amy is pregnant and the family will do anything in their power to keep her safe, including sending them to Kentucky to stay. It didn’t stop her ex from hunting her down and holding her at gunpoint. He meets his demise on the Mitchell ranch when Heather (his mistress and Ty’s ex) shoots him to save Amy.

  Villains in the series

Heather – Was introduced in the first book as one of the college girls that Ty was sleeping around with. In book two she’s still attempting to win the affections of a newly single Tyler. Obviously he goes on to wed Miranda and they try to forget all about her. She runs into Ty a while after that in book four. He’s married and in awe of his wife and adopted daughter. To protect them from Isabella’s biological father’s family they turn to Heather’s brother for a forged paternity test. Heather forces Ty’s hand, and she uses extreme measures to break them up, causing Miranda to leave town, distraught and nine months pregnant with his twins. She gets into an accident and not only almost dies herself, but also the twins.

This character continues to cause problems for the Mitchell Family throughout the series, until she is punished and taught a lesson by Conner Healy, Miranda Mitchell’s brother, in book six. She ends up becoming the hero in that book when she saves Amy’s life by shooting and killing Rick. In book seven she runs into Savanna and through a common medical diagnosis they share a heartfelt moment.

After that Heather gets her own book (Eight) and readers finally find out why she did all of those terrible things to torture the family. In her book we learn that while she was trying to change her life around she fell in love with Rick’s (Amy’s Ex) son, Jesse. Together they had a son named Jacob. In book eight they finally stop fighting about the past and move forward with a future together, as a family. Heather gets her own book to tell her side of the story.

  Losing Him

Tucker Chase – This guy was Miranda’s boyfriend in book 2. He was a thug, who didn’t ever want to be a father to Miranda’s baby (Isabella). It was a good thing that Ty stepped in and became the father that she deserved. In book three Savanna is kidnapped and held for ransom. She loses her baby in a struggle and ends up killing Tucker while trying to get free.

Tucker’s mother- This woman shows her face in book three and four, after losing her son in the kidnapping episode with Savanna. She’s sets out to gain visitation of her granddaughter, causing Miranda and Ty to go to extreme measures to keep their daughter, including forging a paternity test and almost getting a divorce.

Rick – Was once married to Amy. His verbal and physical abuse was derived from his addiction to alcohol. We later learned that his past secrets included murder and betrayal. Rick dies in book six of the series, after holding Amy and Heather at gunpoint. He is survived by two children, one being Heather’s love interest Jesse.

Zeke – The brother of Noah’s (Colt’s oldest son) biological mother, Krista, is a rock star that comes back to town to get to know his nephew. He’s always known that Savanna was his step-mother, but this book destroys his love for the only woman who has raised him. While struggling with breast cancer, Savanna is faced with the fear of losing Noah. We later find out that Zeke only wanted to use Noah for publicity and never cared about the kid at all. Once his secret was exposed, he left town and Noah never tried to contact him again.

  Chapter 1

  Callie

Lightning crashes against the horizon, followed by the growl of a loud rumbling thunder, while the winds whip across the country fields bringing a light mist onto the covered porch. I’ve been sitting on the old wooden swing for more than an hour, drowning in despair, searching for a hint of happiness within reach.

It’s difficult to grasp how animosity has gotten me to the this point, sullen and heartbroken. I’m lost and lonely, betrayed and untrusting. They didn’t do this on purpose, but the damage still ends with the same resolve. I’m unable to look at them, to hold their precious baby in my arms and not see a future that should have been mine.

I’ve been biting my tongue, fixated on keeping the peace for the families sake. It’s disheartening knowing that a mere hint of irritation will cause tension where it doesn’t belong. It's easier to remain silent than to let my true emotions show a presence. I don't want to hurt them, especially my sister Cammie. She's suffered enough. I can't burden her with my absolved feelings or have some desperate last ditch attempt at raging a war that will never have resolution. In order to keep the peace within my family I've had to distance myself from certain people, and I'm getting to the point where I'm tired of running from the constant reminders.

In hindsight I know this is how it should've ended, yet it agitates me to know it was done behind my back, while I desperately threw myself in front of a bus to capture the attenti
on of a man who wanted nothing to do with me.

They fell so fast. Maybe that's what has me hung up. One minute my sister arrived in town and the next she's in bed with the guy I’d been trying to start a relationship with. I can only imagine how desperate I appeared while fawning over him like a lovesick puppy. It’s quite an embarrassment to have to face them and know that.

The pregnancy was a shock to us all, especially when it was discovered the child had been fathered by her married professor who'd basically been the reason she dropped out of school. You'd think the baggage she carried would deter any man from wanting to have a future with her, but not Wes. He jumped right in, as if nothing else mattered than to care for poor misunderstood Cammie.

If I sound jealous it's because I am. There are four of us Healy children. I have two sisters, Cassie and Cammie, then a brother Josh. Out of them all I was closest to Cammie. Not long ago we shared everything. Now I wouldn't trust her to hold a glass of sweet tea for me. Our bond was broken the moment I discovered she'd stolen someone right from under me.

My brother says I'm being ridiculous. I've even made it appear like it's water under the bridge. I spend time with my sister and the baby, putting on a happy face and pretending we've gotten through the worst of it. It's not until I'm alone when I'm enraged with pent up frustrations. I hate it when they smile at each other. I can't stand how they're planning a wedding. She's overjoyed with the prospect of being a real family, while I'm left watching my one way ticket out of this town walk down the aisle with my sister.

Today was an exact representation of why I need to get the hell out of dodge. We'd gotten up bright and early to meet some cousins at the airport. Christian and her sister Addison have flown in to go dress shopping. Since they live in Kentucky, and our ranch is located in North Carolina, we have to plan ahead when preparing for large gatherings. The wedding is still months away, but everyone is already making a huge deal about it. My mom, Amy Healy, is overjoyed at the idea of Cammie and our brother Josh's childhood best friend, Wes, tying the knot. She and my father, Conner, were more pleased to know the baby would have two married parents that loved each other. Wes wants to raise the child as his own. She’ll call him Daddy, and never have to know the vial monster that planted his seed in her mother.
