His control close to breaking point, he tore her from him and hauled her to her feet. Anna squealed in surprise as he picked her up and placed her heavily on the dip in the wall. He claimed her mouth, coaxing her to draw her legs about his hips. Aware of the steep drop behind her, Niall wrapped his arms around her, holding her secure in his embrace.

Her sweet heat beckoned and he explored her entrance as she bucked against him. With a curse and one swift plunge, he filled her to the hilt, drawing a sharp cry from her. The feeling of her clenching around him shuttered out any common sense and the realisation of having just found his soul mate fisted almost painfully at his heart.

The world came into focus slowly as they both adjusted to the feel of each other and he noted Anna’s stricken face. He kissed her tenderly, cursing his impatience.

  “Did I hurt ye?”

  “Nay…aye…a little…it’s just that…”

  “Ye love me.”

  “Aye.”

“I think I love ye too, lass.”

She grinned and kissed him, a kiss full of passion and love, and he began to shift against her. Anna gripped at his neck, eagerly pressing onto him. He plunged slowly at first but it was not long until his need for her overtook him once more and he began to rock faster, taking her harder and deeper with each thrust.

Anna met each thrust with her hips, gripping him with her legs, the rhythm seeming to overtake her just as it did him. They panted and cried out as their bodies slammed together, the friction becoming increasingly intense. Driving himself into the tight warmth, he kissed frantically at her as her head fell back, her face a picture of pleasure. With several more lunges, he felt her tighten around him and she cried his name as she shattered in his arms. He came almost immediately, gripping her tightly as the searing release shook him to his core.

Burying his head in the crook of her neck, he lovingly kissed at her damp neck as she trembled beneath him. Niall hoped it was the after-effects of her climax and not the chill of the night that was causing her to shake. Lord knows, his own legs were quaking.

He grinned to himself. Trust him to fall in love with a Mackenzie woman, one that had hated him on sight at that. She would make a formidable wife and he suspected life would never be dull with Anna at his side.

Niall helped Anna to her feet as he reluctantly retreated from her, and swiftly picked up his discarded plaid, throwing it around her shivering shoulders. Heedless of his own nudity, he spread out her plaid and coaxed her to lie with him. Bundled together, their body heat quickly warmed them and Anna instinctively curled into him.

Niall brushed a kiss across her nose, absently fingering a dark curl. “Ye think ye can stand me in yer bed more than once a month?” he asked teasingly.

“Aye, I expect I can manage.”

“Ack, lassie, donnae ye know yer meant to compliment a man after bedding him?”

She smacked playfully at his arm. “Ye need no compliments, ye fool. Ye know well enough what a fine job ye did.” She considered him seriously for a moment. “Ye love me? Already?”

“Aye. Already. Ye must be a witch for I donnae how but ye captured my heart.”

“Then how is it that ye’ve captured mine?”

  “Sinclair charm,” he responded easily.

Anna rolled her eyes. Somehow he had stolen her heart with his arrogant charm. Mayhap they were always intended for one another. Their fathers were certainly wiser than they were. She would always remain a Mackenzie, and she knew Niall would never make her be anything else, but with Niall at her side they could forge a new peace between the clans.

The sunlight began to flicker over the horizon, announcing the arrival of the next day as it bathed them in an amber glow. Anna sighed. She wished heartily that this moment would never end. Niall leant over and gave her a sweet, lingering kiss, sealing her wish that they could lay there forever.

Anna was too absorbed in the taste of Niall to notice the creak of the door or the two men that came to stand over them. It was only when their shadows fell across their entwined bodies did Niall and Anna pause to see what it was. Both of them followed the great trunks of legs, squinting to make out the features of the intruders.

Anna squealed and buried herself into his chest in embarrassment as she recognised her father, his expression a mixture of surprise and satisfaction. Laird Sinclair merely grinned.

Niall shook his head with a groan, burying his head against Anna’s hair. “Ack, now I’ll definitely have to marry ye.”
