“Brilliant. Masterful. Why aren’t these hanging in a gallery or on your walls?”
“I knew when I painted them they weren’t for me. I painted this one for Etta. And I knew I needed to paint a second one, but had no inkling I would have two daughters.”
“So many emotions in these images.” Tony commented.
“Yes.” Mim said satisfactorily, “It’s how I see love.”
“That’s how love should be.” Tony reached for her hand, “I’m going to miss you.”
“Oh, I’ll miss you too, Darlin’.” Mim cooed back to him absentmindedly.
“Why do I get the feeling that you’re just waiting for me to leave?”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” she ran her fingers through her bobbed hair avoiding his eyes, “Okay, you distract me.” She finally looked at his face, “ I have a lot to do in a short time and when you’re here all I want to do is be next to you.” She put her arms around him and squeezed, pulling him toward the door to his loaded car.
“We’ll have to work it out.” Tony announced, “Because, when I come back, I won’t be leaving.”
The kiss he planted on her lips buzzed sweetly, momentarily distracting Mim from the urge to run and lock her front door.
Hi You;
Thanks for reading my debut novel, Broad Street Goddesses. Paige, Etta and Mim all became my friends as I conjured them up to tell you this story. I procrastinated finishing the manuscript because I didn’t want to say goodbye to them. I still feel that Georgia, Patti and Mim have more stories to tell and as I work to publish this book I am continuing the saga, plotting book two and three of the Broad Street Goddesses saga.
In 2009 I answered my own call of the red dirt as four generations of family roots drew me home to Nevada County, California. Something magical happens when I’m here. My creativity blossoms and I feel surrounded by inspiration. The houses and businesses I’ve created for this book are fictional in a very real town. This is my love story to Nevada City.
I live in my family home in the historic area of Grass Valley Ca. with my retired husband who fishes and our two rescue dogs, Barnaby and Bodie who adore him. Surrounded by my crazy, lovable family, most days you can find me bare footed, covered in paint or happily clicking away creating a new story.
