A Tiny Zagan was Discovered
Zagan found himself in quite a predicament. Due to the failure of a certain sorcery, his body was reduced to that of a child. He may have been able to use the mana gathered in his throne room to regain his original form, but...
“Oh my, Master Zagan. Here you are!”
Nephy caught me right away! The moment he opened the door to the throne room, he found Nephy waiting for him. Apparently, she came by to call him for breakfast. Zagan turned around immediately, and Nephy stiffened up completely as a result. Even if he regressed to the body of a ten-year-old, his villainous countenance and baggy robes hadn’t changed at all, so he gave off the same vibe as ever. And so, the two of them froze and were unable to move at all for a while.
“Um... where did you come from, little boy?” Nephy broke the silence first as she asked that question. She seemed nervous, and was pale all the way to the tips of her ears, but was trying her best to speak anyway.
“U-Uh, I’m, uh...! This ruined castle looked all pretty, so I just kinda...!”
“I-It is rather beautiful, isn’t it!? Still, it’s rather dangerous here, so why not come a little closer?”
This was an Archdemon’s castle, so there were a fair number of traps that reacted to outsiders. It would be have been odd if Zagan ignored her, so he gave in and walked toward Nephy. And when he did, she suddenly hugged him tightly.
“Mmm! You’re so cute like this, Master Zagan!” Nephy squealed as she grabbed on to him. Then, she even went as far as rubbing her cheek against his, which was practically unimaginable given her usual reserved behavior.
“What? Hey! Y-You noticed, Nephy?”
“Of course. I would never mistake you for someone else, Master Zagan. Still, why are you like this?”
“Um, well... Hey, hold on. Why are you carrying me?”
“I do not know the circumstances... but I imagine Miss Gremory is involved somehow. The fact that you came here despite being like this means you have something to do in the throne room, correct?”
Zagan was completely taken aback by how she saw through his entire thought process at a single glance. And, as he got lost in thought, Nephy carried Zagan all the way up to the throne and plopped herself down on it with him on her lap.
“Uh, Nephy? I don’t think we need to sit on the throne together...”
“What are you saying!? Don’t you see that I have to protect you from any possible danger!?”
Despite how ominous her words sounded, Nephy had a huge smile plastered on her face.
“Be honest, Nephy... Do you just want to cuddle?”
“Oh my... I cannot hide anything from you, Master Zagan...”
“...Aren’t you being a bit of a bully today, Nephy?”
“I am simply returning the favor.”
Zagan remained cradled in Nephy’s lap until Gremory returned... and for some time after.
The Two Adopted Girls
The two girls met on a sandy beach. They were dressed in swimsuits.
I wonder what’s going on? This person smells like Father... Foll looked up from the sand castle she was making and sniffed the air. She had been at the bottom of the ocean for two weeks, so she hadn’t been able to smell this girl even though they had met down there. After a little while, the first to break the ice between them was Kuroka.
“Um, you’re Mister... Zagan’s daughter, right?”
“Mm. And you’re Chastille’s subordinate? Why do you smell like Raphael?”
“I’m Kuroka. Lord Raphael is, um, how to put it... H-He’s my father!”
“Huh!? Raphael has a daughter!?” Foll’s eyes shot open in surprise.
“Oh, um, I’m not really his daughter, he just kind of took care of me... How do I explain this...”
“...I see. You’re adopted, huh? Then you’re like me,” Foll commented, then puzzling over something for a while and asked, “Raphael’s daughter... What do I call you?”
“Oh... uh... how about... Big Sis, maybe?”
“Hm... Do you want to make a sandcastle with me, Big Sis?”
“Hnnngh, so cute... I can see why those two dote on you so much...” Kuroka said as she staggered and gripped her chest due to Foll’s answer. Then, she began helping Foll with her castle. She was blind, but managed to use the tips of her fingers and the point of the shortsword she drew from her cane to apply delicate details to the castle. Foll didn’t want to fall behind, and so she started to arrange the front of the castle with her little shovel.
“What’s Raphael like around you, Big Sis?”
“He’s kind, and a little awkward sometimes, but he’s a warm, caring father. How about you, Foll?”
“Mm. Raphael is kind. He gives me tasty treats and pets my head. I like him.”
“Eheheh. I see... He’s also extremely strong and cool...” Kuroka’s said as her cat ears twitched about in joy as if she was the one being praised.
“I like you too, Big Sis. Thanks for helping with the castle.”
“Hnnngh... N-No, thank you for inviting me. I, um, like you a lot too, Foll.”
They were both saved by the same old man, which gave birth to an oddly powerful bond. And before long, they finished their splendid sandcastle together.
