Sherae wanted to say something smart but she knew Deonte would have cut into her if she would have. She hated the fact that Kaiah was back because she was just getting Deonte where she wanted him. But she just tucked her tail in between her legs and left out the room.

Synai sighed. “Okay, I know you two are wondering what is wrong with me or what would make me want to do something like that, but I just need you two to promise me that when I tell you that you won’t lose your minds and do something stupid. Especially you,” she said to Deonte.

  “I won’t,” Kaiah said.

  “It all depends,” Deonte said.

Synai knew there was no point in trying to get him to agree with it because he was born hotheaded so she just went ahead and told them everything about how she lost her virginity and how Richard disappeared after that. “Well, last night I received a text from a out of town number. The text was some website so I clicked on the link and there was a video of me losing my virginity on a porn website. I started getting notifications on Facebook about me being the newest porn star and calling me a video hoe and stuff like that. I was so humiliated and embarrassed. Well I still am,” Synai admitted.

Both Kaiah and Deonte were fighting their inner demons that was telling them to fuck somebody up but Synai already said that the boy had disappeared so that was going to be hard to do.

“Synai look, I have some people that I know that can help get that video taken down and banned,” Kaiah said. “I told you that you can come and talk to me about anything and I’m sure your brother feels the same way. If this boy was pressuring you, you should have told us.”

“I know but I didn’t want you two to think I was trying to be hot in the ass or anything. You know Deonte put me on birth control the day after I started my period.” Synai rolled her eyes.

“Really Synai, you know me and Shauntez would have fucked that lil nigga up. I already told you a while back that I would be sitting in prison happy as hell for putting somebody six feet under for doing something to you,” Deonte said. He was mad that he hadn’t been paying more attention to his sister. In a way he felt like this was his fault.

Kaiah felt a little pressure in her stomach so she put her hand on her stomach. Both Synai and Deonte looked at her. “You alright?” Deonte asked.

“Um yea,” Kaiah said as she got up. “Synai I will be back to check on you later,” she said as she gave her a hug.

“Alright Kay Kay, I love you.”

“I love you too baby girl,” Kaiah said as she reached in her purse and grabbed the divorce papers and ultrasound. She wasn’t even going to give him his walking papers today but seeing Sherae in here and them two being hugged up ignited something in her so she said ‘fuck it’. She gave him the papers and walked out of the room.

When she gave him the papers, the ultrasound fell on the ground so he bent down to pick it up. When he realized what it was he smiled brightly. She’s having my seed, he thought as he looked at the papers and frowned when he noticed the word divorce. He pulled out his phone to call her but she had already turned her phone off so his call was going to voicemail. Deonte was pissed. “Kaiah answer the fucking phone or call me back!” he yelled into the phone before hanging up.

  “What’s wrong?” Synai asked.

“Nothing lil bit, nothing at all.”

It was the day of Kalise’s funeral and there wasn’t a dry eye in the church. Kalise was truly a loved woman. Kaison held on to Angel’s hand throughout the whole service and even when it was over, he refused to let her hand go. After the funeral, Kaison told everyone to meet up at Senior and Dolly’s house because he had something he wanted to show them.

On the ride to his surprise, he looked over at Angel and smiled. An angel she truly is, he thought to himself. “Angel, you know I love you right?”

“Of course and I love you too.” She smiled.

“I’m happy that you’re carrying my second daughter and have been by my side through it all and never left,” he said as he pulled up to a building out in Miami Beach. “And to show you just so much how I appreciate you, I wanna show you something.”

He got out of the car and opened the door for her, kissing her belly before helping her get out the car. Everyone else was standing outside wondering what was going on. He grabbed her and walked her to the front door if the building where Kaiah and Keymani was standing.

  "Surprise!" they yelled.

Angel gasped. It was something she had always dreamed of, her own beauty shop. She put her hands up to her mouth as the tears fell. Keymani ran over to her and hugged her belly. "Don't cry, we want you to be happy."

"Baby, I am happy. This is so beautiful," she said. "And I know exactly what I want to name it."

  "What?" everyone asked.

  "Kalise's Angel." She smiled.

"That's beautiful," Kaison kissed her. "Just like you."

"When? How? Why?" Angel asked confused.

"Kaiah told me about you completing cosmetology school and becoming a licensed beautician a few months ago and we both agreed that you should put it to use. Plus, we both know how much you love hair so I wanted to do something special for you but of course my Doublemint twin helped me out." He smiled.

"You two are just too much. What would I do without you?" She smiled.

"Thank God you'll never have to find out because we're not going anywhere. Ain't that right, Duke?" Kaiah asked.

"Sho ya right," Kaison said and everyone started laughing.

"Are we going to be able to get a tour of the salon or something?" Senior asked.

"Sure Pops, y'all come on," Kaison said.

Deonte took that as the perfect opportunity to talk to Kaiah since, once again, she was ignoring him. When she was walking away, he lightly grabbed her wrist. "Let me holla at you for a minute."

  "Now?" she asked.

"Naw tomorrow, yea now," he said as he led her outside to his car. He placed his hand on her stomach and she thought about slapping it away but she decided against it. She knew that he was just as excited about this baby as she was, maybe even more. He had been through some things when it came down to babies, from his ex's unexpected abortions to her ectopic pregnancy.

"How far along are you?" he asked because she wasn't even showing. If he hadn't seen the ultrasound with her name on it, he wouldn't believe that she was pregnant.

  "Three months," answered Kaiah.

"You keeping it, right?" He was almost scared to ask.

"Of course. I wouldn't have even told you if I wasn't planning on keeping it."

"Just checking." He shrugged. "But um, let's talk about that other thing."

  "You mean the divorce?"

"Yea, that shit. You serious about that shit?" he asked.

"Yes I am, Deonte. I think we rushed into this marriage thing a little too fast. We weren't even together a whole year before we said 'I do'. We both had some personal issues that we never got resolved and those issues spilled over into our marriage," Kaiah explained.

"What issues? So what you don't love me no more?"

"Your cheating, and it's pretty clear that you’re not over Sherae. Me and my alcoholism that was starting to get out of control. Just because I want a divorce doesn't mean that I don't love you anymore. Sure, I love you but the love is not the same." Kaiah was trying to get him to understand where she was coming from.

"Kaiah, how many times do I have to tell you that I'm not worried about Sherae and I only cheated one time?" Deonte expressed. He was not just about to let Kaiah walk away from this marriage like that. He said till death do them part and that's exactly what he meant.

"Correction, you cheated multiple times but it was only one woman that I know of, and I can't tell that you’re not worried about Sherae because she's always there. You don't even have the decency or respect to put her in her place and tell her to respect our marriage. That's what makes me think y'all got something going on."

"So basically what you're telling me
is that you're going to let her come and fuck up what we got going?" asked Deonte.

  "You already did that, stupid."

"Kaiah, don't try to put this shit all on me. Remember you fucked another nigga on me too!"

Just the mere mention of Shemar stirred up some emotions in Kaiah. She still believed in her gut that Deonte had something to do with Shemar's murder. "Did you do it?" asked Kaiah.

  "Do what?"

"Don't fucking play dumb with me, Deonte! Are you responsible for Shemar's murder?" she asked with her hands on her hips.

"That nigga dead? And you have the nerve to ask me if I did the shit?" Deonte asked, offended. One, because Kaiah was questioning him about the nigga she fucked while they were together and two, because she thinks that he would actually kill him.

  "Answer my fucking question Deonte."

"What if I did? That would make us even, right?"

"What are you talking about?" Kaiah asked as candy apple red Benz drove past them and slowed down. It was making her have a flashback of when Sammy was still alive and stalking her, but she shook it off knowing that her daddy and Uncle made sure he was dead.

"Don't play dumb now," Deonte said, pulling her from her thoughts. "Remember Naomi and what you did to her?"

"That bitch was mad disrespectful and got what she deserved. Besides, don't try to pin this off on me," she said as her phone rang. It was Natalia calling her from the mansion. "What's up Nati?"

"Casha is here and trying to get in. Emilio and the boys are about to handle her," Natalia said.

"Tell them to do what they gotta do but don't get their hands dirty," Kaiah said before hanging up.

"That's another one of your problems, you're always worried about them damn hoes!" Deonte expressed.

"Those hoes make me a lot of money and they get paid to be hoes. Shit, maybe I should put you on payroll and see how much money you would make me. At least then you'll have a reason to be a slut." Kaiah rolled her eyes.

"So I'm a slut now?" Deonte laughed.

"Does a duck quack? Look, I don't have time for this shit," Kaiah said as she walked away. "Don't call me unless it has something to do with Synai or Shauntez and I won't call you unless it had something to do with my child. Oh, and sign those papers for me."

"I'm not signing shit and were not done talking about this," Deonte called out to her.

He was tired of her always running away when shit got tough. Whenever things didn't go her way she would get mad and get gone. Personally, he was tired of it.

It was the grand opening of Angel’s salon, better known as Kalise’s Angels in remembrance of Kalise. Of course, it was only right for Kaison to be there to show her some love, plus he wanted to keep an eye on her to make sure she wasn’t working too hard considering she is almost six months pregnant.

“Girl, this shit is hot!” Kaiah said as she hugged Angel.

“Thank you Kay Kay. I was so nervous but everything is working out way better than I expected. I didn’t think this many people would show up.” Angel smiled. She was happy that she had actually accomplished something in her life. She went from living on the streets, to selling her body, to being a business woman, a pregnant one at that.

“Oh, come here Angel. I want to show you my home girl I was talking about, she’s cool as hell,” Kaily said as she pulled Kaiah and Angel over to her friend. “Excuse me Miss Thang,” she said.

“Heyyy boo!” Neicey smiled as she hugged Kaily.

“Neicey, I want you to meet my sisters, Kaiah and Angel. Ladies, this is Reneice but she goes by Neicey.”

“Hello ladies,” Neicey spoke. “How far along are you?” she asked Angel.

“Six months, and I’m nervous as hell,” Angel admitted.

“It must be your first one?” Neicey asked.

“Yes and it might be my last because baby daddy over there won’t let me do anything.” Angel nodded her head in the direction of where Kaison was posted up on the wall watching her like a hawk.

Neicey laughed. “Girl, don’t feel bad, my youngest just turned three and my oldest is 19 now. Mykell was something else with Kamora, you would have thought that I was crippled or something.”

  “Oh God,” Angel groaned.

“Don’t be like that boo, it just means that he really cares about the wellbeing of you and his child,” Neicey said as her phone rang. “Speaking of, here goes my warden now. Nice meeting you ladies and Angel, this will not be your last time seeing me.”

"Thank you for coming," Angel smiled.

"No doubt boo," Neicey said before walking away.

Angel put her hand on her stomach because she was still having problems with Braxton Hicks. They weren't as bad as before and they came and went.

  "You alright?" Kaily asked.

"Yea, I just need to sit down for a minute," Angel said.

"It doesn't look like you have a choice because Kaison is on his way over here." Kaiah snickered.

  "Just my luck," Angel mumbled.

"Alright, that's enough standing for today. Go sit ya ass down in the office," Kaison said.

"But Kaison, I have to be out here to greet the people and answer some questions. This is the grand opening and I am the owner," Angel whined.

"I love you Angel but I'm going to have to agree with Duke on this one," said Kaiah. "There's nothing wrong with getting off your feet for a minute, especially if you're in pain. Being pregnant ain't no joke," she said as she subconsciously put her hands up to her stomach.

"You need to sit down somewhere too, I don't need you stressing out my niece or nephew,” said Kaison as he led them to Angel's office.

"What?" both Kaily and Angel said.

"Oops, I didn't tell y'all?" Kaiah smirked. "You two are going to be aunties."

  "Oh my gosh!" Angel squealed.

"I should beat you down for not telling me," Kaily laughed as she hugged her. "How far along are you?"

  "Three months." Kaiah smiled.

"Congratulations, welcome to the pregnant club," laughed Angel.

Kaiah was about to say something until her phone starting ringing. "Hello?"

  "Hey Kaiah, this is Anthony."

"Hey Anthony what's up? Casha doesn't work for me any more so--"

Anthony cut her off. "No, that's not why I'm calling. Someone just dropped a video off here at the precinct claiming to have witnessed your husband killing someone."

Kaiah jumped up out her seat, alerting her siblings. "Who brung in the video and who did he supposedly kill?" she asked, fearing the worst. She was hoping he didn't say who she thought that he was about to say.

"Well we have to keep the name of person that brought in the supposed evidence confidential, but she's claiming he killed a Shemar Kyles," Anthony said.

Kaiah's heart dropped down to her stomach. She knew he did it but she wanted to at least give him the benefit of the doubt. She didn't want to actually believe that her husband was that cruel and would kill Shemar over an innocent lunch date. "So what now? Are they going to arrest him?"

"Well, they're in there reviewing the footage right now. Then they will most likely have a warrant for his arrest drawn up," Anthony informed her.

"Thank you so much for calling me Anthony, but I need to call him a lawyer right now."

"No problem, I just thought you should know because I didn't want you to be blindsided."

"I appreciate it," she said before hanging up. Her mind was all over the place. She dialed up Keith's number immediately. "Keith, I need you to meet me at my husband’s house as soon as possible."

"I'm on my way now," Keith said.

After Kaiah hung up from him, all eyes were in her. "I have to get to Deonte like now. The police are about to draw up a warrant for his arrest for murder," Kaiah said as she rushed out of the office.

  * * *

Deonte had just made it in the house with Synai from taking her to one of her therapy sessions. She was doing a whole lot better, especially since Ka
iah came through and had one of her friends that knew how to hack computers go in and delete as well as block that video from ever being seen or put up again.

"What you want to eat, lil bit?" Deonte asked his sister.

  "Surprise me," she replied.

They heard a key turning in the lock and assumed it was Shauntez until Kaiah walked in followed by Keith. "What's wrong?"

"You lied to me Deonte," Kaiah said.

  "About what?" he asked, confused.

Keith stepped up to talk. "The police could be here any minute now with a warrant to arrest you in the murder of Mr. Shemar Kyles."

Deonte's eyes traveled to his sister then they fell on his wife. He knew he was in some shit but that didn't compare to the looks of hurt they both wore on their faces. "Alright," was the only thing he said.

"When they get here, you don't have to say anything. They will take you down to the station to question but since Kaiah hired me to be your lawyer, I will be in there with you. You don't have to answer any questions that you don't want to," Keith instructed.

  "Okay, I hear you."

No sooner than the words left his mouth, there was a loud knock at the door. "Police, open up!"

Kaiah walked over to the door and opened it. "We're looking for a Deonte Smith."

"I'm right here," Deonte said as he pulled Kaiah back from the door.

An officer stepped up with handcuffs in his hands. "Deonte Smith, you are under arrest for the murder of Shemar Kyles," he said as he put the cuffs on him and read him his rights. Deonte kept his head down so he wouldn't see the looks of disappointment on Synai and Kaiah's faces.

Deonte sat in the interrogation room with Keith by his side. He was trying to figure what the fuck he did to end up in this situation. He had done some shit in his life, busted his guns, slung some dope, but he had never been inside a damn jail.

He made sure he stayed clean in everything he did. This shit wasn't even him though. It was no secret that he didn't like Shemar but he didn't have to go as far as killing him when he had already beat his ass.
