Love Will Find You

Katie pinched her arm. “Ouch!” She was certainly awake. Looking around, she wasn’t sure what to think of the last five minutes. The sound of the front door made her listen to his movements. Then there was the slamming of a car door and, with a heavy sigh, she threw herself back onto the pillow.

  Damn it!

She was ready to let the tears flow again, when she heard the door and steps down the hall

And a few curses from Sarah.

With his long legs, it took him only a few moves to get to her bed. What she didn’t expect was that he got onto the bed, grabbed her hand, and pulled her back into sitting position. He wrapped his arm around her midriff, pulled her in closer, and touched her lips with his. It was a kiss full of hunger, yet surprisingly gentle. Katie drank in the sweetness of his kiss and hoped to God she wasn’t dreaming.

Her blood was still pounding in her brain when he moved back.

With a finger under her chin, he lifted her head up and said, “Sweetheart, you’re not dreaming, okay!”

Dazed, she simply stared at him.

With a gentleness she only knew from him, he slid a beautiful diamond ring on her finger. “Will you marry me?” he asked again.

She gazed at the ring. The small diamond sparkled on her finger. The impeccable workmanship was breathtaking. The tears she’d held back before now slipped down her cheeks. She choked back a laugh. “Please, do not let me dream this.”

His lips touched the top of his nose. “I love you, Katie.”

A sigh escaped her. “I love you, too,” she whispered. “I swear to God, if this is a dream, I’ll—”

Except, she wasn’t able to finish her sentence as he gently eased her down onto the bed and started to show her how much he loved her for the rest of the night.

“Katie,” he whispered against her skin. “You’re the most amazing woman I know. I want you to be mine for the rest of my life.”

Letting out a little squeal when the medal touched her naked skin, she finally said, “Yes.”

She kissed him back and whispered a couple more yeses until his amazing hands made her surrender to his touch.
