The Alpha Pack

Was that too much to ask?

“I’m sorry,” he said. “I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”

David sighed again, but as he shook his head he was smiling.

“Trust me, we all like that you want us to fuck you. But getting knotted six days a week is enough. Besides, learning some restraint is good for you. Now please: either stop distracting me or go do something else.”

“Like what?” Sam asked. The rest of the pack was downstairs watching football on the TV. While Sam liked watching Jack practice, that was where his interest in football began and ended.

“Read a book, watch TV, go shopping…” David suggested. “Whatever you want. That’s the whole point of this being your day.”

“Are you mad at Aiden?” Sam asked, the question just popping out. He hadn’t heard the conversation between David and the twins, but he knew what it was about. The twins had come by and updated him before heading down to talk to the rest of the pack.

David blinked, looking thrown by the question.

  “No. Why?”

Sam just looked at him, and David huffed.

“Fine, I’m disappointed. They’re both smart, and they would be amazing assets to the company. But they need to do what makes them happy.”

Sam nodded. He was glad David saw it that way.

“Why don’t you call your friend Sarah?” David asked, changing the subject. “Ask her to go see a movie or something?”

Sam perked up. He met up with Sarah every Tuesday and Wednesday, but it had been awhile since he had seen her on the weekend.

“That’s a good idea,” he said, leaning in and giving David a chaste kiss on the mouth. The alpha tasted like peppermint mouthwash, which made Sam feel inordinately fond. “I’ll see you at dinner.”

“See you,” David said, his voice soft and happy.

Sam walked back to his room and called Sarah, arranging to meet up at the mall in an hour so that they could catch a movie together. Looking at himself in the mirror, he wrinkled his nose at the tightness of his pants and the way his shirt clung to his torso.

He was wearing the clothes he’d bought on his first Sunday out with Jack, and looking at them now he wondered how he’d ever thought that they fit him. Then again, he thought with a wicked grin aimed at his reflection, they worked wonders when he wanted to drive his alphas crazy.

But that wasn’t his goal now. David had shot him down, so Sam changed into a loose pair of jeans and a comfortable t-shirt that didn’t fit him like a second skin.

Feeling far more comfortable, he headed out.

As he rode the elevator down, money in his wallet and a car waiting for him on the curb, he reflected on how lucky he was.

It would have been so easy for the pack to treat him poorly.

Instead, they satisfied his every sexual need and gave him more love and encouragement than he’d ever hoped to receive. Just thinking about it made his chest feel tight and happy.

Walking out of the lobby, his head held high and a smile on his face, he wondered what he’d ever done to get this lucky.
