His hand clasped Vlad’s neck over the shrieking dryad’s head. His stoic expression turned into a smirk that danced with the glint in his eyes. The suit pulled taut across his shoulders, threatening to break along the seams.
Vlad begged, clawing at Orion’s grip.
Without a word, Orion shoved the flickering ball of fire down the vampire’s neck.
Unable to turn away, everyone quietly watched as the fire consumed him. His pale flesh cracked and darkened. Purple lines of fire rolled along the fractures, and the husk of the man turned to ash, dropping upon the woman trapped beneath Vlad’s final resting place.
Orion blew the soot from his hand and pulled a handkerchief from his jacket pocket with the other. He wiped the dust from his hand before passing the sullied fabric to the lady. He slipped his hands into his pants pockets. With a smile, he asked, “Any more objections?”
