Tyler turned to face him as they made it to the bedroom, grabbing his hips and pulling him onto the bed as he fell backwards. “Been thinking about this”, he whispered into William’s ear as he ran his hand under William’s shirt and up the side of his chest. His hands felt warm and solid over William’s skin and William shivered. He pushed Tyler’s shirt up so he could touch more of his skin, breaking their kiss so Tyler could pull it off over his head. William had seen Tyler shirtless before, but not like this, under him and breathing heavily, his skin with a light sheen of sweat and there to be touched. His cock throbbed, his jeans suddenly far too tight. He glanced down, seeing the outline of Tyler, hard inside his jeans as well. “Can I?” he asked, his hands hovering over Tyler’s belt buckle.

“God, yes. Fuck”, Tyler shimmied up the bed, hooking his thumbs under the waistband and helping William to pull his jeans down.

“Why are these so tight? Jesus.”

“You never seemed to mind before”, said Tyler, which was true, William agreed foggily. His hands were at his own waist now, unzipping his fly and tugging the denim down from his hips. He moved up the bed, pressing the length of his body against Tyler, lying at his side and pulling him in to kiss him. He could feel Tyler’s cock pressed against his own through his boxers, the friction good and hot and not-quite-enough. His skin was slick with his own sweat and Tyler’s, and he could feel Tyler’s hand running up the side of his thigh, then between them to stroke William’s cock through his underwear. William let out a helpless moan as Tyler shoved down the waistband, running his hand up his length, his thumb collecting the bead of pre-cum pearling at the head.

Tyler rolled William onto his back and knelt over him then looked up, his eyes questioning.

“God, please”, William gasped. His eyes were locked on Tyler’s mouth, his lips glossy and full from kissing. He was so close already, god, every time Tyler touched him it felt like sparks of fire running across his skin. Tyler eased his boxers off, and settled himself between William’s thighs, looking up and holding his gaze as he took William’s cock in his mouth.

“Oh fuck, fuck”, William closed his eyes and threw his head back. Tyler’s mouth felt amazing and he knew if he watched he wasn’t going to last more than a minute, the image of Tyler’s lips stretched around his cock more than he could handle. Tyler hummed around him, his hand working the base, as he kept the pressure perfect, moving his mouth in time with his strokes. William could feel his orgasm building, the muscles though his thighs tightening and heat pooling in his groin. “Tyler, I’m going to-“ he gasped out. Tyler pulled off, stroking William with one hand and shoving his own boxers down with the other. His cock was hard and thick, and William watched Tyler stroking himself for about half a second before he started to come. He felt the waves of it spreading out through his body, his hearing temporarily receding to a low rumble as it ran through his body. Tyler stroked him through it, William coming across his own belly and Tyler’s hand.

He opened his eyes to stare at Tyler, kneeling above him and absently raising his hand to his mouth to taste a droplet of come that was streaked across his thumb. William moaned and his cock gave one last weak pulse at the sight. He sat up, pulling Tyler towards him for a kiss, licking into his mouth and reaching forward to wrap a hand around Tyler, their hands moving together. “Yes, yes, ah I’m gonna-“ Tyler gasped into his mouth and buried his head in William’s neck, biting lightly at his shoulder to stifle a cry. William felt the hot spatter land on his chest where he was curled in next to Tyler, and his thighs tighten around William’s hips, before he slumped forward, his head still curled in next to William’s neck.

“Fuck”, he said with feeling, the word somewhat muffled by his face being pressed against William’s shoulder.

William hummed a reply, his hand stroking up and down Tyler’s back, the sweat cooling on his skin.

“I’ll move in a second”, Tyler was still lying on top of him, the deadweight comforting.

“I’m not in a hurry. That was amazing. I’m not sure my legs will work just yet.”

Tyler pressed a quick kiss to the underside of his jaw where he was nestled in. “I think we might end up glued together if we fall asleep like this.” Tyler had a point; they were kind of disgustingly sticky.

“Five minutes”, he said, and Tyler huffed a noise of assent into the pillow.

  Epilogue

William sort of couldn’t believe how quickly the term had gone, but it was the final week of teaching already. He was making coffee in the kitchen, mentally running through a to-do list when Tyler came up behind him, sliding an arm around his waist. Even if it was shallow, it was nice dating someone a little taller than he was, if only for the spooning benefits. William leant back into the comforting warmth of Tyler’s chest.

“Good morning” said Tyler, pressing a kiss to the side of his head. “Busy day?”

“Mmm, a little. Last week of teaching, you know. How about you?” Tyler had finally let William see a few pages of the novel and, unsurprisingly, it was very good. He’d been hassling him about sending it out ever since.

“I thought I might, um-“ Tyler sounded shy in a way he hadn’t in a few weeks.

William spun around so he was facing Tyler. “What’s up?”

“I thought I might maybe move the bedrooms around today?” Tyler’s voice ended on an uptick, like he was unsure and asking for permission.

“Oh?” William was slightly confused. Tyler had been sleeping in his bed a few nights a week, since it was bigger.

“I thought. Um. I wanted- could we just sleep together in your bedroom for good now? Like. Like boyfriends.” Tyler spoke softly, like he was afraid of the answer.

“Are you asking me out?” said William, sounding delighted.

  “Yes.”

“Yes. Yes, I’d like that.” He tilted his head up to kiss Tyler, the coffee cooling and forgotten on the bench.

  Extra Sweet

It took Ben a while, but he is finally doing what he wants to do, far away from his controlling and disapproving mother. He’s studying music, and working in a coffeeshop, as well as completely failing to ever get a second date. Not that he wants second dates: at least that’s what he has been telling himself. His life is busy enough as it is, between his upcoming performance exam and his adversarial relationship with Tom, the coffeeshop’s most annoying regular customer.

“Good morning” said Tom, sounding as cheerful as Ben had felt a few minutes earlier.

“Morning to you too. What’ll it be?”

“Only a friendly conversation with my favourite barista, thanks”, Tom smiled. It showed his teeth but didn’t reach his eyes.

“No coffee?” asked Ben, “Not that there’s a lot of coffee in your usual orders”, he added, unable to resist the dig.

“No friendly conversation?” Tom, and to his credit, he made the disappointment sound genuine.

Ben was pretty sure the emotion coursing through his veins right now was hatred. “Off the menu today, I’m afraid. Someone forgot to put it on the last stock order and we’re fresh out.”

“That’s a shame. A frappe then, half mocha, half chai, two pumps of vanilla, one of caramel, cream on top, chocolate and cinnamon dusting.”

“In this weather?” Ben said, knowing already he was going to end up making an iced drink in freezing temperatures just to let Tom indulge his bizarre sweet tooth.

“The heart wants what it wants” said Tom, serenely.

“Five fifty” ground out Ben between his teeth, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the edge of the counter.

  Ben’s friend and co
-worker Jodie is intent on matchmaking, but after a string of failed first dates he begs her to stop trying to set him up. He’s avoiding his phone anyway, because his mother keeps ringing him: Ben’s little brother has ideas about moving to Elliot and somehow this is all his fault. Luckily, music is the one thing which comes pretty naturally, and Ben has been invited to be in some kind of portfolio for the college. He’s pretty sure Tom works for the music school, but it’s a big place and surely they won’t bump into each other, right? How bad can Ben’s luck possibly be?
