TEST RESULTS: Results show that Mr. Rafferty is showing very little sign of fully recovering from his state of mind, and it is feared that the Mr. Tickles personality will, one day, fully take over.

Note: Mr. Rafferty has escaped from the hospital and is on the run. On his capture, he will be brought back here, to Castell Hirwaun. Note add on the, 26/11/10.

DIAGNOSIS: Mr. Rafferty witnessed his mother kill his father and sister with a butcher knife in the guise of a clown. This would appear to be the link to Mr. Rafferty’s, Mr. Tickles’ personality. It was discovered that the mother suffered with extreme stress and paranoia, but was never treated.

MANAGEMENT PLAN: Electron-convulsive Treatment (ECT) – shock treatment. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Psychiatrist, Psychotherapy, Behaviour Therapy – including only speaking to one personality at a time to reinforce the desired and eliminate the undesired.

MEDICATION:Amphetamines, anticonvulsants – Vigabatrin, Ketamine, Corticosteroids, Anti-depressant – Prozac. Mood stabilisers – Lithium, Lamotgine. Olanzopine, Clozapine, Quetiapine, Resperidone

A history on white walls and the graphic art

Firstly, I’d like to say thanks. Thanks for buying this book. You are holding a book that has given me sleepless nights. Seriously. It’s the only book to have done this to me, too. Why? I hear you scream – Is it because of the filth? The blood and guts? The utter bizarreness? No, because all that shit is fucking cool. It’s everything I’d hope to see in a horror film or book.

So, what is it about this book that has kept my up at nights? It’s simple – the length of time in which it has taken this project to see the light of day. At the beginning, the comics (T.M.M, Santa Klaws and Hob’s), were meant to be there instead of the written passages. They were also meant to be lettered, so the reader would know what was going on.

After five years of waiting for this project to go to print, by the then publisher, I had all but given up hope on seeing White Walls out there. Christ, I was that hyped about the project at the time, I even had the cover art tattooed on my thigh.

What? You think I’m mad for doing it? Don’t you think it’s an epic cover?

Anyway, after reclaiming my rights from the publisher, along with the art and cover, I started submitting this bad boy – I have to admit, trying to pitch something like this wasn’t easy, even though I managed to hook a fair bit of interest early on.

Then Ravenswood Publishing walked into my life, along with the lovely Kitty Honeycutt. She could see the potential in this project and put the wheels in motion immediately, after hearing the history behind this book.

Together, we decided to lay the book out slightly different to how it was originally meant to look. I mean, at this point, I didn’t care how it looked. I just wanted to see these cool stories ‘Out there’. In the hands of true horror fans and avid readers. That shit makes us writer types smile, you know!

Having discussed many formats, we came to the decision that the art must be included – after all, what a waste it would have been, right? Not only that, but the way the book is now set out, it almost makes it a treat for the reader. I feel the images set off the mock ‘Newspaper clippings’ and ‘Medical reports.’

And yes, I thought it was hysterical to give myself a cameo…

So, kick back, relax, and catch up with Crystal, Harry and the rest of the pactients at Castell Hirwaun.

  Enjoy.

  Many thanks,

  Dave.
