God Slayer Vol.2

The Seven-colored lizard is a tough opponent for beings with similar Cultivation Levels or even one a Sub-realm above it. Its entire body has a large number of poison sacks which release large quantities of toxic fumes in the air, if someone strikes it with a blunt force or slashes it, and the toxic fumes can even paralyze a being that is one Sub-realm above it. Once the victim is paralyzed, the Seven-colored lizard bites it in order to inject its most lethal poison which results in the victim’s death within a few seconds.

Since Ryan’s fake Cultivation Level was still set at the Early Mortal Elite Realm, it was but natural that anything hungry in the Raspite would target him. He knew of that fact, but it also gave him an edge against them – as in the current situation. The Seven-colored lizard attacked him without fear, which made it easier for Ryan to deal with it.

This one had a Cultivation Level of Late Mortal Beast Lord Realm. Ryan’s body turned into a blur as it dodged to the side to avoid its Bite attack but that was not the end of the attack. Its whip-like tail came at Ryan’s neck at lightning speed. The tip was extremely sharp and poisonous, and Ryan had no intention of ruining his clothes, so he again dodged, and then counter-attacked in the same breath. He punched with his full power at the lizard’s completely unguarded abdomen. If the Seven-colored lizard were to fight any Mortal Lord being, then it would never show its abdominal region to its enemy as that is the weak point of all lizards. It was only in front of Ryan that it had dared to fight unguarded, as it thought Ryan was just too weak to harm it.

The Seven-colored lizard died instantly after Ryan’s fist connected with its abdomen, as its internal organs were ruptured by the sheer force behind it. Its huge body which had been moving around so vigorously just a few seconds ago fell lifelessly on the ground. Soon its dead body started to release large quantities of toxic fumes which were of the same colors as itself, but the fumes had no effect on Ryan.

Ryan placed the body of the Seven-colored lizard in his Spatial pouch following which he continued to move in the direction of his fellow group-members at high speed. The body of a Seven-colored lizard is a Treasure trove. Every part of it can be utilized for making pills. It took Ryan less than five minutes to deal with a Late Mortal Lord Realm Seven-colored lizard, something which even Late Mortal King Realm Martial Artists couldn’t achieve, but this was not the reason why everyone present in the Sundering Valley was looking at the screen with bewildered expressions.

“Why is he fine even after inhaling the fumes of a Seven-colored lizard?” Everyone including Ancestor Level Martial Artists had this question in their minds, as they looked at Ryan’s family, especially Emilia, for an answer. They could tell from Ryan’s peaceful expression that he was certain that the fumes of the Seven-colored lizard wouldn’t affect him in the slightest. Ryan’s family didn’t know how to react as they themselves were dumbstruck too. Emilia herself had no idea why Ryan was fine after inhaling the fumes of Seven-colored lizard.

Ryan’s family and his well wishers were scared stiff when they saw him inhale the fumes of the Seven-colored lizard, but they were shocked as well as excited when they saw that he was not affected by them in the slightest. It would have been extremely dangerous and life-threatening if Ryan was to suffer from paralysis in the Inner region of Poison Meadow. So, their reactions can be understood.

“I am not sure, but it must be due to the Asura Dragon physique that he possesses,” Emilia tried her best to answer everyone’s query.

The Ancestor Level Martial Artists had also come to a similar conclusion too, but they were not sure about it as they had no idea if Asura dragons had extremely high resistance to Poison Attribute or not. Information about Asura dragons was extremely scarce on Grandura. It was due to them being extremely rare, and on top of that they prefer solitude, so it is not easy to find them.

Everyone’s attention again moved to the screen showing Ryan as even his family members were not sure about the reason behind his high resistance towards Poison Attribute. On the other hand, though, Ryan’s family members now had big smiles plastered on their faces as they were now certain that Ryan could easily traverse Poison Meadow without his life being in peril. On the contrary, he could reap a lot of profits which would be beneficial for him, the medallions collected by him being a good example.

In other areas, there was extremely high competition amongst the participants while Ryan had no competitor. This fact also made many people jealous of him as they could tell that he would be in the top five hundred as long as he collected all the medallions in Poison Meadow. That was considered quite a good rank considering Ryan’s age and Cultivation Level.

The condition of the other participants was not as good as Ryan’s, and many of them were having a hard time. This was the first time that two thousand participants had been eliminated within twelve hours of the start of the Divine Trials. Previously, this many were only eliminated after a week. This fact frustrated many but none of them dared voice any concern as the rise in the difficulty of Divine Trials was related to the Main branches of both Family Clans.

The main reason for the increase in difficulty was because Raspite’s sky was inaccessible to the participants, which meant they had to travel around on foot. They had no choice in that, as within a few minutes of them being air borne, a horde of flying-type Elemental Beasts and Elemental Birds would come to attack them. They even had to walk through dangerous areas that were filled with numerous Elemental Beasts and other terrifying creatures. In previous Divine Trials, participants used to just fly over these dangerous areas but that was not possible this time. They had to fight with everything they had just to get past these areas.

Nero and the other Ancestor Level Martial Artists of both Family Clans quietly hovered up in the sky as they watched the screens. They had big smiles plastered on their faces as they looked at the screens. It could be said that the performances of all fifty participants the screens were focused on had been exceptional to this point, which was extremely good for the Grandura branches.

“Head Nero, the Martial Arts Alliance has sent a Mental-message transmission requesting our assistance in killing a powerful Dragon serpent,” a blonde haired middle-aged man with pale skin said, which attracted the attention of all the Ancestor Level Martial Artists. His name was Victor, and he was also one of the Grand Elders of the Grandura branch of Heaven Sundering Family Clan.

The Martial Arts Alliance is made up of numerous Sects and Family Clans. These factions don’t have a long history in comparison with the likes of Heaven Sundering Family Clan and Eternity Family Clan which have histories going back millions of years. The combined strength of all the factions that are part of the Martial Arts Alliance is manyfold higher than the likes of the Grandura branches of Heaven Sundering Family Clan and Calamity Sect, but they don’t have any kind of support from the Martial Artists of the Divine Universe like the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and Calamity Sect do.

“Anything special about the Dragon serpent?” Nero asked in an intrigued manner, as the body of a powerful descendant of a Divine Elemental Beast is comparable to a Heavenly Treasure. It can be used to make various kinds of Heaven Defying pills which can easily change the destiny of a Martial Artist. The fact that the Martial Arts Alliance was unable to finish it off meant only one thing: the Dragon serpent had a Cultivation Level of Early Immortal Saint Realm at least. All Elemental Beasts that have Cultivation Levels of Immortal Emperor Realm and above have a large number of followers which make hunting them extremely dangerous and life threatening. A large number of factions are required to join hands to take them down.

“Not much is known about this Dragon serpent except that it lives in Luminous Lake which is situated in Desolate Forest on Dragon Head Continent. Previously, a Silver Thorn python was the overlord of Luminous Lake and the area around it for fifty thousand years. This Dragon serpent came out of nowhere and took control of the entire area, and the Silver Thorn python has since become one of its followers,” Victor paused a mome
nt.

Then he added, “Divine Martial Sect, which is in the vicinity of Desolate Forest, had no idea about this matter until recently.”

The expressions of Nero and the others changed drastically upon hearing Victor.

“What is the Cultivation Level of that Silver Thorn python?” someone couldn’t help but ask.

“It is Late Immortal Beast Saint Realm. It had numerous serpentine Elemental Beasts as its followers which are now the followers of the Dragon serpent just like it. I am still unable to fathom how such an Elemental Beast could suddenly decide to become some other Elemental Beast’s follower. Since it willingly became the follower of the Dragon serpent, then the Dragon serpent’s bloodlines must be nobler than its own,” Victor said and paused for a second to see if anyone had any doubts.

He again continued seeing as no one raised any questions, “If we decide to kill it then the biggest obstacle will be its followers, as it commands a large number of Elemental Beasts that are descendants of Divine Elemental Beasts and Ancient Elemental Beasts. So, I assume that the difficulty of the task can be understood by everyone present,” and he paused again for a moment before he continued.

“The Martial Arts Alliance has previously sent a few scouts to determine their number but none of the scouts came back. They were only able to send limited information before dying, but that may not be at all accurate, as the army of Immortals sent by the Martial Arts Alliance to finish off the Dragon serpent was completely annihilated by its followers within half an hour,” Victor said in a grim tone.

“Why is the Martial Arts Alliance trying to mess with something so dangerous?” one of the Ancestor Level Martial Artists couldn’t help but ask. The sheer number of its followers was enough to give them goosebumps.

“They recently found an Ancient scroll which is a map of a Legacy Land. The entrance to that Legacy Land lies at the bottom of Luminous Lake. They requested the help of Calamity Sect and a few other factions to secure Luminous Lake and the area surrounding it,” Victor explained.

Everyone finally understood why the Martial Arts Alliance was so hell-bent on getting rid of the Dragon serpent. Legacy Lands are extremely attractive to all factions as they have a large number of Heavenly Treasures and Martial Skills in them left there by their creators before ascending to a higher world.

“Has any other faction made a move?” Nero asked as his eyes shone with excitement.

“Calamity Sect and Whirlpool Sect will be sending a few Elders tomorrow to gauge the situation personally, according to the Martial Arts Alliance,” Victor replied.

“Let’s wait and watch,” Nero said as his attention again moved towards the screens.

“Did they tell you anything about the owner of the Legacy Land?” one of the Ancestor Level Martial Artists asked, and quite a few of the others were interested in that question too. If any member of the Younger Generation was able to find some powerful Martial Skills, then it would be highly beneficial for both Family Clans.

“Nothing, except for its location,” Victor replied.

“We should also make a move otherwise Calamity Sect and Whirlpool Sect might monopolize the Legacy Land,” someone suggested.

Most Legacy Lands are situated in dangerous areas. It is an unwritten rule that the Legacy Land belongs to the faction that takes control of it, irrespective of who discovered it. If Calamity Sect and Whirlpool Sect were able to take control of Luminous Lake and the area surrounding it, then they would become the owners of the Legacy Land. That fact made many Ancestor Level Martial Artists uneasy.

“Legacy Lands are always riddled with dangers. They can be a place of opportunity, but also a place that devours the lives of youngsters,” a woman said in an angry manner. Her name was Sheila, and she was the Head of the Fifth branch of Heaven Sundering Family Clan. She had no intention of knowingly sending Martial Artists of the Younger Generation to their deaths. Her words made many realize the harsh reality: it is extremely dangerous to enter a Legacy Land. There is a fifty percent mortality rate in most Legacy Lands, so many couldn’t help but agree with her.

“What do you suggest?” Nero asked, as he could tell from Victor’s expression that he didn’t agree with Sheila.

“We should quickly monopolize the Legacy Land by finishing off the Dragon serpent and its followers with the help of the Divine Trident. We can then study the Legacy Land for some time, and decide later on if it is safe to send the youngsters in,” Victor said which instantly made everyone’s expressions change drastically.

The Divine Trident was the most powerful artifact of the Grandura branch of Heaven Sundering Family Clan. Similarly, the Grandura branch of Eternity Family Clan had the Sword of Vengeance as its most powerful artifact.

These artifacts were supposed to be only used during times of crisis. They were High-grade Immortal Artifacts, and been left behind by Heron and Herman before heading for Divine Universe. They were like reusable charms as they were capable of storing the most powerful attacks from about a hundred thousand Ancestor Level Martial Artists. All these attacks were then fused together by the two weapons to create a single extremely powerful attack.

These two weapons were unique to Heaven Sundering Family Clan and Eternity Family Clan on Grandura. No other faction of Grandura had anything close to them, though they had their own trump-cards of varying designs.

“It seems you know something else regarding this Legacy Land which the Martial Arts Alliance is trying to hide,” Nero said as his eyes shone. He knew that Victor was not the type to act recklessly. They would pay a heavy price for using the Divine Trident as there was a cool down period of about hundred years after each use: during that one hundred years, the Divine Trident was no different from a piece of junk metal.

“If I am not wrong, that Legacy Land was established even before our factions were founded by our Founders,” Victor said in a calm manner, but his words increased the heartbeats of everyone present.

“If what Victor is saying is correct, then all the Heavenly Treasures stored inside that Legacy Land must have metamorphosed and turned into Heaven Defying Treasures. It has already been more than five hundred million years since the establishment of our Family Clans, which meant that the Heavenly Treasures are at least that old,” one of the Ancestor Level Martial Artists said with a shocked expression, as the grade of Heavenly Treasures increases with the passage of time.

“How sure of that are you?” Nero asked in a frantic manner.

“If you have read history, then you must know that there once used to be a powerful Empire where Desolate Forest now is, which was uprooted by the strongest ever bandit on Grandura, Walking Death. The capital of that Empire existed in the exact same spot where Luminous Lake exists today. So, there is a very high chance that that Legacy Land belonged to that Ancient Empire,” Victor said with veneration.

The bandit named Walking Death is a legend on Grandura. “Walking Death” was not his real name, but a nickname given to him by the people: no one knew his real identity or name. He had single-handedly wiped out the strongest faction on Grandura at the time, and such a feat has never been replicated by anyone again. The bards still sing his laurels till this day.

He had done so for the sake of avenging his wife. Walking Death had robbed the Ancient Empire numerous times because of which the Emperor of the Ancient Empire hated him to the bone. One day the Emperor came to know about the location of Walking Death’s hideout, as he’d been backstabbed by his best friend who leaked the location of his hideout.

The Emperor took a powerful army to kill Walking Death and when he reached the hideout, he didn’t find Walking Death himself, but his wife instead. He killed her to soothe his raging anger, but that was his biggest mistake.

Walking Death went berserk after he came know about his wife’s death, and it was only then that people realized how strong he actually was. He wiped out the Ancient Empire along with its inhabitants but he didn’t stop there. He went on to wipe out all the factions that ha
d had good relations with the Ancient Empire.

Since that incident, and right up to today, people don’t make moves on the family members of even the most notorious bandits. Many people even today contemplate why such a strong person became a bandit in the first place.

“What are the chances that others also know about this?” Nero asked in an uneasy manner.

“It would be odd if someone on their side didn’t come to the same conclusion as me,” Victor said in a nonchalant manner, and everyone looked at him agape.

“Why did you waste so much time on talking about something so useless then?” everyone thought and they had sudden urges to choke Victor to death.

“Send this information to Rudolf and tell him to get his ass over here quickly. We can’t waste any more time,” Nero roared as he and the others flew towards the Ancestral land to make preparations.

  Ch.18

A big Teleportation portal opened just outside Desolate Forest from which half a million or so Immortal Realm Martial Artists and their Soul beings came out. They belonged to various factions, and also included a contingent of ten thousand Immortal Realm Martial Artists from both the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and the Eternity Family Clan. Nero and a few hundred Ancestor Level Martial Artists were also part of it.

Rudolf had to stay back at Shimmering Sky Continent in order to hold the ground in case any faction decided to attack either Family Clan. Nero, on the other hand, was supposed to monopolize the Legacy Land, but people from other factions like Calamity Sect, Whirlpool Sect and so on were already there by the time he and the others from the Heaven Sundering Family and Eternity Family Clans had arrived.
