My heart didn’t flinch, my body was numb and allowing no other emotions to come forth. I had reached my breaking point, and the evidence of that was clutched in my hand.
The smoke cleared, and I heard Killian let out a cry of relief. I could see him, sobbing and hysterical.
Then he saw what I was carrying, and he stopped. Like the world had frozen, he paused mid-cry, and instead gaped at my hand with his mouth open in shock.
I walked up to Killian, and the boy stared at me. His bloodshot eyes wide and his lips moving to find words I knew he’d never speak.
I raised my hand, Kiki’s head dangling from the tuft of hair I was clenching, and I pushed the cicaro’s severed head into Killian’s chest.
Then, and as a thunderous sound of the garage roof collapsing shook the ground underneath our feet, I leaned in… and growled into his ear.
“Never doubt my commitment to you again.”
End of Volume 1
A note from Quil
Wow, is it ever great to be back! I missed my boys and it’s been just amazing to be back writing The Fallocaust Series. This is where I belong and whenever I’m away from the boys I feel a piece of me missing.
So volume 1 is now finished, I hope you enjoyed it. Volume 2 and the conclusion to The Suicide King will be available soon (if it isn’t already), so check my website for updates on when that will be.
I loved writing this book, even if it did give me a few extra grey hairs. When I first started Fallocaust our characters spent most of their time in Aras, but now the world has expanded and with each release you get to see more of the greywastes, of Skyfall, and the plaguelands. I’m looking forward to discovering even more of the Fallocaust world, introducing new characters, and seeing just where everyone ends up, and their journey getting there.
I’ll leave it at that since this is only the end of volume 1, so I’ll save my spiel for volume 2. But I would like to thank you for coming with me as I traverse around the greywastes, and for making my dreams of becoming an author come true. There will never be a time when I don’t have a book currently being written or edited, and I do plan on doing this until I’m a bitchy old man sitting in my recliner watching The Walking Dead reruns with a cat on my lap. So get used to me, I’m not going anywhere!
And as usual for updates on book releases, to view excerpts, or to watch me slowly slip into psychosis, follow me on Twitter @Fallocaust, also find me on Facebook /quil.carter, and of course my website: www.quilcarter.com. I’m also found on Spotify, where I have playlists for all of my books. In those playlists are songs mentioned in the series, songs I think suit the book, and ones I listened to while writing.
Be good, everyone! Actually, no, be bad, bad is more fun.
Sincerely,
Quil Carter
