Shadow of the Ravens

I nod, my gaze looking out over the Chess Valley again. When I speak, my words are soft, filled with a pain I can no longer hide. “I took them from his coat… I couldn’t… I wanted to…” I shake my head, unable to express what I feel.

Her hand finds my shoulder. “It’s beautiful, Ren. Thank you.”

I nod, looking away from her. I may have known him longer, but her love for my brother is just as deep. I can feel that connection solidify between us, how much we miss him. I’d been too consumed by my own grief to feel it, but I’d always known it was there.

Drinking the last of my tea, I stand, holding out a hand for the Timekeeper at my side. I grin down at her, tilting my head. “Shall we?”

She smiles at me, letting me pull her up. I take the hat from her hands and place it on her head, then bow in an elaborate way. “My Lady Time. I am at your disposal.”

Emma laughs. “You certainly make my life interesting.”

I twirl her around, pulling her in close to me. “Tick tock, time to go.” I peck her cheek, then leap down from the wall with her. We have places to be, and worlds to save.

As usual, I’d like to thank my amazing editor who helped make Ren’s story come to life. I also want to thank all my dedicated Timekeeper fans! I hope you enjoyed this as much as you enjoyed all the others!

I also want to take this time to thank the Father that gave me this talent in the first place. I’ve grown a lot and I am so very grateful for all of you who have stuck with me through it all.
